or more. it the is monday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is the significant snow event coming up from the south, this is one of those storms where south jersey will get a lot more snow than the lehigh valley. call i had an upside down storm. we already have dozens of schools reporting delays and closings for tomorrow. we are running them at the bottom of your screen. you can also see the the entire list at six abc.com. "action news" reporters sharrie williams is in millville cumberland county tonight. kenneth moton live in essington delaware county, pennsylvania but first lets here from meteorologist adam joseph ape melissa magee. adam, lets start with you. >> you can see with our reporters that the snow is falling across the area. we will confirm that on double scan live radar with the exception near trenton, bucks county still waiting for first flakes to fall but southern new jersey dealing with that light snow as we saw just in stone harbor on the action campaign also especially in the northwestern suburbs. we are expecting less snow to

accumulation to fall. then for philadelphia trenton, and the the immediate northwestern suburbs out toward reading and lancaster there is a winter weather advisory where there will be treacherous driving conditions but less accumulation and no advisory or warning right new for lehigh valley or poconos. i bring in meteorologist melissa magee to talk about the timing of the storm and really how much to get. >> it is all about your location too as far as the amount of snowfall we are expecting. storm tracker six live double scan radar showing the the snow is starting to break out from the southwest to northwest direction and over spread areas of pennsylvania and new jersey. it will continue to do so throughout the overnight hours. future tracker six timing it out at 5:00 in the morning unfortunately for the commute tomorrow morning it will be slow go but you will notice a sharp cut off with that snow for our immediate northwestern suburbs, 95 corridor and heavier looks to fall if you look at shade of lavender across delaware and south jersey. it continues at 10:00 o'clock

in the morning with that precipitation starting to exit from the west to east direction. so we will talk about the time line and what to expect with the snowfall. during the overnight hours is when we are expecting heavier snow to fall. unfortunately right through 7:00 a.m. road will cover other us especially as adam was showing you. temperatures in the teens and single digits. 9:00a in m to noon the snow will back out from the west to east direction and included will begin to break and for late day sunshine. as far as morning commute and morning rush expect some delays. heaviest snow will be falling south and east of the city but several inches will be on the ground in time for the the commute tomorrow morning. coming up jim meteorologist adam joseph will have the latest on expected snowfall where you live with the full and exclusive accu weather seven day. >> thanks, melissa. lets travel to millville new jersey and "action news" reporter sharrie williams. it looks like that area will to have cope with the second part of the 1/2 punch. >> reporter: yeah, jim part two is happening right now.

these snow flakes are pretty large, coming down sideways as we speak but first, blow came over the weekend. take a look at what is left the from the snow that fell over the weekend in millville as they clear the way in this parking lot, in this very busy shopping center here and they tell me they are preparing for more of this overnight. the road in vineland, new jerseyes from even tonight. they are covered with snow and ice that came through over the weekend, residents like carmen perez say they are now preparing for the the next round. >> our road haven't really gotten cleared up. i don't know fit is expecting more snow so it the might be a waste of time to clear it up. >> reporter: perez's doubt'smaya hopes enough falls overnight to add up to a snow day. >> i just don't wanting to to school tomorrow. >> reporter: vineland auto zone it has been a very busy day, store clerks say that the freezing temperatures mean increased sales on car batteries, deicer and heavy duty windshield wipers.

>> we had to restock our windshield wiper blade because we ran out of so many different kind. so, we restocked them during the middle of the day. >> reporter: further south in millville families are running out for those last minute food items,. >> salads, milk everything for the next few days. >> reporter: this mom isn't sure how much snow she will wake up to but she plans to be ready and to make it quality time with her family. >> hopefully there is no school for the next few days and we will be snowed in, watching a few movies. >> reporter: sound liken the parents are okay with a snow day come tomorrow. as we take a look at this snow as it is coming down. we know here at this shopping center off of delsea here in millville, there is a small front loader that is standing by ready to clear this lot if need be because it the is very busy for customers here. this mount is here. the it is one of several in the area. of course, we will be looking to see just how much snow comes down as we wake up tomorrow morning.

we are live from millville sharrie williams for channel six "action news". jim? >> sharrie, thank you. lets go live to "action news" reporter kenneth mote even... we will get to kenneth in just a moment but first people were flocking to the stores again tonight buying rock salt for their driveways and for the street. the once again, we are looking at the potential for a couple of days of inactivity and tonight at the grocery stores and hardware stores people were loading up. >> lets go live to "action news" reporter kenneth moton overlooking i-95 in essington delaware county. kenneth, is what the situation there. >> reporter: well, jim the first flakes started coming down about an hour ago. hundreds of salt and plow trucks are now on these roadways. of course, this is something penndot has done time and time again but this storm there are challenges as crews deal with

the bone chilling temps. penndot is on the clock for full call out, hundreds of trucks that top well any of these cold roadways overnight and tuesday morning. >> i get home in the morning around 5:00, that is it for the the day. i won't come back until tomorrow night. >> reporter: word from penndot started earlier in the evening with crews dealing with something they don't see too often, frozen salt. those single digits temperatures way below zero wind chills and moisture had workers breaking out heavy machinery to loosen up the salt supply. >> the biggest challenge is with the salt itself. it becomes lessee effective at lower temperatures. >> reporter: the department of transportation says cold will impact the salt pack even more. morning commuters will be traveling on snow covered road but they will be passable thanks to a salt gravel-like mix. >> adding anti skid to the mix allows the traffic to churn that and keep it in like a powdery state. >> reporter: drivers remain hours before the storm have have their game plans ready.

the fireball erupted like an enormous orange mushroom cloud today. this is as a result of the 100 train tanker cars of crude oil derailing in west virginia. officials say at least 14 tankers ignited, one witness was being interviewed when the wreck turned into a massive explosion. they watched as the fireball roseanne an "s" mated 300 feet in the air. officials say the crash sent at least, one tanker into the canala river and spark a house fire. nearby resident were told to evacuate. the the town of mount carbon is about 30 miles south east of charleston, and amazingly only one person has within injured, even they the the derailment was close to a residential neighborhood. the the trains carrying balance kin oil which is same form of highly flammable explosive crude oil that investigative reporter wendy saltsman alerted you to earlier this month in an "action news" investigation. the crude oil is also being transported through

philadelphia neighborhood and south jersey. while no major explosions have happened, 11 train tank cars carrying crude oil derailed in south philadelphia in the past few weeks. now, last january a 101 car csx train partially derailed over the the schuylkill. six of those cars were carrying crude while two freight cars dangled precariously over the schuylkill river. it may look like an ice palace but this is no fantasy. this is what was a brutal mission for philadelphia fire fighters. a blaze erupted early this morning at a doctor's office at 52nd and locust. but the fire was soon replaced by ice. fire fighters poured tons of water on the blaze, and in near zero temperatures every drop froze. and coded the building in a half inch of ice. fire officials were worried that the weight of the ice put additional stress on the burned out structure. and then there were the fire trucks, fire fighters had had to chip away the ice before

they could leave the area. the the scene was so bizarre looking, it drew a crowd, many of whom, were taking pictures. there is word tonight that eagles safety nate allen is the subject of a police investigation. the the 27 year-old was detained by police in his native fort myers florida late this afternoon but police there have not released any information why. allen has been with the eagles for five years. he is set to become a free agent. the a new smart phone app may have you rethinking where you leave your keys and who gets to hold them. it is designed for convenience but it is raising concerns for some security experts. consumer reporter nydia han is here. what is the the potential problem here. >> reporter: you'll see. do i find this appealing because i'm's constantly losing my keys. now you or anyone can make a virtual copy of your key in seconds. that copy can be stored in the app on your phone or shared with family or friend. then when you or they need

access, a real key at kiosk or any hardware store or duplicates mailed to you. at least that is the claim. this is how we're used to getting our keys made. a local hardware store or lock smith cutting a key using a stan air machine like this. but check this out. now all you need to do is a smart phone and piece of white paper. key me is a a new app that promises to cologne your keys in second. just scan both side using your phone and then key me will dot rest. our producers scanned the key to her desk and requested mail delivery for $3.99. a few days later the the key arrived. it worked. next we wanted to try a house key and enlisted the help of melissa kaufman but this time when moment of truth came. >> um-hmm. >> it is not working. >> i'm surprised, because the app scanned my exact house key. i don't know maybe i was

supposed to do. >> reporter: county council president reverend doctor christopher bullock says he is disturb about the the shooting in the highly regarded community center. >> it is a tragedy for victim and rick tim's family. unfortunately it happened at a strong community center where kid were at presidents day, lieutenant of innocent kid could have been victims. >> reporter: police declined to confirm reports on social media the that victim is a rapper from wilmington. they were going through surveillance footage and asking any who may have seen something to contact them. in new castle delaware channel six "action news". also from our delaware news room tonight, wilmington police say a 17 year-old boy was another victim of deadly gunfire this afternoon, police found him in 24th and le moth street shot in the stomach, and they have an identified him by name but investigators are asking the public to report any tips, in regard to a suspect. a northeast philadelphia family is heart broken tonight after a thief ransack their home. the victim's say they were
