>> almost certainly will be. storm tracker 6 live double scan right now on the big board shows that you those heavy bands of snow that we were expecting overnight did arrive and we're still dealing with some of it. the snow is thinning out out to the west of us and we may find the bulk of this does get over towards the east of philadelphia fairly quickly this morning but the beginning of the rush hour you'll still have snow and this is coming down at a pretty good clip. it's light fluffy snow but it is piling up. as we take a wide view of course as expected the center of this storm system is well to our south and we're just getting clipped with the upper reaches of it but it is enough of that snow to be able to pile up. we have been going for about 3 to 6 inches across the central portion of the region and looks like we'll wind up with something along that line. we have that winter weather advisory from philadelphia and delaware county and trenton up to the north and west in the immediate suburbs for accumulating snow this morning and of course it's still a warning down south where we're still expecting a little bit more significant snowfall so

you're going to have problems driving around in these counties highlighted in the advisory area in the lavender. expect delays during the morning rush hour. we have had some heavy snow overnight. it's still coming down at a pretty good clip as you just saw in those bright bands of light still over most of the region. heaviest snow is south and east of 95, several inches already on the ground just about everywhere. as we take a look at temperatures it's uncomfortable out there, 14 degrees in philadelphia. of course with these low temperatures it helps that snowfall in that light fluffy variety versus the heavy wet snow. wind chills are also an issue once again today. not as bad as yesterday but seals like it's 4 degrees out there. as we roll through the day it stays cool. 26 degrees by noon and by 3 o'clock we'll be at 30. that's your high. the bulk of the snow during the morning rush hour but it should be tapering off pretty quickly after about 8 or 9 o'clock and the last of it

ramps and overpasses more problems and that's what we're seeing in conshohocken. the ramp from the blue route northbound to the schuylkill westbound is shut down. yet another jackknifed tractor-trailer. the cause of the problem here. stick to the ramp to ridge pike instead. looking up in berks county, i176 southbound closed between 23 and route 10. yet another accident so app handful of accidents in there already. problems on the main roads as well as secondary roads. if you do head out give yourself a lot of extra time and expect to slip and slide matt and tam. >> thanks karen. areas to the south are expecting more snow. let's head down to one of those areas. john rawlins is live for us in new castle delaware. good morning john. >> reporter: good morning, matt. we've had quite a bit of snow down here, i'm going to say 2 to 3 inches on the ground. it's the light fluffy stuff not very good for making snowballs. behind me is route 13 aka north dupont highway to sort of situate ourselves to behind us would be minquedale and the road would run on to wilmington here.
4:05 am
so you're seeing not a lot of traffic at this point in time, very light traffic the roads are snow covered. traction when we were driving which was closer to 3 o'clock, 3:15, traction is spotty out there. you'll be chugging along and it doesn't seem too bad but then you apply the brakes and you'll get abs brake chatter and at some point you could do some sliding so take it easy if you're going to go out early this morning. doesn't look like the road crews have caught up. take it easy, take time and use caution and common sense so you don't end up like what karen was showing us where we have jackknifed trucks and that sort of thing. you can see traffic getting around. we finally see a few vehicles on the road and i do believe that maybe a salt truck that's moving along there with the flashing yellow lights so the road crews are getting out they are getting the job done but it's going to take awhile before things are certainly really in good shape down in this part. so live in new castle, john rawlins, channel6 "action news." back to you all. >> have to admit, john high a

it's no big deal, it doesn't look like it's coming down that hard but that is deceiving because the roads are very slick whether you're on the side roads or some of the main roads and as you said tam roxborough you can see the roads here are snow covered and there's some ice under there as well because the temperatures have been so cold. so, it's a good idea that if you have to head out early this morning, that you really give yourself some significant time to get to wherever you're going because the conditions are not pleasant and it seems that the snow continues to fall. about a half hour ago we thought it was letting up but it seems to be coming down. we have this "action news" snow totals ruler. it's actually more than we. there was our photographer mark and i were saying about 2-inches but it looks like there's about four on the ground here and we actually did talk to one resident here. he was out getting trod plow and he said the conditions are the worst he's seen this

two dimensional view and go in tighter unfortunately most of our most heavily traveled roadways are involved with this heavier snow highlighted in brighter shades of white some of this going right through philadelphia and back up through norristown. just to the north of norristown near lansdale you see a little bit of that pink highlighted as well. that's especially heavy snow and we're getting some of that in northeast philadelphia, too. so across the immediate region on your more heavily traveled roads you're looking at that heavy stuff stuff. out in allentown nd reading the snow is begin to thin out a little bit. harrisburg drying out at this point and gettysburg very close to that. it may be a case where very quickly during the rush hour we start to see the intensity slacking a bit. i will go down to the south parts of cape may atlantic county also heavy banding of snow and these are the areas where we thought we were going to get the heaviest accumulations. you have to deal with this stuff out to the west that still has to break through and looks like down the shore
4:10 am
you'll be stuck with that heavier snow a little longer. we are evolving towards some improvement. at this point we're still looking at pretty significant snowfall. as we look outside we have sky 6 and we are trying to see the ben franklin bridge. you can kind of pick it up there in the distance but the snow making the visibility from our high camera position here a little difficult. it's cold out there. 14 degrees. nine is your dewpoint so the airfarely close to that temperature, that dewpoint close to the temperature showing the saturation. winds out of the northeast at 7 miles per hour. not all that strong but enough to give you wind chills down in the single digits so do bundle up. overnight snow about 9 o'clock last night we had the light stuff but it was really more like 11 o'clock or midnight that the heavy bands began to fill in and in the overnight hours, we've just maintained that same pattern. of course we are seeing that breakup out to the west right now so things are beginning to get a little bit better. between now and about 7 o'clock it's possible that the heaviest banding is over south jersey and starting to push away from philadelphia. western suburbs might even be
4:11 am
drying out by then. i think the last of any snow showers are probably done about noon and after that we might even see a little bit of sunshine returning later this afternoon t what to expect this morning? well, slippery roads, that's obvious. the snow is going to be light and fluffy and later on if you go out to try and shovel it you'll find that it's fairly easy to shovel if it hasn't been packed down all that much. let the kids know if they're off for school today it's a bad day for is snow men because that light fluffy stuff will be hard to form. this is what we've been talking about in terms of snowfall amounts and i think we're pretty much on track for this sort of thing. about 3 to 6 inches in and around the center portion of the region and more down south. some spots might go well over 6-inches way down south in cape may county and parts of southern delaware. and your temperatures today stay cool. we'll get a high of 30 probably around 3 o'clock. again the snow tapering down pretty quickly this morning. your seven-day from accuweather shows a high this afternoon of 30. we'll hope for the return of some sunshine. morning snow will be tapering off during or hopefully a little after the morning rush

hour. and then tomorrow a snow shower is possible but not nearly as much on the brownd, 32 is the high and then we have another arctic snap. a high of 19 degrees on thursday. we're now looking at an overnight low of one, which is similar to what we've just experienced sunday into monday and then another 19-degree high on friday. a snow shower is possible on saturday and a little bit of rain mixing with snow possible on sunday so winter not over. >> you got that right. thank you david. it is 4:12 right now and we're taking a live look at philadelphia international airport. have about 56 cancellations today. that's about 10 percent of the flights. so, quite a few cancellations because of the snowstorm. let's go to karen. >> looking outside live right here, yet another accident. this is the boulevard approaching ridge avenue. it's blocking the left lane and the right shoulder and you see a vehicle looks like kind of almost in a snowbank off to the side. problems on the schuylkill, problems on i-95, all that of when "action news" continues. >> ♪♪

well because we have problems out there on the roads wherever you look. it really is dangerous travel today because the roads are slippery with the snow covered roads. even on your maind roads. here we are on the boulevard approaching ridge avenue. that's southbound traffic headed towards the schuylkill. we see the accident blocking the left lane and a vehicle off to the side into the snow as well. so you have to be careful as you're traveling through. looks like we have some plows that are coming through this area as well but even areas that have been treated i think are still slippery at this point so problems like the schuylkill out here. let's switch our camera view. this is south philadelphia i-95 past the walt whitman bridge. we've got an accident with a jackknifed tractor-trailer and you can kind of see right there it's in the process of clearing out of there. it's jackknifed tractor-trailer and this is south philadelphia 95 past the walt whitman bridge but just an example of what can happen. we showed that you scene a minute ago so that one cleared but i think you have to be careful about that. remember 45 miles an hour speed restrictions on your area highways. now we're looking at the schuylkill and penndot has got it looking towards the trees
4:17 am
at this point with the snow coming down but be careful in this area nearby on the schuylkill near past gulph mills we have an accident there with traffic just barely getting by. also in conshohocken the ramp from the blue route northbound to the schuylkill westbound is closed and that's because of a jackknifed tractor-trailer. here we had an accident in berks county that cleared but problems wherever you look on the roads. take it slowly. the main roads as well as the side roads matt and tam are snow covered. >> thanks tam. parts of south jersey and the jersey shore could see some of the highest snow totals out of this storm. let's go to "action news" reporter annie mccormick who is in heavy snowfall in mays landing atlantic county, hi, annie. >> reporter: hey matt. around 11 o'clock it started falling here in atlantic county. we're in mays landing specifically and around 11 o'clock, between the hours of 11:00 and 3:00 it was that heavy pretty fluffy snow. now we're getting this kind of wintry mix and it just picked up in the last five minutes. you hear karen talking about road conditions.
