state's thon. hollywood's big night is a bit more than 24 hours away we are live in los angeles with the look at oscar's local ties. the big story tonight is a snowy saturday creating all kind of problems across the delaware and lehigh valleys. take a look at this picture from 676 near eighth the street, less than an hour ago you can see a tractor trailer off to the side with several vehicles skidding out. people actually getting out of their cars trying to help in anyway they can. general consensus, it is a mess out there. in delaware some people needed a push to get where they were going and delaware county plows are working to clear quickly accumulating snow. over on i-95 near girard avenue cars were moving at a crawl trying to stay as safe as possible. in new jersey the snow is coming down just as quickly as the crews are clearing it up. we have live team coverage of the storm "action news" reporter kenneth moton is live in king of prussia, annie mccormack live in oxford circle a and meteorologist adam joseph is tracking the
6:02 pm
system will but we will begin with meteorologist melissa magee with what we can expect in the hours to come, melissa. >> that is part of the problem as we are tracking the snowfall moving through. we have been dealing with a extreme out break of arctic air. the snow coming in is sticking on the ground fairly quickly and some of the main road are even snow covered at this hour. we will show you storm tracker six live double scan radar 3-d and you can see snowing across delaware and lehigh valleys. we are starting to see mixing taking place along the immediate coastline to the east of surf city down to atlantic city and cape may and dover. let's go tighter on a couple pockets of heavy snowfall on storm tracker six live double scan street level in trenton mercer county and northern burlington county. traveling on new jersey turnpike just to the east of trenton we are dealing with light to moderate pockets of snowfall, even along route one there in trenton we have the snow that we're dealing w also on route 70 as well. another pocket down across philadelphia, slow go along i-95 corridor, from the city down to wilmington.
6:03 pm
pockets of heavy snowfall moving across camden, gloucester, even burlington counties. we will show you what is going on in the big picture. storm tracker six live double scan 3-d showing you snow from new england across mid-atlantic region. you think we will get a break. things fill in once again with that snow, coming down across areas in baltimore, and washington d.c. rain is off to the south and west. eventually the warmer air will puncture into the system and we will go from snow to sleet, and eventually some liquid precipitation. so winter storm warnings for philadelphia areas to the north and west. this is been expanded to include burlington gloucester camden even salem counties as we are's tracking snow sleet and ice and advisory for purple shaded counties from atlantic city westward into dover. the big concern, however is visibility greatly reduced as storm system getting. i will bring in meteorologist adam joseph with the very latest on this. >> adam has more on that and what we can expect, adam. >> yes that visibility
6:04 pm
dropping where we are seeing heavier snow a along i-95, 1 mile visibility in wilmington. near half mile visibility in the city of philadelphia, at a half mile in reading. but looking to the south notice wildwood, dover near eight to 10-mile visibility. as we are starting to mix that snow with some sleet and even some freezing rain, at times visability are improving a little bit but that arctic air, it is not moving. we're still in the mid 20's. that snow is light fluffy and light and puffy snow can pile up quicker then it would be wet and heavy because it doesn't compact when ate cumulating on top of one another. that snow pack road, they are a mess. they will continue to be over next few hours with that poor visibility. the it is very slick. the it is very slow. even on the major roadways. coming in myself i have seen so many people with rear wheel drive that cannot get up a hill. they block traffic. there is a lot of cars on the road this afternoon. your best bet stay home even this evening when you see that switch over because it will

6:10 pm
we had a little fun and so did these cousins on this east falls hill. >> it is a lot of snow, so we get to have snowball fights snow board, ride down, the hills. i'm having fun. i like it. >> reporter: back out here live not fun for these drivers though. the streets department tells me that the plows when they do come through they are just trying to keep up with the rate that this snow is accumulating. so they will be back through again. now we're also told that there are some delays with septa, but before you head out, head to septa.org. after those people in that port richmond neighborhood were also told that they should have their water on, hopefully by this evening. another note too the streets department again telling people to leave space behind the plow trucks, behind the salt trucks also if you have a vehicle that you know is not going to handle the the snow well keep it in the garage. for now reporting live from oxford circle, annie mccormack for channel six "action news".
