38 degrees, along with the filtered sun we're seeing big time improvement in the visibility. a lot of areas are down to less than two miles. 4 in lancaster, 6 in allentown. everybody is in the clear across south jersey and delaware. so again we're improving as the afternoon wears on. salt light and radar shows the storm system that brought the heavy snows is exiting off the coast of new england. skies beginning to brighten up across the eastern two-thirds of the keystone state. another arctic front is waiting in the wings across the eastern great lakes. that will slam through here overnight tonight. we'll not see 42 again for quite sometime. drying out clouds and sun, 42 that's the forecasted high. when i come back in a few minutes we'll talk about the plunging temperatures and a possible refreeze for tomorrow. >> thank thank you, chris. taking a live look at philadelphia international airport. there were cancellations this

morning, they come after a very hectic day of delays and cancellations yesterday. if you have a flight call before heading out. 1-800-phl-gate. now, cleanup from the latest messy mix from mother nature continues across the region this noon. annie mccormick is live in roxborough annie how are things looking out where you are. >> reporter: i have to tell you take a look at ridge avenue, a lot of plowing already done there's not a lot of puddles but this mess right here, on the sides of the roads is what quliewl see, you can -- you'll see, you'll see chunks of ice if you have to clean up, now is the time to do it. >> very icy. >> reporter: it's clean up time across the city of philadelphia. nick of titan landscaping has been on the job since yesterday afternoon. the ice making this clean up tough for people operating plow trucks and residents cleaning up sidewalks. >> it's ridiculous, way too

much ice. >> reporter: the sun came out and helped melt the ice a little in this north philadelphia neighborhood. but on some sidewalks that ice wouldn't budge. this man used a pick and eric broke out the heavy duty equipment. >> i've been out here two hours cleaning and shoveling and picking the ice. it's hard out here. >> it's an old time shovel you have to pick up the ice. >> reporter: overnight the city streets deployed 250 pieces of equipment and began the plowing and salt operation once the snow stopped falling. penndot had 400 trucks out. on kelly drive this driver had some troubles, but this jogger didn't seem to notice that snow and were -- that snow and ice were in her way. >> i try to make the turn back there and the car didn't turn and i kept going straight into the side of the road.

winter sends our way. >> investigators are looking for the cause of a fire that ripped through a house on a north philadelphia street. the action cam was on the scene of 2700 north newkirk. firefighters found flames and smoke pouring out of the home. medics were called to the scene. the home was badly damaged no reports of injuries. >> police were called to a burlington county motel overnight for a haz/mat situation. the action cam was on route 130 inboard don town. -- in bordentown. no reason for the cause of the haz/mat swigs -- situation. a man issued a threat calling for attacks on the mall of america in minnesota and the west edmonton mall in alberta canada. al-shabaab was behind the westgate mall in nairobi kenya

there's not much of a breeze, but whatever breeze we are seeing note the directions of the aeros we're starting to shift out of the southwest earlier on now it's out of the northwestly. now we'll drive the cold air back into the delaware valley which means untreated surfaces, or slush that remains on the sidewalks or driveways will quickly refreeze overnight tonight that will lead to slick spots tomorrow morning. salt light and radar clouds begin to thin out in the eastern half of the keystone state. that means sunshine later on. we're moving into a quiet stretch of weather. there is a system out here that could bring ten inches of snow to portions of arkansas. that will miss us but another arctic front swings through tuesday night into wednesday that could touch off snow showers, other than that it's a nice, quiet week. temperatures that's the big story, we're warming up today into the low 40s from that point on, temperatures plunge.

crews have shut off the water. so far we have not received any reports of residents losing their drinking water because of the break. firefighters were called to a delaware county college after a fire broke out inside a dorm on campus. "action news" was on the scene at cheyney university. tugman hall was evacuated due to a fire inside. so far no word on injuries or what may have sparked the fire. police in minneapolis say a suspect is in custody after a police officer was shot while standing next to his cruiser. the 43-year-old was arrested on suspicion of violating his probation and burglary and aggravate the domestic assault. the officer's partner finished up with the burglary and displeasic violence car the two were standing by their patrol car when somebody fired a shot. he is in fair condition.

chris christie will give his address to the legislature and wednesday he'll host his first town hall to discuss his first budget initiative. governor christie is spending his time at the national governor's association in washington to raise money. the fundraising is for a possible presidential billed. analysts say he is having trouble competing with jeb bush. christie team said they are confident he'll have the money to run for the white house. in less than four hours students at penn state will get a well-deserved rest. thon comes to an end at 4:00. by then they will have this dance nonstop for 46 hours. as you can imagine students are doing what they can to stay weak and staying on their feet. one students is thinkingful her father who died from kidney cancer last year. >> i get a burst of energy and

we'll go a little bit wider, the other thing we'll notice over the next few days it's a nice, quiet weather pattern. this is kind of bully the pattern. this huge dome of cold air will set up across the lower 48. that means this area of low pressure, because airports when you see moisture down -- a lot of times when you see moisture down here, this is where the big storms come from. this dome pushes east and pushes the storm east and out to sea. that will not come up and we'll not have to worry about a big storm over the next couple of days. this is the heart of tornado alley out hear. this partly of the country will see the snow. northern arkansas and louisiana will deal with snow and freezing rain and ice. that will be a mess for those folks out there. for us, nice and quiet. 9:00 p.m. partly cloudy skies.
