entered our region. on stormtracker 6 live double scan we have that battle going on with snow to the north and east of philadelphia and that blue, the mix of snow and freezing rain taking over much of the area at this time. there you can see the blue, a mixture of sleet and some freezing rain up near route 1 move ago way from philadelphia in parts of philadelphia. the snow is not lasting all that long and then the sleet starts to accumulate, especially on the secondary roads and the overpasses and sidewalks and parking lots, and wrightstown and somerville seeing the snow but soon the sleet will take over. we have winter weather advisories in affect until can basically for the entire viewing area for the mixture as it slowly transitions over to plain

old rain, numbers are generally at or below freezing especially to the north and east of philadelphia, into the 20s, the timing of when it flips to main old rain from philadelphia to i-95 a few more hours of that sleet and freezing rain and the lehigh valley not until 10:00 in the morning. this is the beginning of a long duration storm. cecily tynan has more about the battle to the north and the warmth to the south. >> temperatures are rising overnight, right now in philadelphia it's 30 degrees, cincinnati 44 degrees, atlanta 53 and memphis 58 degrees we'll be tapping out more warm air however there is arctic air across the northern plains than is moving in wednesday night into thursday and that will bring us that potential for significant snow storms future tracker showing tomorrow morning, temperatures above freezing across the board we are looking at light rain south

of philadelphia and tomorrow it will be on and off rain through 4:30, generally south of philadelphia, however at the same time, the arctic air is beginning to move in across the mississippi valley and another wave of low pressure develop as long the cold front and that wave brings in the moisture as the cold air moves non-future tracker showing by 7:00 on thursday morning, we are looking at the potential for heavy snow in most of our viewing area, future snowfall showing the heavy snow band in the dark blue looks to set up across the region and still a little bit a question how far to the north it will reach and how far to the south the national weather service has issued a winter storm watch for the entire viewing area, we'll talk about more of what to expect in the full accuweather forecast. >> penndot crews are out and about treating the roads and staying ahead of the storm and it's only the first of what will

be a busy couple of days for them. chad pradelli is live in king of prussia, where he continues team coverage this afternoon. chad? >> hey alicia pretty ugly out here, we see the sleet coming down and not a lot sticking on the roadways but still a little slick, there was a salt truck here that just got loaded up penndot tells me that 300 trucks will be on the roadway here for this storm. that includes the state fleet and the contractors over there the weapon of choice for this storm. salt. >> you check your hoses and lines and make sure nothing is leaking. penndot driver eric lawrence is doing his walk through checking his plow but mother nature's most recent blow is more of a spreading event than a plowing one. it's a long night another one of these storms and it keeps changing on you. >> i expect we'll have excess of

parking has to deal with a slippery obstacle course. sara bloomquist has more in south philadelphia. >> reporter: we have the briefest burst of snow and it didn't last long and then some sleet and then light rain but it's cold and uncomfortable. what is making this storm worse is there is so much snow and ice on side streets and sidewalks like here in south philadelphia there is now more of this stuff on the way. >> in northeast philadelphia mountain road, driveways are still snow covered and so are the sidewalks, a similar scene in south philadelphia, streets are covered with packed down snow and ice and sidewalks are slick in spots. joseph gallow was trying to clear his step as head of this storm. >> i'm shoveling it off and when it melts it comes on the pavement and freezes overnight.

armed robbery suspect said a deliveryman held up a fern rock pharmacy it showed an employee let the man back into the store on february 25th that is when the suspect pulled a gun and forced the woman into the front. from there he ordered a manager to empty the safe into a trash bag and once he had the store's money he left without hurting anyone, if you have any information on this crime please call philadelphia police. two people were arrested following a short chase through delaware county today. it started when officers stopped a car in chester after 11:00 this morning. instead of pulling over the man behind the wheel drove at an officer and then fled on to i-95. multiple law enforcement agencies joined in the chase and it ended in ridley where a driver and a female passenger were both arrested.

to snow. over the next 48 hours a live look at double scan radar a big chunk of region in that blue is the worst color you can see when you deal with winter storms because that is the sleet and the freezing rain, just a little bit of snow left over far to the north and east and allentown flipping over from that snow to some sleet and eventually will go over to freezing rain and still dealing with some snowflakes mixing in north of 611 and flemming ton. 222 and 422 and 329 north and east of hamburg dealing with the ice and that continues from i-95 and philadelphia and the brink of trenton, we are still waiting for the warm air of the surface, it's entering the upper part of the atmosphere first and slowly makes its way down to the surface and it comes in light and from above and that is why

we see it form as rain in the clouds and as it hits the ground with the cold air that is dense and stubborn to break it freezes on contact. 29 in trenton and 29 in wilmington and 27 in reading and slowly these numbers from south to north will jump above the freezing mark. double scan live radar you can sigh the precipitation overtaking even western parts of new england and there you see the rain with the warmer air to the west and the future tracker at 8:00 still on the line of freezing rain and rain from wilmington to philadelphia and definitely still freezing rain to the north and west and notice millville and atlantic city 36 and 37 degrees and by 11:00 we'll be puncturing that mid-30s range into the lehigh valley and we are off to the races as temperatures go tomorrow at 8:00 low to mid-40s even into the upper 40s tomorrow afternoon

and tomorrow evening's rush hour still dealing with plain old rain but notice the temperatures starting to drop into the 30s again and that is the transition from rain back to snow at midnight tomorrow in wilmington, philadelphia and trenton and a mix to the south and then everybody flips over to heavy snow by thursday morning as the snow accumulates in what could be the biggest snow storm of our winter season so far. tomorrow rain the entire day about a quarter to .75 inch, late wednesday night 10:00 11:00, 12:00 that rain changes to snow from north to south and stays to heavy snow throughout the day on thursday this is a pretty easy expected snowfall map, most of the area 4 to 8 inches and 2 to 4 to the north and it's the timing of when the cold air comes in and where does the front set up and will this map stay the same? we'll keep fine tuning it for you but right now a healthy
