5:02 pm
most of the region is right around there probably the higher end of that scale. philadelphia international airport the latest as of 4 is 4.5 inches we'll add to that when we get the final totals. jenkintown 8.4, and king of prussia a little more than 9 inches and allentown getting a few more inches 6.4 inches of snow. south jersey and delaware the snow is still accumulating mount laurel 6.7 and ewing 6.1 and millville 3 inches on the ground. once the snow moves out we have another problem overnight for more details on the timing of the snow and the cold to follow lets go to adam joseph. >> we are speaking of record cold that will come as the sky clears out overnight tonight and the final flakes will fall and we have it stop falling in the north western suburbs wilmington and trenton,

down got to make the best of it. >> you can see the roads here on 202, they are still pretty heavily covered in snow and the snow is coming down and it's hard for the snowplows to come up and it's showing no signs of letting up if you can stay off the roads, let the snowplow driver dozen their job and stay home and stay safe. i'm wendy saltzman channel 6 "action news." >> okay wendy thank you. lets head to the jersey shore, this is a live look at the intersection of arctic and arkansas in atlantic city. the snow continues to fall there and we can also see the snow accumulating on the streets and not many people out and that is probably a good thing from the shore lets head out live to "action news" reporter nydia han, live in cherry hill. >> reporter: hey sharrie, look at route 70 it's so snow covered, plows have been through here so much times but the snow
5:08 pm
keeps falling, we saw a line of a dozen snowplows coming through here on 70 and look how much the snow is piling up on the ground outside of this wawa gas station and people here are shoveling all day long and residents have been too. >> well this is hard for me right now but you know side to side. >> you are doing a good job you lived in missouri for a while is that why you are so good at this? >> yes. >> you are used to snow days, would you rather be at school or doing this? >> this. >> are you shoveling like your brother? >> no. >> that is his job? >> yes. >> how did you get so lucky? >> i don't know. >> what is your favorite snow activity? >> jump in it and make snow angels. >> i hate the snow and need to go away. >> that is mom. >> the kids like it?

5:10 pm
but if you look at the roads now you know it will take extra time for people to get home this evening. plowing is underway but many city streets are slick and slushy. some bus routes were canceled and others detoured making commuters change travel plans david mcknight is taking the bus instead of the train. >> the 26 and, making it home to fire up the snow blower. >> other commuter his to be patient as city bus drivers navigate slippery roads safely. >> he was driving extra slow and he slid a couple of times but we got here safe that is a good thing. traffic is crazy and everything is slow, you want people to drive slow, avoid the nonsense on the road you know what i mean. >> people are taking the last

5:12 pm
collegeville interchange they are still trying to get the victims taken away and get the crash cleared out. instead of 422 stick with ridge pike or 724 expect problems on them as well. in general stick with the highways, but even the highways don't look great. this is the schuylkill expressway westbound side to the turnpike, a disabled smaller bus and the turnpike itself is closed and we see delays in this area any way and westbound traffic can't get by between valley forge and downingtown. we have a number of jackknifed tractor trailers on the stretch 202 and the 30 bypass gets you around it. these are the ramps collecting the schuylkill with the blue route, we have a number of problems with spinning vehicles and the airport line running

private contractors are working all day long to clear sidewalks and cars to stay ahead of it. this three vehicle crash in delaware shows one example of how dangerous the roads can be. this happened at delaware pike this crash was caused by slippery conditions, in montgomery county as well. this is what york road looked like at 8:45 this morning, traffic was light this morning because most schools and some businesses were closed. and the jersey shore was the last to see the change over from lane and sleet to snow today. this is a live picture of arctic and arkansas avenues, it shows how messy the roads are tonight and temperatures are continuing to drop throughout the evening, driving conditions are expected to worsen. >> and in montgomery county the action cam found folks cleaning off their car outside a hotel here crews turned to snow

5:36 pm
and shovel the driveways before you head to bed this evening, because if you don't with such low temperatures crashing in overnight and plummeting by the morning to near records, everything because it's a wet, dense heavy snow will be frozen solid by tomorrow morning. we'll talk about a turn around in the numbers as we go into the seven-day forecast. a lot of melting goes on and a lot of sunshine as well. >> thank you adam. following a relatively calm morning of rain and slush in the diamond state it didn't take long for conditions to deteriorate, a del/dot plow train took on kirkwood highway, several inches of snow were piled up and one man ditched his snow shovel and opted for more power, he broke out a small tractor. >> smart guy. >> for more on conditions in the first state lets head to chad pradelli live in newcastle.
