rash. >> reporter: the train left charlotte north carolina around 12:15 this afternoon as you showed us before that train colliding with that tractor-trailer. it was heading from charlotte to new york city with a stop here in philadelphia and the moment of impact was caught on camera by a woman who witnessed it right before her own eyes. >> oh, my god! oh!, oh! >> ooh, ooh. >> reporter:. >> reporter: unbelievable. the crash happened in halifax county north carolina. the locomotive and baggage car, carolynian train 80 derailed. the train's engine flipped on its side. one of the passenger cars is off at an angle and there is debris everywhere. authorities in north carolina have closed two highways near the crash site. there were 212 passengers and eight crew members on board. so far only minor injuries

reported. of course amtrak releasing a statement just moments ago letting everyone know that as this investigation is under way there are of course a lot of people who are worried about friends and family members who may have been on that train so they have set up a special 1800 number for anyone who has any questions or concerns. we have that for you right at the bottom of your screen and also on 6abc.com where we will, of course, continue to follow this story. back to you guys in the studio. >> alicia thanks very much. as we mentioned that train was due in philadelphia in just a few hours. kenneth moton continues our coverage right now with reaction from 30th street station this afternoon. kenneth. >> reporter: well, brian we just spoke with amtrak passengers just moments ago. they're starting to hear the news of this crash and derailment. it's definitely on their minds. take a look at this video. there are no visible signs of any problems inside 30th street station, no disruptions for other trains arriving and departing from this busy and northeast hub for amtrak. as mentioned that train that

"action news" reporter walter perez is live now at the scene with the details on this. hi walter. >> reporter: hey, share here. it happened on berlin cross keys road when this winslow township squad car slammed right into that house right there. as you can see, the scene has been cleared up but we did have a chance to speak with the homeowner. >> shocking. >> reporter: jim bell of winslow township says it was just before 1 o'clock this afternoon when he heard what sounded like a car crash outside his living room window. he quickly peaked out to see a local police squad car careening toward his house. the police vehicle slid sideways on bill's wet lawnside swiping the front of his home. bill says after bouncing off a utility pole on the passenger side and then skidding into

the house on the driver's side that officer was stuck inside his vehicle. >> he was trapped in there for probably just about an hour before they cut him out and he went to the hospital where they said he definitely had a concussion. >> reporter: the officer was reportedly responding to the scene of a crash further south on berlin cross keys road when he tried to pass a pickup truck traveling in the same direction but making a left onto terrace avenue. it's unclear what happened next. but it was at that point when the officer lost control. >> the kid that was making the turn he parked his truck right there and he come running up over the hill and apologizing to the cop and all. he was pretty well shook up himself. >> reporter: all right, back out live, now the police report we're told is not yet complete so the names of the people involved have not been released and no word yet if the driver of the pickup will face any charges, but we're told the officer suffered

relatively minor injuries and is expected to fully recover. reporting live from winslow township, new jersey, walter perez, channel6 "action news" shirleen. >> thank you walter. there is a vigil planned for tonight in honor of fallen philadelphia police officer robert wilson. the group one day at a time is hosting the remembrance at hope plaza where wilson was killed last thursday. wilson volunteered with the addiction recovery group. he was killed thursday while picking up a video game for his son who turned 10 years old today. sarah bloomquist will have more on tonight's vigil tonight at 5:00. >> historic inn that stood for hundreds of year in hunterdon county burned down today in a matter of minutes. huge flames tour through the inn this morning. it started right around 2:00 a.m. at the centuries old building in the 600 block of rosemont ring goes road. fortunate no one was hurt here. investigators still have not yet said how it started. >> it is time for a check of the accuweather forecast on a

beautiful sunny monday. >> one of those days that makes you just smile all day long. meteorologist adom joseph live outside smiling from here to ear and for good reason. >> not a case of the mondays today as we had that sunshine and very comfortable temperatures despite we still have snow on the ground. in fact, in philadelphia we're calling it the fabulous 50's. 57 so far today. the warmest day in over two months for philadelphia. have to go back to january 4th when we were 58 degrees. in fact, some areas are at 58. millville and dover, atlantic city airport on the brink of 60 degrees the same for beach haven. reading right now 50 degrees and a lot cooler in the lehigh valley to the north where temperatures have been stuck only in the upper 40's. however, if you take a look at the lower 48, no signs of winter. spring is finally trying to take over here as we're heading into the middle of march. 59 degrees in bismarck, 58 in wichita, atlanta at 65 degrees

and jacksonville 75. down to the south on double scan live radar we're seeing a bunch of showers downpours and thunderstorms that are pulling together from omaha city dallas to houston all the way over to new orleans and atlanta and a piece of this will be moving in our direction so we are calling for some wet weather as we get into late tomorrow morning and especially in the afternoon. but beyond that, we'll be making a run at 60 degrees, so overall this week we're looking at very mild temperatures. finally a change. shirleen when i come back we'll show you those numbers and it's not the only day we're tracking rain this week. we'll have it all in accuweather. >> as long as you're still tracking some sun, all good. >> all that matters. >> police are asking for your help to find the man police say pulled off a pair of armed robberies. the first happened on february 25th at majestic sun on cottman avenue. police say the suspect pulled a knife on 20-year-old employee and made her give him money from the register. on march 2nd he robbed sally

beauty supply on the same block of cottman avenue. again he had a knife and took cash. police are asking anyone with information to call them. police have looking for the man who robbed a teenaged girl at gun point in philadelphia's pens port section. they gave a surveillance video from february 13th. hopefully we can show that you video. they say the 16-year-old girl was walking at second and moore when she noticed a group of men following her. one stepped in in front of her showed a gun and demanded her cell phone. she gave it to them and they ran off. the teen was not hurt. we'll show you that surveillance video when we can. it is time now for your "action news" traffic report. let's send it on over to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center on a monday. >> yeah, hey shirleen. hope you had a nice weekend. >> yeah. >> and you know, on an afternoon like this everybody wants to be about -- out and about. it is pretty nice. but when we get so many people trying to be out and about well things start to happen. we had a crash here on the

schuylkill expressway eastbound side right by conshohocken. a vehicle flipped over. was blocking both of the eastbound travel lanes for awhile. the good news is as you can see now, the crash is clear. both of the eastbound lanes reopened but very heavy from 202 through this point at conshohocken and westbound you're looking at a 42 minute travel time so just as heavy over there from the vine out to near this point at the blue route. we're also watching a water main break this afternoon in middletown township bucks county blocking big oak road. same general vicinity as where we had problems along big oak on friday morning. this afternoon it's between wood burn and chance reroad. a crash in the work zone on 95. that's gone of course the slow speeds, many in the teens in both directions on 95 are not gone. this is the scene along 95 in delco. southbound side the off ramp from the southbound lanes to 320 is shut down right under the overpass here there's a vehicle facing sideways into the barrier so that off-ramp 95 southbound to 320 is closed

>> gloat a camden family is out of their home this afternoon after part of the house suddenly collapsed while they were inside. the brick facade crumbled here on the 400 block and line street about 11 o'clock last night. gratefully no one was hurt. the homeownerrer says his parents, sister and a two-year-old niece were inside when it happened. >> my dad said he heard a squish. he was sitting in that room right there. we could see the top room. next thing you know he just sees the streets. >> now ali has owned that home since the 80's and says it was compromised by the demolition of the house next door 12 years ago. just last week the city gave him two weeks to fix his home or move out. the red cross is helping that family until they come up with a long term plan. >> well, it's the offensive video that got a fraternity shut down and stick kicked out. it has been closed at the university of oklahoma after this video surfaced over the

weekend. it started with this shocking video appearing to show members of sigma alpha epsilon or sae chanting a racial slur and indicating that african-americans would never be admitted to their fraternity. >> in 20 years i have not seen anything that has so deeply troubled me as this. >> the video was reportedly shot this saturday and posted on youtube by an organization called unheard an alliance of african-american students. it's unclear how it was obtained. overnight the national chapter of sae shut down the oklahoma chapter saying in a statement "we apologize for the unacceptable and racist behavior of the individuals in the video and we are disgust they had any member would act in such a way. students and staff gathered on the university of oklahoma campus before dawn in a peaceful rally. >> i think the strongest thing we can do right now is express

60-degree mark. atlantic city airport 59. millville 58. dover 58 and beach haven coming in at 52 degrees. as we take a look at the last, oh my gosh, about a month or so we have been really in the freezer and february 8th to the 14th, that's when temperatures took a nose dive to around 4 degrees below normal. then the next week we had a stretch of 20 degrees below normal temperatures in philadelphia. then february 22nd to the 28th 11 degrees below normal and just last week temperatures were close to 11 degrees below normal. so, finally we're breaking that weather pattern and getting temperatures that are at or above the norm around here. satellite and radar we see clouds building to the south and you can see all this moisture pulling out of the gulf of mexico that is aiming for our direction. so, future tracker tomorrow morning it's dry. it's late into the morning into the afternoon we see this rain kind of draped over the region and it will be a steady rain tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow night. so, even through 9 o'clock

we're seeing a soaking rain around and then it slowly pull asway early on wednesday morning. still some leftover showers in southern areas. so tuesday afternoon tuesday evening into tuesday night when you take a look at all the different models here, you're forecasting anywhere between about .4 of an inch to an inch of rain so a good quarter to three-quarters inch of rain will be pulling in here over the next 24 hours. and that will help the snow melt as well as these warm temperatures. in fact, tonight the clouds move in. it's a seasonable night. 20's in the northwestern suburbs where any melt dag will refreeze tonight, 34 for philadelphia. and your four day at 4:00 forecast, 49 tomorrow so that's average for this time of year with that rain coming in in the afternoon and evening. and how about this? with the sun returning on wednesday afternoon, the first 60-degree day of 2015, but then we back it off but it's still beautiful, above normal on thursday at 51 and then rain pulls in very late in the day

slammed into a small -- stalled tractor-trailer. the impact toppled the engine car afternoon today. here's what it looked like from a nearby road. >> oh, my god. oh my god. oh oh! oh, jesus. oh, my god. oh jesus. >> unbelievable. 55 people were hurt. 30 were taken by ambulance to the hospital. the others were not seriously injured. amtrak officials say the train was heading from charlotte to new york city stopping in philadelphia. it was carrying an oversized load. it was being escorted by hey way patrol vehicles. it is not known at this hour whether police notified amtrak that the truck was stuck. >> an aspiring rapper turned black-market plastic surgeon is now a convicted killer.

padge victoria windslowe who once bragged she was the mike angelo of buttocks injections was that found guilty of administering a lethal injection back in 2011. "action news" reporter vernon odom was in court today. he joins us live in center city with the details. vernon. >> reporter: the black madame looked extremely upset this afternoon as the jury foreman read the verdict in court guilty on all counts. the defense claims she meant no harm. they hoped to get away with a lesser conviction of manslaughter. padge winslow aka the black madame was convicted of multiple charges including third degree murder. now she's looking at up to 70 years in prison. she injected industrial silicone into the rear end of this woman british break dancer claudia a department rotima.

windslowe who once ran an escort service had taken the witness stand in her own defense. >> when she testified i think her personality was leading a life tricking women and putting on this facade that she's helping people. >> reporter: windslowe's sister left court with no comment. the black madame was also convicted of aggravated assault. she'll be sentenced early june. >> she got a chance to tell her story from day one when i met her. at least i feel very good about the fact she had a full trial. >> reporter: lieutenant john walker led the police investigation into the sensational murder case. on the witness stand the black madame said she had injectioned silicone into thousands of customers over the course of 20 years. >> we started getting calls from numerous young ladies who were injected by this female and suffered serious injury. >> she did it for the money pure and simple that she could bring in women and charge them thousands of dollars to put a fraudulent product in their body. >> reporter: the black madame's sentencing date has been set for june the 11th.

live at the criminal justice center vernon odom, channel6 "action news." >> okay, thank you vernon. jurors have gone home for the day without a verdict in the case of eric torres. he's accused of attempt murder in the shooting of philadelphia police officer edward davies in august 20's 13. prosecutors say torres shot davies during a struggle outside a convenience store. davies had to undergo several surgeries and lost a kidney following the attack. jury deliberations will continue tomorrow. >> it has now been 24 hours since students in bryn mawr learned one of their classmates would not be coming what tock school today. 13-year-old cayman naib's body was discovered yesterday afternoon just yards from his own home. "action news" reporter chad pradelli spoke to the students who are still struggling to cope with this devastating news. he's live in newtown square with the story today. hi chad. >> reporter: hey, brian, we've now learned the cause of death of cayman naib the delaware county medical examiner has ruled his death a

suicide from a self inflicted gunshot wound. shipley students walked into school today their minds not on mathematics or the sciences but rather, on a life lost too soon. an assembly was called and counselors and students reflected on the death of cayman naib, the eighth grader downed dead near darby creek yesterday. >> our goal is to try to be there for each and everyone and to work with the parents to make sure that our students are getting the support and direction they need. >> reporter: cayman disappeared wednesday after receiving an e-mail from the school saying he had incomplete work. an exhaustive search followed focusing on the area near the family's expansive newtown square property. sunday search crews fanned out and found naib not far from the home. shipley headmaster steve pilch says students often receive progress reports via e-mail. >> i don't believe anything we issued inappropriate was communicated.

oncoming traffic in langhorne bucks county last night a driver laid on their horns trying to alert others to the danger coming straight at them on route 1. it was too late. the driver slammed into several cars injuring six people. the driver was also hurt. fortunately, though, nobody died here. police think the driver might have been under the influence at the time. charges are pending the results of a dui test. >> police in delaware are looking for two men allegedly involved in a scam to sell apple ipads. these are pictures of the ipad boxes purchased by a woman in the parking lot of the new castle farm's market yesterday. she says she was approached by the men to buy them for $400 and she agreed. but when she opened the boxes she found ceramic tiles inside instead of an ipad. police are asking anyone with information to call them immediately. >> bill cosby is out with a

>> ♪♪ >> i don't want to put the cart before the horse but i'm going go ahead and say i think we've turned the corner because it's a beautiful monday, days are longer. >> a month of really brutal cold temperatures, we finally flipped the calendar and we've flipped the season so to speak. that last hurrah of winter with that snowstorm, now the temperatures are off to the races so to speak talking about horse talk, off to the races. as we take a look at the action cam which was along the schuylkill river we still have in some ice as you can see a thin layer of in it spots of the schuylkill and it will slowly melt this week with the warm temperatures and some rain. as we take a look at double scan live radar not a cloud to be found today, so that radar scan looking pretty good. we go to the temperatures which has been the talk of the town the last two days. yesterday thrift degrees in philadelphia today so far 57 degrees so with that pair of 50's that is normal for

this time of year today just a little bit above that. to the south 58 in millville right now, 59 atlantic city, beach haven at 60 degrees right now. dover at 58 and a little cooler to the north and northwest. you could see between lancaster and allentown on either side of about 50 degrees. we get the clear skies sky right now but you see some high clouds building just down the pike along washington, baltimore down into parts of central virginia and the clouds will really start to thicken up after midnight tonight as a shrug of rain is pulling out of the gulf of mexico and this is along a boundary that will pull through here tuesday afternoon into tuesday night. so early tomorrow morning for your way to work, to school, it looks dry just some high clouds coming in with some filtered sunshine but by lunchtime rain will be breaking out south and west of philadelphia, turning steadier and heavier into that evening rush tomorrow which will take you extra time to get home from work. even some pockets of moderate rain in southern areas and even 11 o'clock tomorrow night

you can see some of those yellows popping on future tracker so good soaking to come in here tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow night and then it starts to push off the coast as we grab more sunshine working its way from the northwest to the southeast on wednesday morning. how much rain are we looking at? anywhere between about a quarter in far southern areas to a good three-quarters of an inch for much of the delaware valley including parts of the lehigh valley. tonight 28 to 34 as those clouds move in and any of that snow that melted today, it will refreeze in those far northwestern suburbs but staying above freezing for philadelphia tonight and the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast afternoon and evening rain, tomorrow 49 degrees. and then the first 60 of the year comes on wednesday with returning sunshine, so very mild midweek. and we stay mild on thursday. a nice day despite we drop about 9 degrees with that full sun. and then more rain coming in friday evening into friday night and right now saturday looks like a washout with

>> rick and monica, this collision happened in the noon hour in halifax, north carolina. the train was set to make a stop in philadelphia around 7:07 tonight so if you have a loved one or friend who was on board that train we want to tell you right away that amtrak says none of the injuries are life-threatening. that's the latest report on the injuries. so, let's get to the video of what we've seen happen today. we want to start with the aerials of the aftermath of this crash and walk you through what you're seeing. the portion lying on its side there is the train's engine. the luggage car is off at an angle to the tracks and behind the luggage car, you can see a passenger car that was also derailed but remained upright. again this is a collision between amtrak train number 80, the carolinian an low boy trailer truck. the cab of the truck is still intact but the trailer carrying a large load covered in a blue tarp was shredded by the force of the impact. we actuall
