rie. >> rick and monica, this collision happened in the noon hour in halifax, north carolina. the train was set to make a stop in philadelphia around 7:07 tonight so if you have a loved one or friend who was on board that train we want to tell you right away that amtrak says none of the injuries are life-threatening. that's the latest report on the injuries. so, let's get to the video of what we've seen happen today. we want to start with the aerials of the aftermath of this crash and walk you through what you're seeing. the portion lying on its side there is the train's engine. the luggage car is off at an angle to the tracks and behind the luggage car, you can see a passenger car that was also derailed but remained upright. again this is a collision between amtrak train number 80, the carolinian an low boy trailer truck. the cab of the truck is still intact but the trailer carrying a large load covered in a blue tarp was shredded by the force of the impact. we actually have video of the

moment of impact. you can see the blue tarp on the tractor and the trailer sitting on the tracks when this passenger train comes plowing into it. whoever taking the cell phone video reacting to it. amtrak says there were 212 passengers on board and eight crew members so 220 people total. we now know at this time that 55 people were transported to area hospitals with injuries. meanwhile passengers who were okay are wie loaded i don't ton buses that were waiting for them and moved away from the scene. now, we're told the trailer was oversized and was carrying a large electrical unit. it was also apparently trying to make a turn over the tracks when it apparently got stuck. we're also hearing that the truck was being escorted and accompanied by highway patrol vehicles because of its size but it's not clear whether police notified amtrak that the truck was actually stuck at that time. now, as i mentioned, the train was due to stop in philadelphia this evening. if you are looking for information about a passenger on board amtrak has a number

merion township. that is where "action news" reporter david henry is joining us live. david you spoke to the woman's family. >> reporter: yeah, monica and you can imagine how desperately they are seeking any little bit of information. this is where the car was found right here on this stretch of u.s. 422 on friday night around 7:20, it was abandoned in an eastbound lane and 20-year-old deidre magalon was gone, hasn't been seen since. >> not like her to not leave for days on end with no word at all. >> reporter: deidre took her sister jamie's car and left home between 6:40 and 7 o'clock. at 7:20 the car was found abandoned on route 4 22 between the turnpike and route 202. jamie says it has a loose battery cable which apparently came off when deidre was driving. >> i think she hit a pothole and i think it came undone and only i know how to fix that. she would have had no idea. >> reporter: deidre doesn't

have a cell phone to call for help, which also makes it harder to trace her. what happened to her after she left the car is anyones are guess. >> we have had a lot of leads come in and there's been some witness that is believe they may have seen her hitchhiking at or about that time period on 76 and we're following up on those leads. >> reporter: deidre took off in the car without jamie's permission. jamie's wallet was still on the seat when she left it and nothing inside appeared to have been disturbed. earlier today upper merion police searched the area where the car broke down but still no sign of what might have happened. it's possible deidre may have gotten a lift and joined up with friends. but her family is convinced she would have found a way to contact them by now. >> we're just trying stick together through all this and it's hard on all of us. we just want her to come home. >> reporter: deidre's mom says she's impulsive but has never disappeared like this before. >> we love her so much and we would love for her to come home. we all love you and deidre you don't know how many people are out there missing you and

loving you and worrying about you. >> reporter: deidre's family has taken to social media for help in gathering information about her possible whereabouts. we've got pictures of her poster on 6abc that you can look at any time and if you think you may have seen her the police want to hear from you at 911 right away. live in upper merion, david henry, channel6 "action news." rick. >> david thank you for that report. a 21-year-old has been charged we had drunk driving after police say he struck and killed a recent university of delaware graduate over the weekend. a makeshift memorial has formed at the newark intersection where amanda haggle stein was hit on sunday. police say she was crossing the street with a friend while oncoming traffic had a green light. her friends saw a car coming and stopped but she continued. she was hit and later died at the hospital. today she's being remembered as a passionate person full of life. >> bubbly, intelligent, a good looking girl.

she had a future ahead of her. i'm just so devastated of what happened to her. it really hit me pretty hard. >> police say 21-year-old kyle lloyd was behind the wheel at the time. he left the scene but was found by police a short time later. he has since been released on bail. >> in less than an hour a candlelight vigil will honor murdered philadelphia police officer robert wilson. mourners will gather at the north philadelphia shopping center where he was killed last week. that's where "action news" reporter sarah bloomquist is live for us with more on tonight's tribute. sarah. >> reporter: monica, that's right, the vigil is set for 6:00 p.m. here in front of the game stop store where officer robert wilson, iii was shot and killed on thursday afternoon. we've been told that a group of organizers will start marching down lehigh avenue beginning at 5:30 ending up at this spot. meantime you can see behind me this memorial is growing here in front of the store as the community looks for ways to remember, mourn and honor officer wilson while helping

his two young sons. it's tax season here at the h and r block at the hope plaza on 21st and lehigh. their thoughts are on officer robert wilson and his family. as a memorial grows larger by the minute outside the game stop where he was shot and killed. they closed early because of the snow. only later did they find a bullet had gone right through the front window. surely one of them would have been hit had they been there. >> could have been people signing in or anything, just scary to think that something like that could actually happen where you work at. >> i hate that it happened you know, but -- and it's so close to home. it's just overwhelming. >> reporter: around 4:45 officer wilson was inside the game stop buying a birthday present for his eldest son who turns 10 today. police say 29-year-old carleton hipps and 24-year-old ramon williams came in with guns drawn and engaged in a fierce gun battle with the officer who was shot in the head and died. the suspects, brothers were

north philadelphia. chopper 6 is over the scene of a shooting that happened just about 20 minutes ago here at the intersection of 12th street and somerset street. again, this is north philadelphia. details are sketchy right now but we do know a person was shot. do not know the condition of the victim but police are searching for a gunman at this hour. you can see a number of cruisers there at the scene as they investigate exactly what happened. the victim apparently was found a block away from the shooting -- a block away on rush street and that's where we're looking right now where the victim was found and apparently has been transported to the hospital, but again, the search continues for a gunman. this also happened in front of a nearby school, the clymer george school on west rush street. so again a shooting under investigation by philadelphia police right now. we're still trying to determine the condition of the victim and the search for a gunman. we'll continue to update this breaking news story as more information becomes available to us from north philadelphia. well, after a long winter crews in new jersey are turning their focus from clearing the roads to fixing

them. the action cam was in hamilton township mercer county today for an up close look at how crews filled potholes all across the garden state. the state rents special machines that fix potholes without having to put any crews on the street. officials say they expect to spend at least $4 million fixing 300,000 potholes in the next month. >> speaking of which, time for a check of our "action news" traffic report for you monday night. >> matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center with the latest on the commute home tonight that hopefully won't encounter many potholes but a lot of traffic i guess. >> i thought i was going to lose a wheel a couple times. >> i know. >> there are a ton of them out there and this afternoon we're not only dodging them but dodging some unpleasantness along 95. you're losing time if you're headed for 95. northbound side's locked up from the commodore barry bridge through this point just north of the blue route where there's an accident. vehicle favoring sideways taking out the left lane. very slow northbound but even slower southbound from just past the airport on down to 320. that's where the off ramp from

>> a prize winning belgian dog is dead after officials say poison was put in its food. today the dog owner's says they don't think a competitor is to blame. jagger died last week shortly after competing in england's biggest dog show. a veterinarian says pieces of meat laced with poison were found in the dog's stomach. the owners think the person responsible had a grudge against dogs orr the dog show but not jagger himself. >> we can't and we won't think it was an act of another exhibit tour. if we thought this we couldn't go on. >> the owners also believe their other dog which competed in best in show was the intended target. authorities in the uk and belgium say they have not been asked to investigate. >> protests continued for third straight day after an unarmed black teenager was

shot and killed by police in madison, wisconsin. today dozens gathered to rally against the deadly shooting of 19-year-old tony robinson. police say robinson matched the description of an assault suspect allegedly jumping in and out of traffic last week. robinson hid in an apartment. an officer forced himself and side. that officer says he was attacked by robinson and was forced to fire in self-defense. court documents show a previous case now showing robinson suffered from adhd and tended to be antisocial and impulsive. >> time for health check a new incentive to spend more time in a supermarket produce aisle. >> health reporter and registered nurse ali gorman is at the big board tonight to explain. hey, ali. >> hey guys. i'm always telling people to try to eat more fruits and vegetables it can lower your risk for diabetes and heart disease. it can also help you lose weight and now you can add another benefit to the list. it can significantly cut the risk for colon cancer. in a study of 77,000 people

>> time for accuweather. at the "action news" big board meteorologist cecily tynan. boy did we catch a big break today. >> what a day. it changes your mood when you have beautiful weather like today. i saw a lot of people running with shorts today. i saw one guy running without a shirt today. it wasn't you, rick. i don't know if it's that warm. 57 degrees. that's 7 degrees above the average high for this time of the year and the warmest day in more than two months since january 4th when we hit 58 degrees. still pretty mild out there. you just need a light jacket. 56 degrees in philadelphia, millville 57. wilmington 56. allentown 50. trenton 53. and wildwood currently 55 degrees. satellite6 along with action radar showing we have clear skies now. not going the last long, though. if you look down to the south and west you see all this moisture. low pressure over texas and that moisture will be moving our way as we head through the overnight hours and tomorrow especially in the afternoon is going to be wet and tomorrow night as we will. so future tracker showing around 2 o'clock in the afternoon the moisture is

>> "action news" continues with meteorologist adam joseph,. >> here's what's happening on "action news" tonight. it once played host to president george washington but tonight a beloved hunterdon county landmark is nothing more than a shell of burned wood and metal. we're live with what happened here. also a school bus carrying several people overturns on a busy roadway an fraternity is out at the university of oklahoma after video of a racist chant goes viral. sharrie williams has the story coming up. >> now the details. the old sturgisville inn sat

in the middle of a small town for over 300 years. it took just hours for heavy smoke and flames to destroy the rich history kept within its walls. tonight residents are mourning the loss of their treasured landmark as investigators try to figure out what happened. nora muchanic live with that story for us. nora. >> reporter: monica, heartbroken is the word we keep hearing. residents feel like they've lost an old friend. it's hard to look into the sun but this is the place that has survived for three centuries on the corner here in the township. the stone walls are still standing but the inside has been destroyed. >> i saw the smoke pouring out of the windows and the roof and then the flames came. >> reporter: this is what elaine woke up to around 2:00 this morning huge flames leaping through the roof of the historic sergeantsville inn. >> it's a total loss in there. right now there's a lost

damage, a lot of structural day. it took two tankers ferrying water from area hydrants to control the fire along with draining 90 percent of a nearby water tank. the sergeantsville inn is an important gathering place at the crossroads of town. >> the inn is the center of the world to us, center of the universe. everything that happens in delaware township happens at the inn. >> i had my bridal shower, my baby shower, one of the first dates with my husband. >> it's really heartbreaking really is. more for the people and the patrons than the building. >> reporter: owners lisa and joe collide declined comment as they surveyed the damage. the inn was built in the early 1700's and over the years has served as a feed and grain storks a pelt trading center, an ice cream par lon. it's been a well regarded restaurant since the 1980's. president george washington is said to have visited the inn. >> when you figure there's wood in there that was cut when george washington was a little boy, you know, and it's tough to look at.

>> once it ignited you were never going to stop it 'cause it was just so dry from being built in 1700, that's a long time ago. >> reporter: chris had dinner at the inn just last night. >> i am freaked out. i'm in total shock and denial. i can't even believe it. >> reporter: looking at the burned out shell of the old stone structure, a woman whose family once owned the building says she's heartbroken it's been gutted. >> i remember the bedroom i slept in. it's sad. this is such an important part to the community. >> reporter: back live now they are boarding up the building at this point. one firefighter suffered a minor injury at the scene. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. but the prosecutor's office says at this point it does not look suspicious. now, locals have already begun a facebook page called save the inn and we are hearing that the owners are hoping to rebuild. live in delaware township, i'm nora muchanic, channel6 "action news." >> all right, thank you, nora. chopper 6 hd over the scene of an overturned school bus in lumberton burlington

county this afternoon. it happened about 3:00 p.m. near main street and bella road. authorities tell "action news" 10 people were on the bus. it's not clear if any of them were children. residents in philadelphia's east mount airy section were briefly evacuated after part of their apartment building collapsed this morning. chopper 6 hd over the johnson court apartments in the 6300 block of crittendon street about 9:00 a.m. now, you see that part of the facade here near the bottom of the building broke free. inspectors are trying to determine what caused that collapse. >> delaware state police are still trying get to the bottom of a double shooting on a busy highway over the weekend. investigators have determined that the van carrying the two victims was going north on 495 yesterday morning, veered onto southbound route 13 and ended up in a ditch in minquedale. soon after a driver stopped and saw the van riddled with bullets. the man in the passenger seat was dead, the female driver who also suffered gun shot wounds was still alive.

later authorities found several bullet casings inside an abandoned ford explorer on i-495. >> after that was located, that's when we backtracked from this location here on route 13 back up to 495 and determined that that was possibly a second crime scene up on 495. >> officials say the woman is recovering at a local hospital. they have not yet released her name or the name of the male victim. philadelphia detectives are looking for a thief who pulled off a pair of armed robberies. the first one happened back on february 25th at majestic sun on cottman avenue. the suspects allegedly pulled a knife on 20-year-old employee and demand money from the register. then on march 2nd investigators say the same man did the same thing inside a sally beauty supply store which is on the same block of cottman avenue. >> a bucks county father and son accused of taking money for construction work they never completed appeared in court today. 60-year-old john thayer pleaded no contest.

he and his son ryan ran bristol township based hammer time construction and demolition. investigators accuse the two of bilking nine customers. ryan thayer will be back in court at a later date. officials looking for two men that claimed that these boxes contained ipads. they sold them to two women outside the farm's market yesterday for 400 bucks but when one of the buyers opened the box she found ceramic tiles instead of ipads. police are asking anyone with information to call them immediately. >> well, many casinos are closing in atlantic city. the trump name isn't going anywhere. it will still be part of the taj mahal there. donald trump has reached an agreement with billionaire investor carl icahn who acquired the trump taj mahal. the donald was suing to have his name stripped from the resort on the grounds that the bankruptcy proceedings were hurting his personal brands. trump's name will remain with

the taj mahal as it fights for survival in ac. >> at the "action news" big board now fraternity members of sigma alpha epsilon at the university of oklahoma have until tomorrow night to leave their house. this after video surfaced of the frat taking part in a racist chant while on a charter bus. the university students and the national chapter of sae wasted no time in taking action. >> pack your bag, that's the message from the university of oklahoma to the members of the sigma alpha epsilon fraternity after this shocking video went viral. >> reporter: the video appears to show members of the fraternity chanting a racial slur and indicating that african-americans would never be admitted to the fraternity. >> reporter: the video was reportedly shot this saturday and posted on youtube by an organization called unheard an alliance of african-american students. it's unclear though, how it

was obtained. oklahoma's president said today the students' behavior on that bus was disgraceful and that all ties between the university and sae have been severed. >> i hope they think long and hard about what they've done. i hope they think long and hard about how words can injure and hurt some of the people. >> reporter: students and staff gathered this morning for a peaceful protest. >> we're disgusted there this happened on campus. >> learn from it, grow from it and build as a community and unify. >> reporter: the university's president said there will be an investigation to determine whether additional actions will be taken against the fraternity members but that will take time. though he was blunt about what he wants to see happen to those involved. sigma alpha epsilon's national chapter says it was disgusted

us that nobody was hurt. movie director has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter one year after one of his crew members was killed during filming. last year a freight train plowed into director ran dollar miller's crew while they were shooting a movie on a georgia railroad bridge. one person was killed, six others injured. well, now miller will have to spend two years in jail. miller's wife will walk free as part of the guilty plea. >> the international cycling union is now under fire tonight for allegedly trying to protect lance armstrong from a doping scandal. according to an independent report out today, the world's top cycling officials gave armstrong special treatment. the report details how officials worked to disqualify armstrong's urine tests which tested positive for performance enhancing drugs. now u.s. anti-doping officials are calling for a full investigation. >> also in sports, phillies pitcher cliff lee is again dealing with injuries. >> jaime apody live in the

"action news" sports center tonight with more on that. hey, jamie. >> hey, guys. we already had low expectations for the phillies but at least the top of the rotation is solid. was solid. because once again cliff lee is having elbow issues and today he says it could be something that ends his career. lee has been shut down after experiencing the same soreness in his elbow that limited him to just 13 starts last season. he's waiting on a second opinion from dr. james andrews. if he recommends surgery that will cost lee the season, maybe even his career he says. >> obviously it's very disappointing with all the stuff i did in the off season to prevent something like this from happening. it's frustrating i mean, it's still a possibility that it's scar tissue and it's normal but there's also a possibility that it's coming back and that's very frustrateing and you know, i just know that i did everything i could to prevent it. >> phils and orioles in action today in sarasota. not much offense in this game

now in the lehigh valley. 56 for philadelphia, 57 in wilmington, 57 in millville 55 in wildwood and even at the shore. in atlantic city our temperature coming in at 58 degrees. it felt so great not only yesterday at 50 degrees but today's 57 in philadelphia because of the last month we were dealt with. it was brutal starting early in february. that first week of 4 degrees below average and then the last three weeks we averaged in philadelphia with temperatures between about 11 and 20 degrees below normal. so, anything is going to feel like a heat wave around here, even just the normal temperature of 50 this time of year. as we see that sunshine that we're grasping right now we will lose it fairly quickly after sunset the clouds will be increasing from the south and west. they'll thicken up overnight tonight and eventually we'll get a good shrug of rain which is now moving out of the gulf of mexico. low pressure developing down near texas will push to the north and east and slide just to our south late tuesday into

tuesday night. so, early tomorrow morning it is a dry morning rush hour with sun some filtered sun but the clouds really taking control and then rain arrives around the lunchtime hour pretty much for everybody. turns steadier and heavier in the afternoon and evening. in fact tomorrow evening's rush allow a lot of extra time with the melting snow in combination with some of that moderate rain and it turns heavy at times with the pockets of yellow even as late a as 11 o'clock on tuesday before it starts to pull out of here in time for the morning rush on wednesday. we're looking at a general quarter to three-quarters of a and inch of rain, some areas trying to pop near an inch but i think most areas will stay closer to that half inch to three-quarters of an inch especially near that i-95 corridor. overnight tonight the clouds will be moving in. seasonable temperatures, 28 in the suburbs so there will be some refreezing in those northwestern suburbs 34 degrees in center city. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast after little bump in the road tomorrow with that rain arriving into tomorrow night at 49 degrees,
