good morning, america. and breaking news. seven marines and four soldiers missing after an army black hawk goes down in heavy fog, crashing during a training exercise in florida. we're going to have the very latest for you right now. hillary on the hot seat. the former secretary of state finally answers questions about that private e-mail scandal. >> i thought using one device would be simpler and obviously it hasn't worked out that way. >> admitting she deleted some personal messages but claims she broke no rules. the new questions this morning. >> an abc news exclusive. the family of that little boy snatched out of his stroller speaking out for the first time. >> i thought he was trying to kidnap him. >> the hero sister and brother who came to the rescue sharing their story. what they're saying this morning about those heart-pounding moments as they chased the kidnapper down the street. and trouble on the tracks. take a look at this.

a man falls between train cars seconds before it leaves the station. one witness tries to stop the train as it pulls away. how did he walk away from this? we do say good morning, america. how about that video? hard to believe, so thankful he was able to walk away from this. one witness saying he seemed shaken up but otherwise okay. >> what a lucky man. we have a lot to get to including a verdict in that "blurred lines" trial. robin thicke and pharrell ordered to pay marvin gaye's family more than $7 million. a landmark case and experts are saying it could change the way music is made. first to the breaking news. terrible accident a helicopter with 511 troops on board going down during a routine training at eglin air force base in florida. we're just learning new details this morning and abc's martha

raddatz is in washington with the latest. good morning, martha. >> reporter: good morning, robin. this is a terrible reminder that even in training what the military does is dangerous and can be every bit as deadly as combat. it was a special operations training mission. a night training mission which makes it all the more challenging. two black hawk helicopter its army pilots presumably using night vision goggles during the exercise at eglin air force base in the florida panhandle. at about 8:30 p.m. one of the black hawks with seven special operations marines on board and four-member crew disappeared. >> there was fog. i do not know at this time if it was a contributing factor but when our search and rescue personnel arrived on scene there was very limited visible. >> reporter: the debris was finally located about 2 a.m. they're the from camp lejeune. the army piles and crew national guard from hammond,

louisiana. the second helicopter made it back to base. this is the second training accident involving a helicopter in the last several months. two marines died at the end of january. but it has been more than 12 weeks since any u.s. military personnel died in combat. robin. >> are there they concerns martha about this type of aircraft? >> reporter: well it's the black hawk and it's the workhorse helicopter of the army so no real safety concerns about that particular helicopter. just a reminder again, of how dangerous these real-life exercises can be robin. >> yes, it is a reminder. thank you, martha. we turn to hillary clinton and that press conference where she tried to quiet the controversy over her terminal e-mail account as secretary of state. clinton said in hindsight it was a mistake to set up that account but insisted she followed all the rules and revealed for the first time she deleted more than 30,000 e-mails calling them personal. jon karl there and joins us.

>> reporter: this was hillary clinton's first press conference in more than two years but she may have raised more questions than she answered. a late night comedian show nod mercy following hillary clinton's press conference. >> she did not want to have two phones. she couldn't be like hey, man, could you hold this other phone for me? >> reporter: she finally explained why she used private e-mail for official business as secretary of state. >> looking back it would have been better for me to use two separate phones and two e-mail accounts. i thought using one device would be simpler and obviously it hasn't worked 0 out that way. >> reporter: republicans were quick to pounce on that explanation circulating this video of clinton from last month indicating she no longer minds having two devices. >> iphone or android? [ laughter ] >> iphone. okay in full disclosure -- >> blackberry.

>> and a blackberry. >> reporter: understate department rules enforced while she was secretary employees must turn over any e-mails from private accounts that relate to official business. but clinton didn't do that until 22 months after she left office. why did you not go along with state department rules until nearly two years after you left office? >> the laws and regulations in effect when i was secretary of state allowed me to use my e-mail for work. >> reporter: why did you wait to turn those e-mails over? the rules say you have to turn them over? >> i don't think -- i'd be happy to have somebody talk to you about the rules. i fully complied with every rule i was governed by. >> reporter: now, hillary clinton said that after she went and organize e-mails determining which ones were official business to be sent over to the state department and which were personal, she deleted about 30,000 e-mails she determined to be purely personal. as you can imagine, george republicans are saying that raises serious questions. they want her to turn over her

e-mail server to be examined. she says she will not do that. >> she's not going to do that and hear the congressman in charge of this benghazi committee says he wants mrs. clinton to come up not once but twice now to the committeement one to simply answer questions about the e-mails. >> reporter: mrs. clinton has signaled she is willing to voluntarily appear before that committee but as you can imagine highly unlikely she would agree to come back to that committee twice because it's almost certain both of those appearances would have to be after she is a declared candidate for president. >> thanks very much. now to the latest fallout from that racist video at the university of oklahoma. the school expelled two fraternity members after caught on video landing the chant and we're learning more about two of the stufrptss involved. abc's ryan owens has that story. >> reporter: students here have

a new chant they'd like to be known for. protesting overnight outside the now vacant home of the sigma alpha epsilon fraternity. >> you can hang them from a tree -- >> reporter: as this morning parker rice leading members of sae in that now infamous chant is apologizing publicly. i'm deeply sorry for what i did saturday night. it was wrong and reckless. i made a horrible mistake. he goes on to say alcohol may have fueled his bad decision-making but that's not an excuse. yes, the song was taught to us rice continues, but that too doesn't work as an explanation. rice says he withdrew from the university of oklahoma monday, matt lopez was his dormmate here. >> i know parker and he's not a racist. he compromised his morality for the liking of his friends. >> reporter: late tuesday brody and susan pettit said their son levi participated as well. they say he is not a racist and

will live with the consequences forever. overnight national's sae national office responding distancing itself from the ou chapter saying they do not teach that racist chant adding our investigation has found very likely that the men learned the song from fellow chapter members, which reiterates why sigma alpha epsilon did not hesitate to close the chapter completely. and this morning another sign the scandal continues to widen. the president of the university of texas at austin saying he is looking into reports the sae chapter there used exactly the same chant. george. >> this is not over yet, okay ryan thanks very much. the latest on the boston marathon bombing trial where jurors were shown the chilling blood-stained letters dzhokhar tsarnaev wrote inside the small boat where he was captured. abc's tom llamas was inside the courtroom and joins us from boston. good morning tom. >> reporter: george good morning to you. that boat a critical piece of evidence for both sides. the defense trying to build sympathy for dzhokhar tsarnaev

wants jurors to see how he was fired at more than 200 times when he was hiding out. prosecutors showed their cards in court yesterday. pieces of that boat that contain a jihadi message. in court tuesday, prosecutors presenting evidence they say shows the possible motive behind the actions of alleged boston bombers dzhokhar tsarnaev and his brother tamerlan. prosecutors showing these photos taken from inside the boat he was hiding in riddled with bullets and inscribed on them a terror manifesto. writing "the u.s. government is killing our innocent civilians and "we muslims are one body. you hurt one, you hurt us all" his handwrite surprisingly neat given his wounded condition and at one point he praises jihadi fighters know you are fighting men who look into the barrel of your gun and this missing words

because of a bullet hole "now i don't like killing innocent people. it is forbidden in islam but due to -- it is allowed. the defense wants to highlight more than 200 rounds were fired at the boat when he was hiding inside it and hope to build sympathy for the young terrorist in hopes of sparing him the death penalty. the judge ending court early tuesday so he could personally examine the boat himself to determine whether jurors should see the vessel up close. and this morning, jurors are going to learn more about those pressure cooker bombs he and his brother used at the boston marathon. robin. >> all right, tom, thank you. now to the "blurred lines" trial. a jury ruling robin thicke and pharrell williams ripped off marvin gaye awarding that family millions. many experts say this could have a chilling ee federal government on the music business changing how musicians work and opening them up to new copyright claims. abc's kendis gibson has more on that.

♪ blurred lines ♪ >> reporter: this morning the lines are blurred no longer. a federal jury unanimously ruling that robin thicke and pharrell williams -- ♪ -- did indeed rip off marvin gaye's 1977 hit "got to give it up." ♪ >> reporter: awarding the late soul singer's family a cut of the song's profits to the tune of nearly $7.4 million. gaye's family openly emotional. >> i just felt filled. >> reporter: before sharing their reaction exclusively with abc news. >> the jury up there, you know they didn't have to go our way. they copied "got to give it up" and they heard it. it wasn't just us. >> reporter: gaye's family present throughout the ten-day trial which centered around the two songs' similars. both williams and thicke testifying while they are similar in feel "blurred lines" didn't outright copy gaye's work but you will bhaltly their star power failing to sway the jury.

>> it speaks volumes about who we are as a country that no matter who you are, if you do something wrong there are consequences. >> reporter: pharrell williams along with thicke and rapper t.i. who the jury did not find liable were not in court on tuesday. but tell abc news in a joint statement they are extremely disappointed in the ruling which sets a horrible precedent for music and creativity going forward but with this two-year legal battle over "blurred lines" finally cleared up gaye's family now hoping both sides can mend fences in we want to put together a tribute show and maybe pharrell will participate. >> reporter: for "good morning america," kendis gibson, abc news, los angeles. ♪ so fine ♪ >> that would be some show. >> it would be quite a show but it will be interesting to see if this affects the music industry going forward. >> yeah it really will. now to amy with the other top stories right now. a major jewel heist >> that's right, the details just coming in. police say more than a dozen armed suspects hijacked two vans

on a highway in central france making off with an estimated $9 million in jewels. police have recovered the vavens burned in a forest not far away but not surprisingly all the jus gone. they're launching a manhunt in the air and on the ground for the suspects. also breaking progress in the fight against isis. iraqi forces say they've captured the presidential palace in saddam hussein's home city of tikrit and they expect to retake the entire city from isis by the end of the day today. coalition air strikes have cut off isis supply routes. iranian advisers have played a significant role in the fight also. back here at home new worries on wall street. all of this year's gains on the dow have been wiped out following tuesday's 332-point loss. it's the biggest drop since last october. investors are worried the improving economy will prom the federal reserve to raise interest rates soon. utah could soon become the only state to allow execution by firing squad. lawmakers have approved the idea

as a backup method if lethal injection drugs are unavailable due to a shortage. it's up to the governor whether to finalize that plan. and new fallout from the scathing justice department report about racial bias in ferguson, missouri. we learned overnight the city manager has resigned in the last week the city clerk has been fired and a judge and two police officers have resigned. some frightening moments on the washington, d.c. subway. you see that man stumbling near the train there. well he then falls between the cars, look at that down on to the tracks. people on the platform jump and yell trying to stop the train from moving but it starts rolling out of the station anyway. onlookers fear the man is crushed but look closely seconds later, boom he hops back up. he had apparently squeezed into a safe area. they lifted him on to the platform completely uninjured. wow. well, the dangers of live tv were on display in south africa. the camera was rolling as this reporter and his crew were

robbed by two men just moments before going on the air. look at that. the suspects got away with cell phones and a computer. the good news at least no one was injured. and finally if you just can't get motivated to go to the gym today let this man be your inspiration. 95-year-old charles eugster just set a new world record in the 200-meter sprint and finished in over 55 seconds beating the previous record holder in his age bracket by two seconds. he is aree tired dentist from england of the my favorite part to celebrate he decided to go back to his hotel and take a nap. he earned it. >> he earned it. so what is his age bracket? >> 95 and up. >> you go, charles. >> that's right. >> that's great. we're going to switch gears and talk about the latest on harrison ford who is still recovering from that plane crash. well the initial report on the crash is now out. and reveals he made a critical decision that saved more than just his own life.

abc's brandi hitt has the story. >> reporter: harrison ford is used to playing a hero on the big screen. >> nice landing. >> thanks. >> reporter: but this morning a preliminary report on the actor's near deadly plane crash reveals ford made a critical decision at the controls that may have saved lives on the ground. >> 53-178, engine failure. immediate return. >> reporter: the ntsb investigators reporting just seconds after suffering engine problems the avid pilot initiated a left turn towards the airport which you can see put him over the golf course a right turn back to the airport would have put the plane directly over homes. >> your biggest problem is landing somewhere that you're not going to hit something and he did that very very well landing on the golf course. >> reporter: the report says the airplane struck the top of a tall tree prior to impacting the ground sustaining substantial damage to both wings and the fuselage. it also confirmed ford was seriously injured. ford's wife calista flockhart

terrifying kidnapping caught on tape. you see a man running off with a small boy, the toddler's sister and brother foil the attempt by chasing after the man. he drops the toddler but gets away and this morning we're hearing from the family for the first time. neal karlinsky brings us that abc news exclusive. >> a man grabbed a 2-year-old baby child and was running with it and the little kid started screaming. >> reporter: this morning in an abc news exclusive we're hearing for the first time the story behind this heart-pounding moment that almost changed a life forever, a man running away with a toddler snatched from a park chased by the toddler's sister and then her brother. what did you think when you saw him grab your brother? >> i thought he was trying to kidnap him. >> so what did you do? >> i ran and screamed. >> reporter: 8-year-old delisia and 10-year-old brendan wright told us how they sprung into action. what did he say to you? >> well he said he's nice to kids and he been baby-sitting

for a long time. >> reporter: really. so he tried to make friends with you? >> yeah. but he lied to me. >> reporter: he did lie to you. the suspect dropped 22-month-old owen down the street after two teenagers joined in the chase. police still tracking the suspect and hoping to i.d. him while little owen is home and doing fine thanks to his very brave brother and sister. weren't you afraid to be chasing after a bad guy? >> no. >> reporter: no? >> i was chasing him because -- so i can get him back for my cousin's birthday party. >> reporter: the kids' father was shaken by what happened but beyond relieved and proud. >> i fortunately am very lucky i still have my son owen with me you know and for my kids to sit there, run after him, you know that's an act of courage.

>> reporter: for "good morning america," neal karlinsky, abc news, sprague, washington. >> wow. >> that was incredible. i love that little boy, fearless and focused of he had to get to the birthday party. >> that's right. wow, just flat everybody is okay and hopefully they'll find out who did that. but now to the man facing trial for allegedly trying to defraud facebook falsely claiming he owned half the company. he's on the run right now vanishing just weeks before his trial was set to begin. abc's linsey davis has that story for us. >> reporter: this morning a massive manhunt for an alleged facebook fraudster. paul ceglia is supposed to face trial in may on charges he tried to scam mark zuckerberg out of millions using fake documents but authorities say he's gone without a trace. leaving even his lawyer baffled. >> where might he be? i don't know. i have no clue. >> reporter: on sunday a frustrating clue. u.s. marshals finding his electronic monitoring bracelet at his home but no ceglia. then when the 41-year-old husband and father failed to

show up for a court appearance on tuesday, the judge revoked his bail and questioned whether ceglia had been planning an escape for months. >> i never had a sense that he might flee. this is out of character as i know paul to be. >> reporter: ceglia's legal battle with facebook reads like a scene out of "the social network". >> do you realize you jeopardized the entire company and -- >> reporter: in 2010 he sued zuckerberg claiming the facebook co-frowneder promised hill half of the company seven years earlier while "the social network" was in development. he was once employed as a computer programmer and cited a contract they said they signed to seal the deal. the problem, a federal judge would rule the contract and other evidence he presented were all a fabrication resulting in current mail and wire fraud charges. zuckerberg was expected to testify at the upcoming trial and ceglia who has pleaded not guilty could face up to 40 years in prison if convicted. of course they have to find him

because it's not me and that's as an actor i love to get to do that and i think the film itself like what price plays in, this is like -- it's really a great action movie but has a real story to it so i love it like the story about the father/son relationship is like a classic gangster tale. >> it really is. and when liam was here and talking, we showed a little of the clip. you all are in this fight scene where he even -- well i don't want to give away too much of it but you like that physical -- >> oh i love it. it was like i couldn't wait to go man-to-man with liam neeson you know our characters -- when i told my friends i was in a movie with liam neeson they were like i bet he's going to kick your ass -- >> can we say that in the morning, no because that's the kind of character we see from him and i mean this you really hold your own in this film but you said you also want -- you appreciate the roles like you had in "selma." >> yes. >> this is a fun action flick but you wanted to have roles that inspire people lift people

up. >> yeah well i feel like i like diversity as an actor. i like to be able to go from anything from a love story to drama to action. but all of it having character and, you know of course "selma" was incredible blessing. just to have depth as human beings so we can show the depth because acting you can inspire people through these stories and you can help people through storytelling also. >> and through music, as well. so which one is it and which one do you find a little more challenging and difficult? >> i mean you know because i'm newer to acting there's more challenge but that makes it pore exciting. i love creating both. i love being a musician. i love being an actor and god willing i'll just continue to keep growing. >> going to do this and still record. >> yes, yes. >> all right. i said this. you may be back at the oscars one day as a nominee for your acting ability. >> ooh. >> might have room for that --

>> it 8:27. chopper 6 is live over breaking news. the cab of a tractor-trailer veered off the new jersey turnpike in mount laurel and its cab is currently sitting in the woods overturned. the trailer is still upright. no word on any injuries but police say no one became trapped in the crash. karen rogers has word of delays at that scene. >> yeah, you can see the skid marks in this area. looks like he smashed into the tree as well. a number of emergency workers on the scene as chopper zooms out we can see traffic is getting by. it's blocking the right lane, blocking the shoulder. they may need to restrict some of more of these lanes as they pull this cab up. in meantime traffic is moving on the new jersey turnpike. this is southbound past exit 5. that's 541. chopper 6 live in hd checking out the scene right now on the turnpike with that nasty accident. i want to go to the maps. we have a couple of accidents in the area so that's the one on the turnpike and this one on 73 southbound is causing a
