first it was officers from the 22nd district where officer wilson served, then it was police brass now it is other officers from across the city. it has been an emotional scene out here at 52nd and whitby and one we've seen all too often. philadelphia police brass and officers of the 22nd district gathered before the public viewing a block away led by commissioner charles ramsey they marched down whitby to the funeral home at 52nd. out front was officer robert wilson, iii's cruiser. they went inside to pay respects to a man who paid the ultimate price to protect and serve. >> these are two days that i certainly. not looking forward to but we have to get through it. we have to get the men and women of the department through the especially the 22nd district. >> reporter: the family of officer wilson arrived at the francis funeral home just after 2 o'clock this afternoon. they embraced wilson's brothers and sisters in blue route his 10-year-old son had

to make the journey inside, no child should have to endure. >> you can't describe it. just to see the look on their face and the grief and the pain and the officers that are involved and the officers that worked with him every day. >> i spent a lot of time with the family. he's leaving two young boys behind. one 10-year-old that has not had enough time with his dad but a one-year-old who will never have any memories of him. >> reporter: fellow officers say officer wilson was always quick with a smile and a quip. his life was cut short by the barrage of gunfire allegedly at the hands of brothers ramon williams and carleton hipps attempting to rob this game stop in north philadelphia. officer wilson was there to buy his son a gift for good grades and his birthday. he shielded customers and returned fire. for those customers his fellow officers and others here he is a hero. >> it's not just what he did

jermaine read was shot to death by bridgeton police officers on december 30. dash cam video showed police stopping a car in which read was a passenger. the officers ordered him not to move but reed exited the vehicle as police opened fire. his family said reed was unarmed and had his hands in plane view. their lawsuit calls for state and federal investigations and damages topping $1 million. cumberland county is currently handling the probe. >> here at the big board authorities say this man sexually assaulted a woman at a montgomery county tanning salon. police say marshall gibson is the man captured on surveillance video back on february 25th. the suspect walked into glow tans on north wales road in montgomery township and asked a female employee to use the bathroom. well, that's when they say he showed her a knife threatened her and then sexually assaulted her. terrified, police say she

complied. >> i believe the victim here felt very comfortable allowing an individual in, wanted to do something to help another person and never really felt that her security or safety would be jeopardized in any way and unfortunately she did have a very harrowing day. >> well, gibson is facing rape and other charges. he was arraigned this week and he is currently being held on $25,000 bail. brian. >> all right alicia a four-year-old boy was found safe today hours after he was kidnapped. police say yan department l rosario was taken from his home on the 2800 block of hope street. his mother said her ex-boyfriend carlos lebron jr. took her child without permission around 3 o'clock this morning. more than six hours later police said they located the child and took lebron into custody. >> the sale of the revel casino has hit another major roadblock today a bankruptcy judge denied the deal florida developer glen straub wants to buy revel for $82 million but there are all kinds of appeals

in the works surrounding different parts of the deal. today judge gloria burns said that's led both sides to make significant changes to the deal and that she does not have the authority to approve them. revel's attorneys asked the judge to reconsider. she says she will do that on monday. >> it is time now for a first check of the accuweather forecast as the clouds begin to build in this afternoon. >> yeah, let's go over to meteorologist adam joseph. >> high pressure right now is off to our north and east over boston and that's applied the sunshine this morning but as that high is pulling away, winds are wrapping in out of the east adding some moisture off of the atlantic and we've got that storm to the south that's also throwing clouds our way but temperatures are a little cooler than average. 47 right now in philadelphia. you can see the 50's invading to the south and west so some warmth will arrive with this storm especially philadelphia points south. stepping out on this friday evening on the town it does remain dry right through 10 o'clock tonight as the clouds continue to thicken and

temperatures will slowly fall from the mid 40's to the lower 40's between nine and 10 o'clock and there won't be a quick drop in temperature because of that cloud cover. double scan live radar will show there is a lot of precipitation from oklahoma city to jackson mississippi right through the tennessee the ohio valley and aiming in our direction. in fact future tracker right now shows that rain to our west and south. it starts to pull in around the midnight area to the west of philadelphia, then turns steady and heavy especially for tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock even a little bit of yellow popping near philadelphia with some of the steadier heavier rainfall. so what to expect here as we go into the first part of the weekend tomorrow? it's a saturday soaker, especially the first half of the day. the heaviest will fall between 5 o'clock in the morning and 11 o'clock in the morning. even in the afternoon it is damp with scattered showers at times and also because the ground is still a little frozen there will be some ponding on the rose to watch especially during that 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. period.

quickly. >> they are not going anywhere very quickly. here we are on the schuylkill expressway. just actually starting to move just a bit. moments ago it looked like a still shot, really slow going. we're starting to see those travel times creep up. these are our westbound lanes right at city avenue. moving over to the boulevard again a nice still shot. you can see those northbound lanes really not moving very quickly at all as they make their way up to broad street. and as you're going southbound over the river you can see it's slow going jumping onto the schuylkill expressway as well. taking a look at the big picture speeds across the region dropping down into the teens. we're 15 miles per hour on the blue route. very slow as you make your way up to the vine street expressway on the eastbound lanes of the schuylkill and as well 95 northbound and southbound right now. we have a few incidents to tell you about. the first one is in pottstown. 100 northbound at west moreland road and another one at norristown at powell avenue. mass transit, all services on

>> ♪♪ >> the manhunt continues today in ferguson, missouri for the person who shot two police officers. saint louis county police say they don't have any suspects yet. they've taken several people into custody since that shooting thursday morning. but they've all been released after questioning. the two officers were in a line of about 25 officers in front of the ferguson police station when someone opened fire. one was hit in the face, the other in the shoulder. both are expected to recover.

last night president obama was on jimmy kimmel live and says the protest and outrage in ferguson are no excuse for violence. >> whoever fired those shots shouldn't detract from the issue. they're criminals. they need to be arrested. >> the state and county are now keeping order in ferguson after taking over for local police. >> police in washington, d.c. still have not said what led up to a deadly shooting in a subway tunnel. it happened last night at potomac avenue station about a mile and a half from the capitol. police say transit officers got a call about an unauthorized person walking on the tracks. they ended up shooting and killing that man but they haven't said who he is, what he was doing there or why they shot him. no one else was hurt. >> ♪♪ >> all right to business on this friday afternoon. stocks ended the week on a low note. the dow lost 145 points today, the nasdaq also down 21 and a

half. the s & p off 12 and a half points on the day. a family that has run a local farm for generations is calling it quits. conte's farm in south jersey has been a destination for decades especially in the fall but in just a few weeks the entire property goes up for auction. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic tells us why. >> we're sad. very sad. we can't imagine them not farming. >> reporter: that's the reaction to news that the 220-acre conte farm in tabernacle is up for sale after almost a century of farming the family is calling it quits saying it's an economic decision. >> it's getting tougher and tougher for us. we enjoyed it over the years. we enjoyed serving the public. i read an article one time and it stands true that no one does so much for so little. >> reporter: conte's stand and bakery has been a popular destination for anyone who wanted to buy farm fresh fruits and vegetables pick your own or venture through the annual corn maze. >> all the people there that

classic movie and fans could compete in trivia contests. the stage adaptation of the smash hit opens on march 24th. >> are you a big fan of that movie. >> yes, of course. >> my sister owned it and i feel like i watched it every night. >> and so you were a big fan too. >> i was, absolutely. >> okay. >> time for the accuweather forecast. >> let's go to meteorologist adam joseph. >> no one puts adam in the corner. >> i was going to say no one puts shirleen in a corner. back it up. as we take a look outside double scan live radar showing that we have rain approaching from the south and west. all is dry and not too scary on this friday the 13th. as we take a look at the numbers to the north and west we're in the mid and uner 40's a little cool for this time of year but with that sun today, it didn't feel that bad outside, 45 in pottstown saint davids 45 degrees, center city coming in at 48. levittown southern bucks county at 47. we have a 50 in bridgeton right now. 44 in hammonton. ewing at 48 degrees and in the

state of delaware right around 44 to 45 degrees. the numbers will stay fairly steady during the overnight hours. in fact, we'll start to warm by tomorrow morning as southerly winds take over as low pressure which is pulling between dallas and new orleans right now will pivot its way through the tennessee, the ohio valley. we also have energy north of chicago right about here. the two of them will merge and this will become a super so, for us after about the midnight hour. in fact, future tracker at 11:30 tonight still generally cloudy and dry across the region with some showers beginning near lancaster and chester county. it overtakes the region as it pours here after midnight and throughout saturday morning. 10:30 in the morning you could see some pockets of heavy rain around. so, a complete washout here for the first part of saturday. now, in the afternoon yes the steady rain is gone but even through 5:30 we're going to have pockets where it will rain and then you'll just see it kind of dry up and then it rains again, so it's on and off and scattered in the

afternoon and then by sunday morning the system departs. we'll see some sunshine on sunday morning but that energy to the north will rap in around the low and give us another shot of a shower or two sunday afternoon. but the main bulk of the rain is tonight throughout saturday into the early afternoon. we're forecasting a half inch to an inch and you can see the rpm model the most coming in with 1 inch or just a little bit better than that in philadelphia while all the others are around three-quarters of an inch. forecast lows for tonight we'll drop back into the 30's early and then they'll start to rise overnight as the rain arrives and areas of fog will also begin to develop as we're still trying to melt that ground with the warm rain. and your four day at 4:00 morning steady rain, mild with afternoon showers at times at 58. it's a little better here on sunday. some sun and very breezy at '52 52 degrees with another shower possible at times. sunday afternoon. a mild monday, partly sunny at 58 and then for saint patrick's day a lot of clouds,

maybe a few peeks of sun the breeze will kick up as another front drops through with a temperature of 52. >> all right. adam thanks very much. we've got some breaking news with some traffic implications. chopper 6 live over had yourly and ontario streets in the kensington section of philadelphia and what you see there is a philadelphia school bus stuck in a sinkhole. now, apparently no students were injured. we don't have confirmation as to whether kids were even on board the bus when it hit that sizable hole but we can tell you no kids were injured. going to take a little while to get that bus out of there. going to take a rather sizable tow truck to lift it out but again, a pretty big sinkhole at hurley and ontario and that philadelphia school bus stuck in it this afternoon. >> and coming up at 4:30 a local woman makes an appearance on jeopardy. but it's not what she did it's other contestants who had the internet buzz dag. >> but up next he's bringing a superhero to life in a real

whoever did it is still on the loose. last night was supposed to be a routine walk for james stroll man a walk he typically took with his 13-year-old daughter and his dog mol around 8:30 at night. >> unknown individual came up to him, shot him one time and we believe fled on foot from that location. >> reporter: police say so far they have no description of who digit today detectives were out canvassing the neighborhood looking for clues and surveillance video as neighbors learned the stunning news. >> nobody's going to feel safe after this. everybody will be on their guard. >> i think it's horrible because this is such a great neighborhood and nothing really happens like that around here. >> reporter: police say he was a landscaper. at first the crime was thought to be a robbery but he was found with his wallet and cash on him. >> my understanding is that his daughter goes for a walk with him almost every night. for whatever reason he said to her it's a little late tonight, i don't want you walking with me, so in effect he possibly saved his daughter's life as well. >> reporter: police say he was shot once in the chest.

video from last night shows his dog refusing to leave his owner's side. >> i hope whoever is responsible, i hope gets caught soon because i'm worried. i live here. now the search has begun for the gunman. this clot close knit community is mourning the loss of a father and a husband. >> i think it just was random. the guy was in the wrong place at the wrong time. somebody just walking around looking for prey and he just happened to find him. >> it's very tragic, very sad and we will get to the bottom of it hopefully very quickly. >> reporter: police say that they don't know if he interrupted a crime that was in progress. they have been out here searching for surveillance video. they are hoping that that will lead them to a suspect tonight and if you have any information, you're asked to call police. live in overbrook i'm wendy saltzman, channel6 "action news." >> all right, wendy, thank you. police are also looking for a man who has robbed at least eight businesses throughout northeast philadelphia. officers say between

february 23rd and march tenth the suspect held up several restaurants, several pharmacies and one liquor store. in each instance the man handed the clerk a demand note but no one was hurt. police say if you spot the suspect don't approach him just call 911. >> it didn't take too long for officials in two different states to find a young woman missing from manayunk. the new york police department says 22-year-old megan thompson was found in staten island less than 24 hours after she was reported missing. philadelphia police say thompson had been drinking on main street in manayunk on thursday when the night was over she got into a cab with a friend. well, that friend left the cab after partying but told police she wasn't sure if thompson got out as well. turns out thompson actually took that cab all the way to new york. >> a little white dog is out of the mud and back on dry land after spending an afternoon stuck on a local waterway. chopper 6 hd was over the 1000 block of south forklanding

road in burlington county. that is where the wayward pup was spotted around 9:30 this morning. the dog was darting around on the bed of the creek seemingly trapped. so cinnaminson police grabbed a raft and came to help. it took about an hour but the dog was eventually rescued. police still are trying to find -- figure out who he belongs to and how he got there. >> hm. >> all right, meteorologist adam joseph joining us now. some rain in the forecast but saul not lost this weekend. >> no, we're going to salvage the second half of the weekend. big improvement to come on sunday. even though it's not the most perfect date will be much better than tomorrow. >> okay. >> as we take a look right now we're dealing with clouds that are building in from there south and west over center city. 47 degrees. that dewpoint is really low so the atmosphere is super dry at this present time with those west-southwesterly winds. wind chill right now at 42. and in atlantic city you can see a little color in the sky there, 43 degrees, the dewpoint 19. we've got a wind off the water

badly mangled car. she was trapped in there. and again, you see her being taken away with a stretcher being sent to the hospital. no word yet on the extent of her injuries. but again this accident happened right here on baynton and high street. two cars colliding. you can see that vehicle right in the center of your screen. pretty badly damaged. of course we're going to keep you updated on this breaking story in germantown section. >> in the meantime the fraternity kicked out of the university of oklahoma has now hired a high profile attorney. steven jones represents alumni from the local sigma alpha epsilon chapter. he says those former members are not ruling out a lawsuit. and they are angry their entire chapter has been evicted after some current members were caught leading racist chant. meanwhile sa chapters at other schools are also being investigated for allegations of racism including the one at the university of washington. fraternity members there are accused of yelling slurs during a black lives matter

protest. >> an iowa woman is thanking the first responders who saved her life when a metal pipe went through her stomach. we first brought you kelsey cummings' story last week. she was impaled by a fence during a car crash. she sat there for an hour before she was able to call 911 because her cell phone went flying from the impact. she finally used a floor mat to pull it within reach. once firefighter arrived they spent 90 minutes cutting her from the wreckage. >> the thirst officer he -- first officer he was there in three minutes. he covered me up with a blanket can. he stayed by my side all the way to iowa city. >> incredible. the first responders say they were happy to find out kelsey is on the mend and many of the people who saved her hadn't heard from her since that accident. >> of course that's physically excruciating. this one is emotionally so. lottery officials in california had been trying to track down the winner of a

>> ♪♪ >> all right meteorologist adam joseph joining us now. we're tracking some rain but as we said earlier it will move out. >> it's o kind of a 50-50 weekend here. at least we get the worst part of the weekend over in the beginning and you have something to look forward to on sunday. as we take a look right now at the action cam which was down the shore earlier today when the sun was shining a beautiful shot there in vendor nor, new jersey, at pier. you can see that sun glistening off of the atlantic and that sky with the cirrus clouds. when you see those wispy clouds high above that usually means some kind of inclement weather is pushing in. double scan live radar right now not showing a whole lot going on. really nothing at this point. it will be some time before the rain pulls in from the south and west at the shore right now only in the lower and mid 40's so that view from the action cam a lot better than standing out there on a chilly day.

43 in wilmington, 44 in allentown and dover right now at 43 degrees. satellite and radar, there's that ribbon of clouds that continues to thicken and increase from the west and in fact you can see how bright these clouds are bright white to the south and west and the grayer nature to the north and east. that's the cirrus clouds and those are those thickening lower clouds and eventually they have enough moisture to rain themselves out so that's happening right now in the ohio and the tennessee valley. the center of the low is still way to the south and west between dallas and memphis and this will slowly progress to the north and east overnight tonight and throughout the day on saturday. so, even at 11 o'clock tonight if you're out on the town its dry across much of the area through that 11 o'clock hour and then the rain turns steady after midnight and continues at 8:30 tomorrow morning with pockets of heavy rainfall, even in the afternoon it starts to break up a little bit at 4 o'clock but still some heavy rain to the south and a little more scattered as you get deeper into the afternoon tomorrow. and even some scattered

showers right through 11 o'clock saturday night before the system completely pulls away on sunday. in fact, future tracker showing we could see a healthy inch of rain for many of us throughout tonight and saturday and one thing to note as you're traveling around late tonight and throughout the day on saturday, there's a lot of potholes on the road and the puddles could cover those potholes and you don't know they're underneath so just drive slowly with that much rain falling over a short relatively short amount of time. then some improvement here on sunday. the low winds up over new england, high comes in from the west. between the two we have that wind tunnel effect so it's breezy, some sun with a spotty shower sunday afternoon with a high temperature of 52. tonight 33 to 40, mostly cloudy that is a rain develops very late tonight. and the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, again sunday's better than saturday. however, there still could be a spotty shower with a lot of clouds in the afternoon with a healthy breeze and then on monday, pretty nierks upper 50's near 60, still breezy but a decent amount of sun and
