aken to einstein hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. students who witnessed what happened told us the victim was able to walk on his own to an ambulance. >> when it first happened the philly police were definitely pretty hairy when it first happened driving fast. appeared to be something pretty bad. >> reporter: you saw the guy, he seemed to be okay. >> he seemed to be okay. they took him into the ambulance. >> reporter: tech safety alert went out toot campus community informing them of what happened. that alert described the suspect as a white male in his 20's wearing a blue lasalle sweatshirt and a red hat. a second alert went out asking the campus community to shelter-in-place. that was lifted after about 45 minutes when the area was deemed to be safe. still sorting out the details for you here. we'll bring them to you as soon as we know anything more. live in olney i'm sarah bloomquist, channel6 "action news." >> all right, sarah thank you

for. we are also following a close call for philadelphia firefighters today. two of them went to the hospital after a ladder made contact with power lines. >> now, this afternoon we know more about both men and the extent of their injuries. david henry live at temple hospital where one of those firefighters is still being treated right now david. >> reporter: yeah, brian one of the firefighters has checked out okay. the other firefighter will have to spend the night here at the hospital for treatment of third degree burns to his foot. two lucky men who survived a very close call today. >> this could have been a much worse minute when you -- incident when you think about the. it happened on the 2400 block of west norris street around 10 o'clock this morning. the firefighter helped extinguish a small bedroom fire in minutes but disaster struck as they were breaking down their gear. the department says two firefighters were taking down this ladder when it hit a 7600-volt power line. a witness saw one of them go down.

>> the firemen was getting ready to pull the ladder away from the house and the ladder hit the very first hot wire above and the firemen and one fireman that was still holding onto the ladder he went from a holding the ladder position to his body straightened up and stiffened up and he fell right back onto the ground. >> reporter: other firefighters rushed to pull the men away from the ladder. they were alert and talking by the time they got to the hospital. one is a nine year veteran of the department and the other has been on the job for 14 years. he's the one who suffered the burns to his foot. his parents and his fiancé have been at his side at the hospital. the department says the two men were following proper procedure when the ladder apparently got weigh from them. >> when it came in contact fortunately the ladder bounced back to the building so just imagine if the ladder stayed in contact with the wires we could have had a much graver situation. >> reporter: now the commissioner says this is a clear example of the dangers

firefighters face every day even on routine calls but as it is these guys are very lucky and they'll be going home to their families live in north philadelphia, david henry, channel6 "action news." >> david thank you. a high school teach intergloucester county accused of taking indecent videos of female students right in the classroom. adam mayer is a teacher at gloucester county institute of technology. police say he secretly took videos up the skirts of students who stayed after class. they say there are at least nine victims right now. he's in jail on $300,000 bail right now. john rawlins has been following this story. he'll have more details including how police say mayer was caught. that's coming up in a live report tonight at 5:00. three people are in the hospital after a shooting this afternoon in brewerytown. it happened on the 2600 block of ingersoll street. police say all three men are in their 20's. they're all expected to survive. police say they found a gun near stillman and master

afternoon. we had brush fire on 95. this is right at street road. you can see here this big black patch, that's where the firefighters put out the fire. we have police and firefighters on the scene. these are northbound lanes still taking out the left lane. our southbound lane had a fire truck in it but that is clear now. you can see our commute right now northbound from vine to woodhaven is taking you about 30 minutes not having to do with this fire but just a lot of volume for a monday afternoon. taking a look at the big picture speeds on the schuylkill expressway very slow going from the turnpike to the blue route in eastbound lanes. talking you about 30 minutes to do that commute right now when it should only take six to eight minutes. we had a construction crew taking out right lane. three lanes mergeing into one lane which has caused that big line of traffic. the construction crew is gone now so we're hoping that delay will start to diminish and we have a water main break in doylestown at swamp road between maple avenue and creek road. your alternate is going to be east street to get around that. taking a look at the area bridges everything is looks

and the s & p rose 27 and some change. investors are keeping an eye on the federal reserve this week as the central bank mohammed its two day meeting. the fed has been patient so far when it comes to interest rates but a stronger economy and a surging stock market have led to speculation that the fed could raise rates. if it does, that will be the first time since 2006. the fed wraps up its meeting wednesday and it will issue a statement that could pave the way for a rate hike in june or september. >> the spirit of saint joseph university is living in frozen form on campus today. this is the school's mascot, chiseled from 1 ton of ice. the hawk is a symbol of saint joe's dynamic community. it was carved this afternoon in honor of the first annual mission week, a celebration of the university's new mission statement. award winning sculptor don lowing left-handed his talent to get that job done.

dispute between neighbors in upper darby that ended with one man shot and the other in jail. "action news" annie mccormick has more on the shooting the standoff and the incident that sparked it. >> james park is resting comfortably at his mom's home. he lives right down within the same block. last night he says he went to check on his next door neighbor who had been burglarized earlier that day. his next door neighbor accused him of the burglary and then opened fire. >> so he pulled a gun out shot four times and i just stood still. >> reporter: james park was in shock watching what he thought was a .22 caliber gun firing away at him. >> i was like put the gun away. you know, like don't even have to be like that and he shot one more time and just as he pulled the gun up i turned to the left and he shot me in the arm so if i didn't turn he would have shot me in the chest. >> reporter: the man he says before him, the alleged shooter spark's next door neighbor william defect it was around 11:00 p.m. sunday when upper darby police called in

swat helicopters and dogs one they realized dean barricaded himself inside. neighbors were evacuated speak company shut off power since police believe dean had surveillance cameras around his home. >> helicopters and it was guns and all kinds of stuff. it was kind of scary. >> swat team then was able to access the -- make a forced entry, use some flash banks and in the second floor bedroom they found the shooter. he's in custody. >> reporter: by early morning the neighborhood was safe. dean in custody and two pellet guns, one resembling a .22 caliber found inside. spark was treated at penn presbyterian hospital and released. >> glad i turned, you know. god was definitely there certain it was and just happy to be alive. >> reporter: and upper darby police tell that you say william dean faces a slew of charges including aggravated assault and this isn't his first run in with the law.

in upper darby annie mccormick channel6 "action news." >> the mother of a south jersey murder suspect has been charged with helping her son conceal his wife's body. 67-year-old joe crosby was arrested at her sicklerville home this morning. she has been charged with hindering apprehension and tampering with physical evidence by destroying records. crosby's 28-year-old son kyle remains in jail on charges he murdered his wife erica crippen though burlington county prosecutors wouldn't elaborate, they maintain crosby helped her son hide his wife's remains. crippen's body has never been found. philadelphia police are thanking both the media and the public for helping them arrest a serial robbery suspect. officers captured rule iguera on saturday one day after he we aired this surveillance video. a tip led them to the resident and they say he's responsible for robbing at least eight businesses and restaurants throughout northeast philadelphia from

february 23rd to march 10. >> for more than 30 years now, law enforcement officials in three states have been trying to pin three murders on real estate heir robert durst. yesterday they got a break in one and the world got a possible couldn't fabc's marci gonzalez live in new york with more on the arrest of this eccentric multi-million fair. marcy. >> reporter: brian investigators aren't saying exactly what evidence led to this arrest but durst 's attorney is questioning the timing as he now faces a capitol murder charge: robert durst in a new orleans courtroom today, his attorney insisting the real estate hear heir is not guilty in the shooting death of his friends susan berman in 2000. >> rob durst didn't kill susan berman. >> reporter: a contrast to durst's chilling apparent confession. >> reporter: which aired for the first time just last night on the finale of hbo's documentary series of jinx.

the six part series profiles berman's death as well as the unsolved disappearance of durst's first wife kathy in 1982 and the murder of durst's neighbor in 2001. in that case durst was acquitted after claiming self-defense. in interviews for the documentary he repeatedly insisted he was not a killer. off camera, though, while in a bathroom apparently unaware his microphone was still on the bombshell audio was recorded. it wasn't until two laters that an editor discovered it and handed it over togolese it was so chilling to hear it. >> reporter: the 71-year-old was taken into custody saturday at this new orleans hotel where he was registered under a fake name and according to the police report he had a gun. the lapd which issued the warrant says the hbo series had nothing to do with it will arrest. but the fbi believes when he was arrested he may have been trying flee to cuba. his attorney denies that and durst is expected to be brought back to los angeles to stand trial.

reporting live, marci gonzalez channel6 "action news". >> thank you very much. if you did not watch the documentary you might not know that durst has ties to our region. he graduated from lehigh university in 1965. in one of his previous arrests happened in pennsylvania. back in 2001, durst fled texas after being charged with murdering his neighbor, a nationwide manhunt end whether he was caught shoplift tag grocery store outside allentown. he spent time in the northampton county prison in easton before being extra dieter back to texas where he was ultimately acquitted of murder. >> three delaware teenagers were sentenced today for beating a mentally challenged man. two 14-year-olds an 15-year-old were among the attackers in this infamous video from september. a judge ordered them under house arrest until the end of the school year. they will spend their summer in a facility for treatment and evaluation. and they will be released returned could school in the fall and remain on probation
