>> here are the beautiful clear skies as sun sets open the last night of winter. but the season is not going down without a fight. the calendar says spring starts tomorrow. but wow not know it from the storm approaching on stormtracker 6. it is thursday night. and the big story on "action news" tonight is snow to start our spring. let's get right to meteorologist cecily tynan with the latest track on live double scan radar. cecily. >> jim we had about 23" of snow so far this winter and we'll likely add to that a little bit for final hours of wint were this. stormtracker 6 double scan showing a storm system that really is getting its act together there's one low

pressure over western kentucky and what this is doing is transferring energy to coastal low that will form and move up northeast. it will be intensifying as it does. it's not one of the storms that rapidly intensifies or bombs out but will likely bring accumulating snow on non-paved surfaces. that's key. this is march this is not january. a lot of this will melt on the roads. but the national weather service posted winter weather advisory for tomorrow for most of viewing area except for southern delaware and extreme southern new jersey. these areas not in purple will mainly see a rain event. areas in purple where we will get wet slushy snow. future tracker showing timing of the system if you can get to work early tomorrow before the snow starts the snow should move in between 7 and 9:00 and for most of our viewing area it will be snow and then we'll begin to watch that snow/rain line work up north as we head through the afternoon hours near philadelphia. so the storm timeline.

plan according to the calendar. it's cold out there. philadelphia 36. allentown and reading 31. trenton 30 millville 37. see ail city 37 and wilmington 35. the cold air is in place we need moisture and that's getting closer. you can see now it's all rain from the ohio valley into i have virginia but as this encounters cold air it will changeover to snow. it will be a heavy wet snow that belts on most of the main roads and it will be moving in during the tail end of morning commute. if you can get up early 6:00, cloudy chilly, by 8:00, 32 with some of the snow beginning to move in from the south and west. future tracker showing 8:30 getting close to philadelphia. you can see already starting at rains along the shore. this will be a rain event. as we head through the day we'll see some bands of some heavier snow around lunchtime and then it continues into the evening beaut and you can see around

philadelphia areas north it's all snow. i think the rain line will get closer to philadelphia and then it moves out friday evening. as far as accumulation this is the storm why your location and elevation is key. further north the more snow you see is 3 to 6" and south of philadelphia to south jersey, northern delaware we're looking at 1 to 2"ch that 3" line close to philadelphia. and again these accumulations are on the non-paved surfaces. mainly on the grass a lot of this will be melting on the roads. and this march it is falling during the day and i would not be surprised if north of philadelphia we do get some slushy accumulation on roads. these really are the key points. it's not that light, fluffy snow. it's heavy snow. tem tears above freezing, again the roads will not be huge mess. main roads wet. side roads a little bit of slush and good news is on saturday, anything that is there will be
