>> a community stunned before a successful businessman shoots his wife and turns the gun on himself. the struggle to understand why is just beginning. walter is off and brian taff joins us this evening. the big story on "action news" is rare murder-suicide in quiet northampton township community. >> a long time philadelphia businessman shot and killed his wife ape then himself. "action news" reporter sken live at the scene. kenneth, you have the details tonight. >> brian and sarah investigators are still working to figure out the circumstances surrounding this apparent murder sued side. residents and friends say these are the neighbors that wanted a wife grandmother a long time philadelphia jeweler. it was a son-in-law that made the horrible discovery inside the holland northampton township home. an apparent murder-suicide on quiet limpa road in suburban bucks county. >> it's unbelievable we're trying to deal with it. >> investigators searched this

split level home for clues but appears the 65-year-old husband shot and killed his 61-year-old wife around 4 p.m. before turning the gun on himself. stunned neighbors officer them at enaa and boris serena. >> he was battling cancer for a few years and i heard he took a turn for the worst recently. maybe he was depressed, we're not sure. >> they were nice. we didn't get a chance to talk to them much. they would always wave us to as i said and seemed really friendly. >> "action news" learned the husband was a long-time owner of sereda enterprise as i fine jewelry maker south 7th september are city. he was in business on jeweler's road more than three decades. >> years years, family business, good guy, no complaints, no issues. never a problem. >> neighbors say they would see his wife walking with the grandchildren on this street. as county detectives and police brought out boxes of evidence

sunday night a man who spoke with sereda sunday is trying to wrap his head around the tragic incident. >> how was that conversation. >> normal conversation, normal day, that caught everyone on this block off guard. just shock. and we know the couple's daughter september her husband here to check on parents. she had not heard from them. police say bodies were discovered on the second floor and a handgun was recovered. sarah. reporting live in hol happened, bucks county, kenneth moton "channel 6 action news." >> kenneth, thank you. philadelphia recorded its 6th fire fatality of the year tonightch the deadly blaze spread through this apartment building 4600 block of polaski avenue germantown 7:15. smoke alarms alerted the mother and child to get out on time. firefighters did not realize right away there was a victim still inside. >> and they did a primary search

which was negative meaning they did not find anybody on the primary search. they did a secondary search and didn't find anybody. we went in a third time to make sure and we found an old area adult female in third floor bathroom. >> authority have not yet identified the woman or determined the cause of the fire. >> a 1-year-old boy who tried to rescue his mother from a violence encounter with exboyfriend is recovering from a gun shot wound to the leg. tonight the man police say did it is in custody. it happened earlier this morning 3500 block of jamie street in city's port richd monday section. a 23-year-old jhamiel start carter showed up at ex's home and began beating her and the woman's 12-year-old son stepped in. investigators say carter fired a shot hitting the boy in the thigh. >> why shoot the kid. you could have easily over powered the child and just pushed him to the side and walk

away. once you see the kid come in the room leave. make the problem somewhere else. >> carter turned himself in tonight. we'll have more on the story coming up at 11:30. >> in west philadelphia a man was shot and killed inside a barber shop this afternoon it happened in the 600 block of north press ton street. police say a man inside the barbershop got into an argument and started shooting at the owner. i customer licensed to carry a gun shot the gunman. the suspect turned himself a short time later. investigators have got released names of victim or suspect. >> and philadelphia police are also investigating the shooting of man in the point breeze section today. it happened just before 6:30 this evening intersection of 20 and morris. officers responded to the scene to find a 26-year-old man with a gun shot wound to stomach. he was rushed to the hospital but we still don't know his condition or his name the gunman still on the loose. >> a woman's body has been found in east norriton township.

police believe it is that of missing montgomery county woman. she was last seen on february 26 walking out of einstein hospital. searchers found the body during search of wooded area near taft road today. investigators say the woman's clothing and other items ipd date could be tilette. an autopsy is being done to determine the cause of death. >> a catholic church that stood in fishtown since 1800s will have a date with wrecking ball. archdioceses announced st. archdioceses announced st. laurentius is too expensive to repair and will be torn down. nora muchanic has the full story from the church tonight. >> basically they keep lying to everybody. >> that's reaction from parishioners at st. laurentius in fishtown which was merged by holy name of jesus parish. they got news of demolish of the church built in the 1800s.
