we'll begin right now with breaking news out of yardley bucks county tonight. state police are investigating the discovery of a body at a rest stop along i-95 just south of scudder falls bridge right around 8:00 tonight an older man was found sitting inside a car door open, one leg happening out. police say a maintenance worker first spotted the van and thought he was sleeping inside that car. but, once he realized the man was unresponsive he called police. police are just beginning this investigation. we do not yet know how that man died tonight a 12-year-old boy is recovering after trying to save his mother from a violent confrontation. the khiltd was shot in the leg police say by his mother's abusive exboyfriend. "action news" reporter ken has the full story tonight. >> philadelphia police say it was a violent struggle inside this port richmond home. in the end a man opened fire on 12-year-old boy. >> i think he's a monster. i think he's a real monster.

>> east detectives say 2 a.m. 3500 block of jamie street 33 3500 block of jamie street 33-year-old woman who lives here heard the front door open. she went down to investigate and the woman so the spotted her exboyfriend, 23-year-old jamil carter standing in living room. there was argument. the woman tried to get him to leave. investigators say carter attacked his exhitting her in the face several times before her sleeping son woke up and stepped in. detengt activities say carter fired one shot striking the 12-year-old in the left thigh. >> why shoot the kid. you could have easily over powered a child and just pushed him to the side and walk away. once you see the kid come in the room, leave. make the problem somewhere else. >> carter took off. police say the man that freak wentz west philadelphia is known to themch the boy accused of shooting is back home sunday afternoon. his family would only say he's okay. >> he was trying to save his mom. that's a good son.
