just this past weekend. monday night the big story on "action news" tonight is the search for the the air bag bandits that are costing a lot of motorist a a lot of money. live from wind field heights in philadelphia, "action news" reporter sharrie williams sharrie? >> reporter: and, jim, repair shops tell us that these air bags in these hondas are inter changeable. thinks an honda sur but once inside they say it only takes a matter of seconds to re move a set of screws and get to the air bag. air bags, they are the latest hot item being sought after by thieves. >> the part that they are targeting is a relatively high ticket item that can be access varied quickly. >> reporter: so quickly a professional crook can lift the air bag in less than a minute. >> would i imagine just like anything supply and demand you know for every legitimate business there is somebody out there taking advantage of things. >> reporter: michael gibbons

with gibbons automotive showed me how it works. >> that is that. that quickly disconnecting one wire and you are off. >> reporter: just this weekend, 20 vehicles were broken into in south philadelphia and five were hit in rhawn hearst. all targeted for their air bags. jean keyhoe heard a commotion outside and woke her husband. >> she said somebody is trying to steel our car. i ran down the steps. got the key and hit the panic button. >> reporter: once in hand thieves sell the air bags to the black market to shady repair shops for 50 to $200. the shops collect more than a you this dollars from insurance companies for installing them as replacements. all of the vehicles targeted this weekend were either honda or acuras and that has car owners like harry keeping a watchful eye. >> it is a concern. you pull in the parking garage. you leave it there you don't think twice. you think everything is under camera surveillance in the

city. >> reporter: a massive recall is underway right now for a number of car makers for air bags. honda is included, as one of those car makers investigators have not said if this recall could be driving the up tic, jim, in the stolen air bags. we are live from wynfield heights, carry williams channel six "action news". >> thanks, sharrie. it is finally free tonight, the frontier airlines plane that was literally stuck in the mud since last night, it is now back on solid ground in new castle county airport. here's how it looked this afternoon from chopper 6hd. the jet rolled off the the taxiway into the the. its nose gear and right main wheel sank in under all that weight. none of the 105 passengers on board were hurt but their flight was delayed, they were finally able to get out today. the airport did remain opened. word has come that one of the two victims in the collision between suv and dirt bike has died.

"action news" reporter kenneth moton is live from the 7200 block of hawthorn street in the the mayfair section of philadelphia kenneth, what have you learned from police and the driver of the suv. >> reporter: that it was a tragic preventable set of circumstances, jim. that 19 year-old male dirt bike driver died after the the collision in this intersection. the 19 year-old woman riding on the back of the bike suffered bad injuries but tonight she's still alive. it was left in pieces the remnants of the mini dirt bike after the male driver and woman riding on the back, slammed head on into kevin keithing's chevy tahoe. >> difficult not the see them until the last minute. i don't know if i closed my eyes when the impact happened and slammed my brakes. i just know he was not looking at me. it looked like he was looking back toward cottman avenue. >> reporter: he says he was on the 2700 block of hawthorn street a block from cottman avenue around 1:30 in mayfair. the the dirt bike was speeding down the roadway and even on

justice had has reviewed almost 400 police involve shootings in philadelphia since 2007. the review was ordered by commissioner charles ramsey after four straight day of of police involved shooting in may of 2013. three of the shooting where is fatal. at a news conference today a justice department official says that poor training has left philadelphia's police with a mistaken belief that fearing for their lives alone justified the use of deadly force. the report also says that police officers mistakenly per received blacks at a threat as more than twice the rate of whites. the report makes 91 recommendations. >> it is a good report with a lot of ol i had recommendations that as the man mayor mentioned that we're already in the process of implementing some of them but we certainly are looking at each and everyone iron i'm coming up with a strategy for implementation. >> the the norristown police department held a public
