suspect. both the suspect and the original shooting victim are now at the hospital. it is tuesday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is a police-involved shooting in the tioga-nicetown section of philadelphia. and, of course these days whenever an officer fires a gun, it will be sure to get maximum scrutiny. live at 17th and cayuga street is kenneth moton. >> it started next to u.s. 1. the police say this minivan took at least 16 shots. it appears the vehicle slammed into the pole. during the gunfire the police believe the gunman got away as they were responding. the police say they were forced to open fire on a passenger from the van after he pointed his weapon at them. there was alarming scene, a city block with shell casings all over it. the philadelphia police got a call of shots fired in tioga-nicetown. they discovered a minivan

riddled with bullets. as officers approached the van they witnessed another man jump out of the back. >> after exiting the minivan he stepped over the initial shooting victim and began to walk quickly north on 17th street. >> the police chased after the man. they say he had a gun with an extended magazine clip. >> that's when the officer ordered the male to stop drop the weapon show his hands. stop running. the male refused. he turned pointed the weapon in the direction of both officers. that's when one officer discharged his weapon. >> the suspect had at least three gunshot wounds but they were unsure if he was hit by the police since etches also in the minivan. they know when the 24 fell at 17th street he dropped that weapon and a second a semiautomatic hand gun. he and the initial shooting victim were transported to

temple in stable condition. >> internal affairs is it on the investigation because they investigate, and the crime scene unit and northwest detectives. >> this is the first police-involved shooting since the report. it gave 91 recommendations including intensive retraining in the use of deadly force and community policing. as for this incident still a number of questions as police continue their investigation. those two men who are in stable condition we understand they are undergoing surgery. again the man who shot up this minivan right behind me here kenneth moton for channel 6 "action news." thank you. video from blue bell montgomery county getting national attention on the air and online. a school bus carrying nine students slammed into a home this morning, and jill lafferty and her daughter had just left

the room that the bus plowed into. one of the students on the bus was an 11-year-old girl who showed remarkable poise and maturity. >> ok i was like help us, please. and i saw the latch on the door and i knew the up emergency exit and i opened it and got out. and i was encouraging the kids come on you have got to get out. let's go. >> the 58-year-old driver may have blacked out before the bus hit the house. he's value waited at the hospital. the students were not hurt and this photograph shows them joining their classmates at the st. helena school later today. the plane went down without warning taking the souls with it into a mountainside. this is it what is left of the wreckage in the french alps. and it went into a rapid decent and crashed in southern france.

investigators recovered one every time black boxes. they same the airbus lost contact with the control center but the pilot sent out no distress call. the european and american officials say there is no indication of terrorism, but at this point nobody knows what brought the plane down. the plane was operated by germanwing. a budget carrier. seven of the flights were cancelled tonight because the crews felt unfit to fly following the crash today. philadelphia police investigating the un-earthing of a woman anticipates body in frankford today. and dann cuellar is live with that story. >> jim, there was screaming coming from the couple's apartment, but nobody called police. then neighbors say that the suspect was going around asking if he could borrow a shovel but nobody had an idea what he was up to. and then he would later be arrested in connection with a women's body in a shallow grave.

the grisly scene this evening as police carried the women's body from a from a shallow grave. and the man the woman lived with fought with the police as they tried to take him into custody. he tried to run when they questioned him about the grave and the woman's whereabouts and they used a taser to subdue him. >> and he started fighting with the cops and the cops took him down. and, you know, tazed him. and he tried to wrestle the gun off the female police officer. >> neighbors stay the couple as yet unidentified by police argued constantly. >> they are always fighting always fighting. >> police say stunned the neighbors heard a woman screaming but nobody called the police. >> did you hear the screaming, too? >> yeah. >> but nobody called the cops? >> no. >> because it is -- >> because it is a normal thing. >> for them to be screaming? >> yeah. and fighting. >> the neighbors say the next

couple of days got extremely quiet and the suspect was going around asking to borrow a shovel. >> and he was going around asking people to borrow shovels and stuff like that. i was like why, it is not snowing out here anymore. >> after no arguments for two days the building superintendent was suspicious and sum -- stumbled on the grave and called the police. and they found women's bloody clothing in the nearby dumpster. >> what do you think of it? >> it is crazy. if you don't like someone and can't get along with them just leave. >> the medical examiner is working to may a positive i.d. on the victim a woman in her late 30's. the suspect questioned by the homicide investigators, so far no charges filed. live at police headquarters for channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. a bucks county teacher out on bond tonight after charged with an inappropriate relationship with a student.

33 year old michael switter is on leave from the high school and the police say that the social studies teacher kissed a 17-year-old female student and made plans to meet her at a hotel for sex. a 23-year-old man caught with his hands in a donation jarrishjar ish -- jar issued an apology. and showing up to apply for a job when the cashier went in to get the boss he looked around and grabbed $10 from the jar. the owner saw the ins ins -- incident on his computerment >> i got upset, it is for the kids. >> and they put him in a headlock and held him until the police arrived. and he had a statement he was driveninging and regrets what he did. and a pedestrian struck and killed by a car about an hour

ago in gloucester country. they closed the road near route 322 while they investigate the situation. the driver remained at the scene of the accident. and more trouble for the casino industry. the plan to turn it into a college campus close do going bust. buying the building for $18 million now they say contractual terms have come back to haunt it. trump taj mahal has the right to have it operate as a first-class casino hotel. school administrators say despite the support from city official, stockton university may be forced to sell the building or just leave it empty. here we go again, a judge today said she will consider the attempt by the openers of the former revel casino to sell the property.

the judge ruled earlier this month she didn't have the jurisdiction to approve the sale of revel to the florida developer strauss. and because the terms of the sale changed from an earlier deal she had approved. now both parties are asking the judge to treat the proposal as a new sale request. ♪♪ philadelphia school system the topic of debate tonight among the mayoral candidates. all except one attended at the school in south philadelphia. they fielded questions submitted by community members about their plans to improve education. republican martina white has beaten the democratic rival tonight to win the special election for pennsylvania's 170th house district. the seat was left vacant in november when democrat boyle was arrested to congress. so republicans pick up a seat. movie star angelina jolie,

revealed she chose to have more preventive surgery to reduce her risk of cancer. and obviously when jolie makes a decision like this it will get enormous amounts ever attention. >> absolutely. jolie is a huge world figure. now she is battling is it that many women can relate to. at the age of 39 her body has been forced into menopause and a stunning health regulation that jolie says she is at peace with. one of hollywood's most public faces tonight staring a very private decision. in a "new york times" op-ed piece angelina jolie shares her decision to undergo surgery to remove ovaries and fallopian tubes. saying a recent test showed what could be signs of early ovarian cancer, the disease that took the life of her mother. about 20,000 american women get ovarian cancer each year, most

will die from it. writing in "the new york times," jolie said i told myself to stay calm to be strong and that i had no reason to think i wouldn't live to see my children grow up and to meet my grandchildren. jolie carries the braca i, and increased risk for cancer. >> i didn't expect there to be so much support and i was very moved by it. >> and now the choice to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes. the doctor says she had limited prevention options. >> if you are someone with ovarian cancer and even if you have had the testing and you are negative, you still have a higher risk much higher than when compared to the again population of developing ovarian cancer. >> jolie said carrying the gene

starting the day with fog and then our afternoon high 69 degrees. so far the warmest day of the year with st. patrick's day 68. if we hit 69 it is the warmest day officially so far this year. but it doesn't last long. the cold front sweeps in thursday night. behind the system the wind shifts out of the northwest. that will bring us cooler weather. and thursday night could see gusty thunderstorms. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast morning sun, afternoon clouds with a few showers. 49 degrees on thursday. it's warm 69 degrees but wet with occasional showers. and futuretracker showing ahead of the cold front can get a line of gusty thunderstorms moving through around 9:00. and behind the system temperatures step down. friday drying out, 54 degrees. saturday feeling like winter. 39 degrees and could be looking a little bit like winter with a few flurries flying. still chilly sunday but not as harsh. mostly sunny, 48 degrees.
