one of at one time pilots left the cockpit and couldn't get back in as he was pounding on the door. but the other pilot couldn't or wouldn't open it. what all this means is only a matter of conjecture at this hour. it is wednesday night and the big story on "action news" is the mystery of why one of the pie plots of the ill-fated germanwing's airbus was locked out of the cockpit. investigators revealed the voice recorder has the sound of the pilot first gently knocking on the door but there's no answer. then he knocks louder. and finally you can hear him try to smash the door down. was the other pilot unconscious because of a catastrophic medical event? depressurization or a willful act? the plane descended 38,000 feet and crashed into the french alps killing all on board. one of the victims was a graduate of drexel university

and dann cuellar is on campus tonight. >> the campus is on spring break right now but the students would remain are saddened to hear that one of the victims was a recent drexel grad. and learning more about emily selke and her mother who died when the plane crashed. drexel university announced that 23-year-old emily selke graduated with honors and a music major. and on board the germanwing flight travelling with her mother, yvonne. >> and even though i didn't personally know her i feel sad. >> drexel is deeply saddened to hear about the loss of emily selke and her mother. >> it affected the drexel community and my thoughts and prayers to her family and friend. >> she was a member of a

sorority, and emily served as the membership v.p. and was an integral part of our growing chapter. and embodied our spirit. as a person and friend emily always put others before herself and cared deeply for those in her life. emily will be greatly missed by her fellow sisters. her mother yvonne worked in washington and did intelligence contract work for the pentagon. >> i am still kind of shocked. we're just a small little community. >> the selke family lives in this moment in virginia outside of washington where today the neighbor's learned that emily and yvonne were among the dead. >> live every moment you can much that's the only thing i can say. i am sure they had no idea something like this would happen. it is a real tragedy. >> in a statement the selke family says they are deeply saddened by the losses of yvonne and emily, two wonderful, caring and amazings people who meant so

it lets you know that the mayor, when he said we need to make sure there are jobs for our young people. >> and mayor michael nutter recently announced plans to expand the summer job program and supporters say it is important. >> this is an alternative to hanging out during the summer on the streets doing nothing. you don't have to get in trouble. >> there was such a huge response for the summer jobs that everyone couldn't fit into one room. in the first room they actually learned about what jobs are available and what age they need to be and what skill set they will learn over the summer. from there it's on to the next room where students are given instructional sheets on how to apply for the jobs they want. >> lifeguard is the hideghest paying job, that's what i am aiming for. >> he is 18 and a senior in high school. >> i need money for college. >> if hired it is his first job ever.

it is 43 in philadelphia right now. millville 45. allentown and trenton 40. wilmington 43 and wildwood 46 degrees. temperatures almost holding steady tonight. satellite 6 along with actions radar showing we had some showers earlier today. and earlier this evening. they moved offshore and lots of clouds are in place, and there are more showers building up in the south as we head through the day tomorrow. the focus though of the severe weather across the plains states, part of oklahoma and arkansas, as many as seven reported tornadoes. this associated with a cold front marching east as we head through the day tomorrow. this is heading through our region tomorrow night. ahead of it tomorrow a surge of warm air and moisture. and the morning rush hour there be foggy with some showers, drizzle. it won't be that cold. temperatures around in the 40s heading through the morning.
