point. >> it's horrible. it's just so scary. you walk around with a knot in your stomach. >> reporter: the victim had been working out at this gym about a mile from her home. as she walked home she was approached by two boys ages 14 and 16. she got nervous and called a friend. police say the suspects thought she was calling the police so they knocked the phone out of her hand. they then marched her at gun point to this remote area along the research tracks. >> where they robbed her of money, a cell phone and other items and then both of these males sexually assaulted her. >> reporter: the friend of the victim had been on the phone with heard the struggle and called the victim's family. they came looking for her and found her still in the hands of the suspects on the 3900 block of richmond street. the boys fled but relatives of the victim grabbed one of them two blocks away. the police picked up the other suspect about a half mile away. >> both of the perpetrators had items that were taken from

the female during the robbery. >> reporter: police didn't find the gun. detectives were back out in the neighborhood today looking for it. it's a neighborhood that's been left badly shake can ken. >> i'm nervous about it. i walk everywhere. i don't have a car. i drive i take buses. >> it's horrible and i hope she's doing better and i'm glad that they caught the two people that did that. >> reporter: now if convicted the two teenager will be well into adulthood before they see the outside of a jail cell again. especially the 16-year-old who may eventually be charged as an adult. live at special victims david henry, channel6 "action news." shirleen. >> all right, thank you, david. a teenager is under arrest right now after police say he murdered his mother and tried to kill his grandmother. it happened in the bridesburg section of philadelphia on the 2800 block of reynolds street. police say 19-year-old zachary while lee stabbed his mother

melissa to death and also attacked his grandmother joan. he told police there were attackers in the home but investigators say they don't buy it. neighbors say while lee led a troubled life. >> it was very concerning to all of us on the street that she never allowed him out of the house. screamed every night from the back room like he was -- he had a lot of issues. the mother was supposed to home school him. never did. >> police don't dispute that the home life was a troubled one as source tells "action news" the house had no running water and that there were piles of human feces all over the floor. chad pradelli will have more in a live report coming up at 5:00. the mysterious circumstances surrounding the deaths of the ceo of cooper hospital and his wife are mystery no more. today prosecutors issued their final report revealing the findings of their investigation. nora muchanic is live in our new jersey news room. nora the family is not happy with this outcome.

>> reporter: shirleen, this report will come as a shock not just to family but to people who knew john sheridan. the prosecutors say the evidence shows he killed his wife and then set fire to their home. john sheridan fatally stabbed joyce sheridan set the fire and committed suicide. that's the conclusion of the somerset county prosecutor into the deaths of the cooper health systems ceo and his wife a retired schoolteacher. the report says joyce sheridan suffered eight wounds to the head an fatal stab wound to the chest. she also had defensive wounds on her hands. police found her in an upstairs bedroom of the couple's skillman home where they were responding to reports of a fire on september 28 of last year. authorities say john sheridan's dna was found on a half empty gas can found inside the room and he was alive after the fire started. he was found with five broken ribs under a burning armoire. his autopsy shows he died smoke inhalation and mark

wounds. the two knives found at the scene did not cause the deaths. investigators say john sheridan was described by colleagues and friends as out of character upset and withdrawn. and that he was apparent that joyce sheridan was worried and upset because she too recognized john sheridan was exhibiting levels of apprehension atypical. in a statement release this afternoon they say we will not allow our father to be convicted based on the guess work resulting from an inadequate and incomplete investigation simply because he is not here to defend himself. now, the sheridan sons say they are filing a lawsuit challenging the prosecutor's conclusions. they brought in there own medical examiner and have raised several questions but the prosecutor says he stands by his investigation. live in our new jersey news room, i'm nora muchanic, channel6 "action news."

>> nora, thank you. we have some breaking news to pass along from the city's feltonville section at this hour. chopper 6 is over the scene of a shooting here that took place just minutes ago. this is the 700 block of herness industries. a 17-year-old girl had been rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. details are sketchy but we know she was a shooting victim at this location. police are looking for three male suspects in their 20's but again a 17-year-old girl was shot here in the feltonville section of philadelphia. you can see police cruisers at the scene. the investigation under way into exactly what happened. we'll continue to follow this story. explosion in new york. the seven alarm fire that caused three buildings to buckle and collapse. officials say two people are still unaccounted for and more than a full day later firefighters are still dousing the smoldering remains of several apartment buildings following that blaze. this exclusive surveillance video shows the explosion the moment it happened ripping off the facade of that initial building and then the aerial view today showing us just what remains, a pile of wood, brick and steel with personal belongings strewn everywhere. 25 people were injured, four critically including five uniformed personnel. crews are still searching for those two missing people. we have learned that one of them is a restaurant worker. the second a customer in that japanese restaurant where the fire started. nicholas figueroa was on a date at the sushi restaurant when it collapsed. the date made it to the hospital but there is no sign of nicholas and his family is distraught.

military continued its fierce fight to retake the city from isis. that offensive stalled so they asked the u.s. for air support. shiite militias backed by iran were helping on the ground. they say they left in protest of the u.s. involvement but the pentagon says it demanded those militias leave at the condition of helping the iraqis. >> harry reid the man who has led democrats in the senate for a decade announced he'll not seek reelection when his term is up. reed posted the announcement on list the nevada senator is in his fifth term. he led democrats when they were in the minority then the majority then back again over the past 10 years. the 75-year-old has been recovering from an eye injury he suffered while exercising at his home in january. he was a top target for republicans next year and it was considered widely considered vulnerable. he says even though he thinks he could win it's time to go. >> we have to make sure that the democrats take control of the senate again and i feel it is inappropriate for me to

afternoon when we were in the mid and upper 60's where today we are well below average only in the 40's. double scan live radar a wider look showing the showers continue from boston straight all the way down to raleigh north carolina. the cold front that was moving pretty quickly yesterday kind of slowed down across our area and it will take its time pushing off the coast and in fact, the clouds will hang tough throughout the overnight hours tonight but the rain will be gone so heading out for friday night it will be a dry night despite its chilly and cloudy. in fact, after midnight some energy may try to ripple through so we could see some late flurries flying after midnight with temperatures below freezing north and west, at freezing in wilmington and millville and just 36 degrees in cape may. wind chills by tomorrow morning, though, 23 allentown 21 in reading, 26 in philadelphia and look at saturday afternoon. still feeling below freezing at the peek of the day tomorrow north and west 37 millville and even at the shore between 34 and 39 degrees.

germanwings co-pilot hoping to get inside the mind of a killer. for more on the potential motive uncovered today we turn now to abc's marci gonzalez. she's live in new york. >> reporter: shirleen investigators say there was no suicide note but they have found other indicators they say could reveal he may have been keeping a secret. in his home in germany investigators uncovering evidence they say could help explain why co-pilot andreas lubitz intentionally crashed germanwings flight 9525. among the clues a doctor's note excusing the 27-year-old from work the day of the crash. his company never received it. instead, it was found torn up in a trash can. prosecutors explaining other documents and prescriptions indicate some kind of ongoing illness and treatment something they say he hid from his employer. >> he>> reporter: investigators are still piecing together what happened in the flight's

a you uh turn and came back to ram the camry head on. narrowly missing a bicyclist in the process. vigil was able to hit the sedan a few more times before police arrived. he's now facing a number of charges including assault and damage to property. >> a musical mystery has been solved in california. for the past couple of days the hills of santa monica were alive with the sounds of music. after a full size piano was discovered on a graffiti covered hill top and no one knew where it came from. right there. curious hikers stopped by to play the piano especially once word leaked out on social media. but apparently the piano was part of a soon to be shot music video. pictures showed up on instagram being pulled up a hiking trail and sat right there by a musical group out of seattle. >> in tennessee there's big controversy over a haircut. this is seven-year-old adam stinnet and his older brother

45 chilly degrees especially after yesterday's mid to upper 60's, we've lost a good 20 degrees across the area in 24 hours. and right at the shore with the showers it's only 40, 42 degrees. bridgeton right now coming in at 44. here you can see the showers moving painfully slow as this cold front slowly is working to the south and east but the clouds do lag and linger well to the west. the clouds will be with us tonight and through much of the day tomorrow and you're also starting to see snow showers developing east and south of the great lakes and we could even see a couple of flurries or snow showers late tonight and parts during the day tomorrow. tonight though a lost clouds. again flurries could develop late, 20's in the suburbs 36 degrees for center city and if you're up very early tomorrow morning and even through the 9 o'clock hour those winds will be funneling out of the northwest and everyone will have wind chills tomorrow morning in the mid and upper 20's. and it doesn't get much better tomorrow afternoon as that low develops and a high to the

sharrie williams joining us. the big story on "action news" is the gruesome discovery inside of a home in the city's bridesburg section. >> "action news" reporter chad pradelli is live outside police headquarters with all details. chad. >> reporter: sharrie as one philadelphia detective put it to me, this was like a caged animal that got loose. the suspect is described as a troubled young man who it appears just snapped. police say the suspect zachary pritchard stabbed his mother and his grandmother inside their home on the 2800 block of reynolds. >> i saw him this morning. he was all blood deal. his socks were all bloody. >> reporter: investigators say the 19-year-old called police claiming three intruders committed the crime but he had hand wounds consistent with someone stabbing. the alleged murder weapon was found in the house. neighbors and police say a troubled home life may have led him to kill. pritchard it appears was locked in his room. human feces covered the floor. the home had no
