>> good morning 7:00 a.m. saturday march 28. here's some of the stories we're following on "action news." a north philadelphia warehouse has gone up in flames. we'll have an update on efforts to bring the multi-alarm blaze under control. gunned down in his own home. police look for a gunman after a unanimous is shot and killed inside his philadelphia apartment overnight. amanda knox responds after an italian court overturns her murder conviction. chris sowers is outside with a look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. it's a little cold out there today. >> reporter: i don't know what toes this morning i'm so over this right now. it's blustery and cold. as we look at the numbers these are air temperatures. every location is reporting windchills in the mid 20s right now. it's an unusual cold morning around the delaware valley.

look at fleetwood and slatington, both locations coming in at 27 degrees, 31 in warrington. quakertown, 29. center city and chester both showing 35. glassboro, 34. agenda beach. 36. smyrna, 35 dover, 36 and woodbine 37. throwing salt in the wound how do snow flurries sound this morning, salem flurries reported there. bayside. bridgeton, flurries to the southwest and gandys beach reporting flurries. we'll have more in the far western suburbs. this is steadier west of reading and lincoln the western portions of lancaster and berks counties, reporting light snow this morning. fortunately this is not going to stick around that long. hamptons moderate snow. southern portions of connecticut reporting moderate snow. this is the tail end of a coastal system that's developing. we'll mills out on that.

new england will see anywhere from 1 to 3 204-inch. easter around the corner and it looks like we're getting ready fore i say mass. cloudy -- ready for christmas. cloudy skies and cold, 42. here's how it will plail -- play out, 42 degrees with a windchill of 36. it's not all bad news in the seven-day forecast. we have warmer temperatures to talk about i'll bring that to you in about ten minutes. eva. >> an update on our breaking news, philadelphia firefighters have gained the upper hand on a four-alarm warehouse fire in hunting park. crews were called out at 2:30 a.m. the fire was placed under control after 6:00 a.m. moments after arriving thick black smoke began billowing from the windows of the first and second floors of the warehouse.

the action cam is live on scene. firefighters continue to pour water on the roof. nobody is believed to have inside at the time of the fire. fire officials say the blaze was tough to battle because it's located near railroad tracks. thrve been no reported -- there have been no reported injuries, fire officials established a collapse zone to protect firefighters from a possible collapse. "action news" learned that warehouse in north philadelphia is affecting service on the manayunk norristown regional rail is suspended until further notice due to the four-alarm blaze. commuters should go to septa.org for alternatives. police are looking for a gunman who shot an kids a man it happened on 4300 block of elizabeth street in frankford. the 26-year-old was inside the apartment when someone forced

their way in and shot the man dead. no arrests and no words on why he was shot. two men are rushed to the hospital after a shooting in southwest philadelphia. the gunfire rang out only 6500 block of elm wood avenue. two men were hit and taken to pen presbyterian hospital where they were listed in stable condition. no arrests have been made. students from a montgomery county high school say pictures of naked girls are being passed around by phone. some boys were trading nude pictures of their girlfriends on mind. a friend of the victim said the girls were exploited and dehuman ized. some are outraged. >> there's a lot of tension this is all everybody has been talking about for the past two or three days. people are upset about it.

>> towamencin police say they are conducting an investigation with the montco da's office. overseas, two pilots were rescued after they were forced to eject. both airmen are in good health after being rescued. the saudis blame technical failure for the crash. ten people were killed in airstrikes in yemen to bring a rebel group to its knees. a storage site was hit. it is over for amanda knox an italian judge overturned her

conviction for the stabbing death of her roommate. she was acquitted and convicted again and could have failed a new trial. she spoke last night from her home in seattle. >> i am incredibly grateful for what has happened for the justice i received for the support i've had from everyone from my family, my friends to strangers to people like you you saved my life and i am so grateful. >> when asked what she would say to the family of her roommate who was killed, knox said quote i am the lucky one. the racist chant sung by members of the university of oklahoma was taught during the frat's national leadership. it referenced lynching and used a racial slur. two students were expelled and

two dozen face punishment. dozens of high school students are cramping to find a place to -- scrambling to find a place to finish the academic year. charter school in warminster is filing for bankruptcy. senior matt is two months shy of graduating. >> i did my grad project, i had all as and bs and they hit me with this. >> he was going to school and he got a text message from a classmate that said don't bother going to school. it's closed. >> efforts to reach the administrators and the owners have gone unanswered. kids in philadelphia will get an extra day off this fall

because of the pope. street closures during the pope's visit will make it too hard to get to class on september 25th. 2.5 million people are expected to converge on the city and see the pontiff. a man traveled from seattle to philadelphia to attend a bachelor party an -- a typo led to the unlikely friendship. >> reporter: joey flew in town for this couple bride and groom jeff and amy. the thing is he never met them before. how they came to know each other is more intriguing. it start wld a simple e-mail. he was planning his bachelor party when he included joey. >> i started reading the

200 feet tall. crews will be monitoring the area and more evacuations are possible. let's get a check of our weather. it doesn't feel like spring, it hadn't felt like spring. >> reporter: one day, we got to 67 degrees on thursday. the rest of the week has been chilly. we've been seeing highs in the 40s, actually, five out of the last 6 days, we have high temperatures in the 40s. the normal is 57 degrees. so we continue to feel this icy chill here from old man winter. as we look live on sky 6. we are live at penns landing. we have clouds up there. generally speaking the winds are not too much of an issue they are out of the west at 10 miles per hour. it's a fairly quiet morning. we have flurries popping up west of reading and lancaster. more stuff flying south of wilmington. we'll go into the communities along the delaware bay cumberland county, agenda beach fortescue reporting snow shower activity. same thing with bay side. it's moving north ward up into

salem. farther north and west we go we have snow showers reading lincoln, same thing with lancaster and lebanon all reporting light snow this morning. we'll continue to see that over the next couple of hours. there could flurries or snow shower this afternoon. it's not going to amount to all that much. a just a few flakes flying. 35 degrees in philadelphia. dewpoint, 19. winds out of the north/northwest at 16 miles per hour. that's giving us a windchill of 25 to 28 degrees, feels more like february out there. allentown, 31. of the reading coming in at 0. 29 in lancaster, 34 in wilmington. millville, 36 degrees, dover also coming in at 36 degrees. 25 is our windchill. millville, 30, feels like 20 in allentown and teens in the poconos and lancaster. it's thanks to this low right here. this area of low pressure that's developing along the same frontal system that pulled through yesterday brought all the clouds and scattered showers across jersey and delaware.

now an area of low pressure has developed. the winds on the back edge have shifted out of the northwest. it's pulling all this cold air into the great lakes and the southern provinces of canada into the mid atlantic and the northeast. you can see where the pocket of cold air is follow the clouds. cold conditions setting up across the great lakes and the high plains. 20 in cincinnati. there's four feet of snow on the ground in toronto and quebec right along here. you don't have to go too far to the north to pick up a significant snow cover. that promotes the cold. we'll see the shots of cold air advancing northwest to southeast as long as there's snow cover out there. unfortunately there's plenty of it in southern canada. we'll get cold, driving winds out of the northwest, 15 to 20 miles per hour. by the time we get into sunday that low is long gone, it's well to the north in the canadian maritimes. the winds relax a little bit.

the high pressure takes over and that means calm conditions, winds begin to relax mild with temperatures around 50 degrees, we'll see the return of sunshine that cold air will pour in here overnight tonight. these are windchills later this afternoon, feeling like the mid 30s for everyone. below freezing that's what it will feel like north and west. 18 for the poconos. tomorrow morning, it will feel like 3 in the mountains. 16 in allentown, 18 in millville. overnight tonight 17 degrees for suburbs 25 degrees for center city. the windchills colder than the air temperatures. 48 degrees sunday, mile an hour day, but chilly for this time of the year. 58 degrees monday, monday afternoon there could showers.

>> reporter: biretta started painting in 1991 when she was 77 years old. >> sometimes i would forget myself and paints until 4:00 a.m. she started taking classes at rosemont college and went to the pennsylvania academy of the fine arts where she earned a certificate at 83. a holocaust survivor, she fled to the u.s. in 1939. she worked five decades as a nurse and retirement has not slowed her down. >> i cook for the family, i do the shopping, i study hebrew to keep my brain occupied. >> reporter: she published her autobiography at the age of 88. and she prides herself on packing everyday to its fullest. >> if you have too much time on

it's blustery and chilly out here. a look at the poconos 17 degrees philadelphia, 25, millville, 30. trenton, 28. we have flurries over southern portions of cumberland can do well west of this area of low pressure that's developing off the coast. it's the never-ending winter for new england. look at the snow totals expected over the next 24 hours for new england. that darker shade of blue toward the bottom of the screen which includes the hamptons that's another 2 to 4 inches of snow. for us back here it will pull in colder air. 42 is the forecasted high. you factor in the wind it will feel like the mid 30s all

office. dann cuellar channel 6 "action news." >> a boston police officer is fighting for his life after a shooting. it happened during a routine traffic stop. the suspect shot the officer below his right eye. the suspect was killed by other officers at the scene. he is a former army ranger served who served in iraq. he is in critical condition and kept in an induced coma. hey! a san diego woman was arrested on suspicion of drunk driver as she discovered by a local news crews passed out in the car. the car was sitting in the middle of the interstate around 1:00 a.m. once police arrived the woman took off on foot catching the highway patrol officer off guard.

to. >> reporter: we had the snowstorm last friday, i said we would see more flakes before it's over with. take a look at storm tracker 6 live, here we go we'll make a couple of zooms. we have a coastal low pulling to the north. we're seeing flurries and snow showers developing on the backside of that. we're zoom into chester county, southern chester county. kirkwood reporting light snow. smithville, lancaster county. cochranville reporting snow showers. as we travel to the north we're seeing more flakes fly in lincoln, adamstown reading reporting light snow this morning and flurries. even the delaware bay region reporting snow flurry activity. we're pretty much see that throughout the day it's not going to be snowing all day long but as there could flurries from time to time, lots of clouds and gusty breeze that's the view at the philadelphia international airport. 35 degrees is the 7:00 a.m. number wife of 25.

atlantic city seeing chilly conditions this morning. once again see the camera dancing around a little, 37 degrees in atlantic city, windchill of 31. it's a very blustery and unseasonable cool for this time of the year. normally we should be around 57 degrees for the high. today if we're lucky we get into the low 40s. allentown, 3 #. philadelphia, 35. millville, 36. winds out of the north northwest 15 to 20 miles per hour. these are actual wind speeds. the gusts are in the 20s. wilmington, 15, when you take the temperature and add on top of that a wind you get a windchill. this is what it feels like this morning. be prepared for windchills in the teens and 20s. feelings like 27 in atlantic city. 25 in philadelphia. 20 in allentown. 17 in the poconos.

the good news there's not too much to talk about the exception being this coastal storm which will blanket new england with 1 to 3 inches of snow. it's woman far to the northwest. it will not be affecting our area. we'll see leftover clouds and gusty breeze saturday of the storm. later this afternoon -- as a result of the storm. we'll have springs and snow flurries in monmouth and lake hurt. tomorrow is a quiet day return the sunshine, temperatures moderate to the upper 40s and low 50s. by the time we get into monday, the winds shift out of the southwest. we'll increase the clouds, but the highs get close to 60 degrees, i believe we're shooting for a high of 57 with rain showers late in the day. overnights it's blustery and chilly this weekend. 42 degrees the normal is 57.
