[ cheers and applause ] not a place for relaxation. my cousin sal and i talked tony romo, who is our guest on the show last night -- [ cheers and applause ] -- into going to a charity event at willie's an hour away from here. we do the show, we get something to eat, god forbid i miss a meal here. we cram into my car. there's a group of guys and somehow tony and i wind up in the way back seat where you put kids. so we drive in the back seat all the way out to this ghost town that willie nelson owns. he owns the whole town. the event started at 7:00. our show didn't start until 7:00. we get there, about 11:00, we drive in, there's no one in sight. the ghost town is a ghost town. there's an empty tent with three people cleaning up. in other words, i talked the quarterback for the dallas

cowboys into driving an hour to go to a party that was over. [ laughter ] that's why they call me mr. fun. [ cheers and applause ] oh, by the way, willie nelson is going to be joining us here tomorrow night. south by southwest festival. you know, some people worry that south by southwest has become too corporate, some people say they've sold out. but i think i speak for myself and everyone watching from the subway platiza lounge, powered by lady's foot locker and monster energy drink, if i say, no, we have not sold out, we've sold in. one of the popular spots to carouse surg south by southwest is sixth street. [ cheers and applause ] i came for the show. and i ended up falling in with -- i ended up on a golf cart for a few days just driving around from venue to venue. and my friend said, you should go see this girl jenny lewis who's doing a show. >> jimmy: she's great. >> yeah. and so then from then on, it was just like, we're going to go see these people. and then i just drove the cart. that's all i did was drive. they told me where to go. it was really fun. >> jimmy: sounds like fun. only you would be allowed to drive a golf cart around town, yes? >> i have a background. >> jimmy: there are certain subjects that you're able to take. have you been to willie nelson's ranch? >> no, i -- no, but i've been out with willie nelson. it's a similar thing. >> jimmy: yeah. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: is this your own shirt or something that wardrobe -- >> i wore all my own clothes on that movie. >> jimmy: really? >> all my own clothes. i did all my clothes and i did my own makeup which basically i got a suntan. >> jimmy: did you really did your own makeup? >> the first day the lady was doing my makeup, smoking a cigarette. she leaned in and burned my face. and i thought, i can do that well. you know? so i just got a suntan. >> jimmy: you've been known to, when you go into a bar or party, to jump behind the bar, start bar tending, serving people drinks. is that -- when you do that, do you take their actual orders? are you making them what you want to serve them? how does it work, exactly? >> well, you know, when you jump behind a bar, you're sort of an auxiliary helper. a first responder is really what you are. [ laughter ]

>> you're there because the bartender's not getting it done quickly enough, maybe is overwhelmed by the experience. you try to help. but you want to get repeat business. sometimes you make them something a little more special or larger than they would have wanted. >> what's your specialty drink? >> for most of the people down here, what you are given is water. [ laughter ] hey, i'm not talking to you young people, i'm talking to you old folks up there. you know, if you can drink a glass of water with every drink you drink, you become much more interesting later on in the evening. >> jimmy: that is true. do you have other methods for dealing with hangovers, preventing or treating them the next day? >> well, i have a friend who's a chemist, told me the breakdown in the "b" complex. if you can pound multiple vitamins. when i was a house painter we used to just plop multiple vitamins first thing in the morning before we started painting. >> you find that helps? >> it really does help, yeah. water's the key.

[ laughter ] >> really bad at it. >> jimmy: when you get a script, if your boss handed you an envelope and you don't know if there's a termination notice in it. >> yeah. >> jimmy: and your kind of terminations are really terrible terminations. >> right, right. >> it's the pink slip, right, when the pink pages come out, the revisions come on colored

paper. >> jimmy: those are the ones you watch out for in the indignity. not only get killed off on the show but on pink paper too. those are very graphic -- the scene last week where your friend noah, there was an incident inside a revolving glass door. and that was something else. is that something when you guys are shooting a scene like that, are you able to eat lunch and carry on? as if nothing revolting is happening? >> yeah. i mean, you work all day, you're starving. yeah. you're used to it. plus there's zombies around you eating too. [ laughter ] >> jimmy: so austin, what's the number one thing you'll eat while you're here? looking to eat, besides hotel chicken wings? >> tex-mex. >> pulled barbecue. >> jimmy: pulled pork, yes. anything besides your room service? >> it's just really good. [ laughter ]
