but one paid the ultimate price. >> he was a good kid. i'm not saying he was a saint but he was a good kid. he was a happy kid. >> reporter: tracy bright mourns the death of her son. he was shot and killed around 11:30 last night in the parking lot of the rooftop lounge which sits on 130 south at the camden-haddon border. gunfire erupted as a teen spring break party was letting out. neighbors heard the shooting and were out of bed in time to see the chaos. we're protecting this woman's identity. >> all we heard was a lot of gun shots and we seen kids running down the street hiding behind cars. it was crazy. >> reporter: when police arrived they found a fatally wounded 18-year-old tymer ebright from camden, two females a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old received nonlife-threatening wounds. >> there was no problems or altercations prior to the shooting so we don't know what fronted the shooting itself. >> reporter: to say the least the bright family is devastate bide their loss.

>> it's ridiculous. it makes no sense many people just don't know how much harm they do people when they do things like this. how bad it affects the family. he's got a little brother that looks up to him. what is he going to do now? i'm just at a loss for words as to why someone would cut his life down so soon. a baby on the way. he was doing such good things with his life. he was trying to go into the military and all of that was cut short and for what? >> reporter: bright's family is appealing to the killer or killers to turn themselves in to authorities right weigh. live in camden, vernon odom channel6 "action news." >> philadelphia police receased surveillance video of the burgundy van they say was used to abduct a woman over the weekend. the woman who is a jewelry store employee was walking to her car in center city saturday when she was taken. police say the attackers were after the code to the safe where she worked and that they beat and kicked her in hopes

that she would give up the information they wanted. detectives say the thieves robbed her and then dumped her in a cemetery. officials are looking for a burgundy van with white graffiti markings. it's possible alford. if you have any information of course call philadelphia police. the man in these photos is suspected of stealing a wilmington woman's identity. delaware state police are trying to identify the suspect that they say used the victim's debit card to buy $400 worth of items at a wal-mart in elsmere. if you recognize the man in the photos, you're asked to contact police at (302)660-3799. crews are still working at this hour to clean up after a tractor-trailer overturned and spilled its load on the new jersey turnpike. chopper 6hd overhead at 1:30 this afternoon. this is affecting both north and southbound lanes in hamilton township. the driver of the truck was taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. no word exactly what caused

that crash. turning to the forecast it's a gorgeous day. a great way to start off the week. the action cam was at washington square park earlier today where lots of people were enjoying the warm weather, from exercising to just lounging around all great ways to soak up some sun. and let's head down to the shore. sky 6hd in atlantic city. a bright but chilly day at the beach. meteorologist adam joseph is outside. he joins us with the latest from accuweather. hi, adam. >> yeah, sharrie it's beautiful inland but at the shore today mighty chilly with that wind coming in out of the south. for philadelphia, though, with that sunshine and southerly wind we hit so far 74 degrees in philadelphia. the first day it's been in the 70's since november 24th of last year, so hopefully you got out and enjoyed today because big changes arrive tomorrow and really for the rest of the work week. here are the numbers. millville 70 degrees. 73 in wilmington. lehigh valley 74 degrees but there it is, at the shore from

beach haven to the boardwalk in ac, to sea isle city, 54 degrees. again with that wind coming in off of an ocean temperature of just 46 degrees. but if you're hitting one of your local playgrounds in and around the delaware valley, sun and clouds with a mild breeze 71 degrees at 6 o'clock, 70 at 7:00. a lot of kids are off this week from school so get them out and enjoy the weather because they'll be stuck indoors through much of the work week. we're looking at those temperatures in new england right now. it is mighty cold from burlington to bangor, only in the 30's. boston 41. northern new england right now we're seeing some snow with a frontal boundary that eventually will push northerly winds our way. so, as we look ahead in that accuweather forecast, no sun for the next three days with on and off showers and high temperatures are about to fall into the 40's. yes, a 30-degree difference from what we're feeling right now. we'll talk about those numbers, sharrie and monica, coming up in that full accuweather forecast along

team this year at 6abc.com/phillies. there we'll have reports from every phillies game for you all season long along with in depth coverage from the "action news" sports teen our sister network espn. that time of year. >> i know it is. okay, time for the "action news" traffic report. >> let's take it live to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. what do you have matt. >> it's that time of the afternoon when we sit in big traffic jams pretty much every day, monica and sharrie and this afternoon they're even a little bit extra heavy as so many people do want to be out and about on such a nice afternoon. here is one of the biggies, 95 in delco stacked from the state line approaching the blue route. a crash on the shoulder that has been attracting some attention. southbound on 95 you too have an accident to contend with right by the blue route, that one in the gore pointer. this is the delay that it's causing that northbound accident coming northbound from the state line. definitely slow. about double, even a little more what it should be on that northbound travel time. and we still have that overturned trash truck. as you come out of east falls and try to get on the city avenue bridge the ramp from

kelly drive outbound and ridge avenue westbound to the southbound side of city avenue remains closed. you can use the falls bridge to get across the river or enter the ramp from the eastbound side of ridge avenue to get to the southbound side of one. crash that we had on the schuylkill eastbound near girard out of the way now as is one in pennsauken on the northbound side of 130 approaching 38 but we still have this fire location in westville blocking off route 47 near 130. stick with 130 to get around it and in robbinsville still have that overturned truck. it's mainly blocking southbound traffic there south of 7a. speeds of just 13 miles an hour as you head down towards route 206. will end tea going on monica and sharrie. we'll check it again in the next half hour. >> matt thank you. still much more to come on "action news" at 5:00. a new study raises big concerns about breast milk sold online. reporter and registered nurse ali gorman tells us about what researchers found in some of the milk that could be harmful to infants. >> your latest smart tv could be spying on you.

>> ♪♪ >> chopper 6hd over breaking news happening right now at the lehigh valley airport in allentown. we're being told that this small aircraft had some landing gear trouble. it actually skidded off the runway. emergency personnel called in to assist with this. about 4:25 this afternoon. we also know no injuries a part of this but again this happening in allentown pa. chopper 6hd overhead giving us a look. personnel, emergency crews as, see are there attending to this plain but again the small aircraft having some landing gear troubles, skidded off the runway but no injuries reported. of course if we get in you updates we'll bring them to you here and on high pressure. >> the jury in the boston marathon bombing trial could start deliberating at any time. closing arguments were given today. the defense admits that dzhokhar tsarnaev was the bomber during the attack almost two years ago but they

claim he was acting under his brother's influence. three people were killed, hundreds more were injured. if connect haved jurors will have to decide whether tsarnaev will be put to death. it will be much more on this trial for the boston bombing suspect coming up later tonight on world news with david muir at 6:30 right after "action news" at 6:00. >> israeli officials say they are still considering taking military action against iran's nuclear program. this comes just days after iran settled on a deal with several world leaders to scale back its nuclear efforts. in return, iran will see relief from economic sanctions. leaders in israel say the deal is too lenient on iran and leaves israel vulnerable to an attack. health check now, there is a warning for women. if you are buying breast milk for your baby online, it may not be what you think. >> health reporter and registered nurse ali gorman joins us from the "action news" big board with more on this. hi, ali. >> it may not be a hundred percent human milk. a new study shows about 102

samples that were advertised online 10 percent also had cow's milk. researchers at nationwide children's hospital who helped conduct this study say samples may have been topped off with cow's milk in order to collect the full payment. but if an infant is allergic this could be very harmful. a previous study has also found some online breast milk to be contaminated with bacteria or viruses. the fda has issued warnings saying purchasing human milk online is not safe. it hasn't been banned but experts say that will likely happen in the future. we already know smoking cigarettes is bad for your health. it can lead to lung disease and it can increase your risk for several cancers. now we're learning it can also make the super bug mrsa even more resistant to antibiotics and more difficult to treat. mrsa typically starts as a skin infection but it can progress and be deadly. in an experiment with mice when exposed to smoke the

super bug survived longer and caused more severe complications. and it's spring. i know a lot of people are thinking about losing weight and more doctors are now screening for obesity and trying to help people lose weight. so what works? before recommending a program healthcare providers want to see scientific evidence proving they work. so researchers at johns hopkins crunched the numbers. out of dozens of commercial programs only 11 have been formally tested and only two are supported by evidence. they're weight watchers and jenny craig. >> overall it seems that these programs help people lose weight and then keep it off for weight watchers and for jenny craig. nutri system helps people lose weight but they haven't done longer term studies that we could find in order to prove that people keep the weight off. >> other programs including atkins and online plans have been shown to help people lose

weight in the short term but are lacking studies in the long term. and if you're just losing weight for a few months and then putting it back on it doesn't do too much to improve your overall health. guys. >> thank you so much. bone marrow transplant patients took a walk to celebrate their second chance at life this afternoon. the indoor fundraising walk was held at the hospital of the university of pennsylvania. because of their fragile immune systems the patients will not be able to take part in the big be the match walk on the 18th but still they did their part for marrow transplant research by working to encourage more people to become donors. >> philadelphia mayor michael nutter announced the return of human family day today. the event happens every april to remember dr. martin luther king's vision of a color-blind society. april is also the same month dr. king was assassinated. organizers say the event helps promote cultural diversity through food song and dance. this year's human family day will be held on sunday

>> time now for accuweather. meteorologist adam joseph joining us. can't even get it out i'm so excited about the 70's today. >> understandable. >> it's a sin to be inside on day like today because you know you're going to be stuck inside for the rest or at least most of the rest of the week.

and center city you can see that camera bouncing a little bit here with that hazy sunshine. first time we've hit the 70's this year and the camera is shaking not because it's chilly out but because of those strong southerly winds. right now we're 71 in quakertown, 73 in pottstown. kennett square 72 degrees. tannersville martins creek at 70 degrees. as you head to the south and east you're noticing how temperatures drop off as you head towards glassboro bridgeton vineland into the 60's. hit the shore and we're only into the 50 right now all the way from cape may through stone harbor into long each island while the state of delaware is in the 70's and it's all because of the wind direction. when you have that wind out of the south coming off of the land you hold onto that warmth. minute you go over the bay or you go over the ocean, those temperatures are only in the 40's so it influences the air temperature at the shore which those winds are at a good 15 to 20 miles an hour. we look to the west, the clouds are beginning to build. some high clouds coming into the lehigh valley.

even parts of philadelphia. the rain lagging not too far behind so after midnight showers will be developing as those clouds increase and early tomorrow morning it's warm overnight and early in the morning with temperatures in the 50's and even 60's to the south. there will be some scattered showers around for that morning rush. kind of an on and off damp day tomorrow. at 6 o'clock in the evening you can see these pockets of some downpours and some light showers but another mild day with temperatures in the 60's, even some areas near 70 but then the winds switch out of the northeast here by wednesday morning. this is 7:00 a.m. we're only in the 40's by wednesday morning still with those showers around and that continues into wednesday afternoon. so the rain percentages are high this week. 90 percent tomorrow is the wettest day. still rather damp wednesday and thursday but we may have more periods on wednesday and thursday where it's a little dry compared to those showers passing through. as we look at your five day at 5:00 mild with a few showers at times tomorrow it's 69. and then the highs are only

>> ♪♪ >> hello again and here's what's happening on "action news" tonight. an overturned semi causes traffic trouble on the schuylkill expressway. plus a road rage shooting suspect is off the streets in texas. police say he opened fire on a woman for simply honking her horn. >> and is it possible for your tv to actually spy on you? consumer reports says yes. but there are ways to protect yourself. but first closing arguments have wrapped up now in the boston marathon bombing trial there this after an exhausting and often emotional trial. the jury now gets the case. abc's marci gonzalez joins us live now from boston with the very latest. >> reporter: monica and sharrie the judge gave the jurors specific instructions before sending them home for the night explaining what they should do and some things they should consider in their deliberations which we now know will begin first thing tomorrow morning. some of the final images and words left with the jury, graphic and heart wrenching.

during today's closing arguments the prosecution replayed videos and showed pictures of the boston marathon bombing and the bloody aftermath pointing at defendant dzhokhar tsarnaev saying he and his brother tamerlan considered themselves to be soldiers and they were bringing their battle to boston. also focusing on the anti-american words the 21-year-old defendant reportedly scrawled on the inside of a boat before he was captured "stop killing our people and we will stop." countering the defense's claim that tamerlan was the mastermind and that dzhokhar was under his brother's influence. >> the defense shows the picture of dzhokhar following tamerlan through those pictures showing that he was just a follower. >> reporter: the defense team led by attorney judy clark who successfully fought to keep union any bomber ted kaczynski off death row hoping to spare tsarnaev's life. charges carry the possibility of the death penalty.

the defense trying to couldn't things his role was different. but admitting planting bombs at the marathon was a senseless act. if he's found guilty the trial will move into the sentencing phase which we're told could last several weeks. live in boston, marci gonzalez channel6 "action news." monica back to you. >> thank you. coverage of the trial continues tonight at 6:30. abc's tom tom lamas will be friday boston. scary moments in lehigh county this afternoon were a small plane skidded off a runway. >> chopper 6hd over the queen city airport in allentown. the small plane left the runway and crashed into a fence. fortunately nobody was hurt. it is still not clear what caused the accident. >> authorities in texas have made an arrest in a violent road rage shooting. they are not releasing the suspect's name but they say they found the suv and the

possible weapon used in this shooting at an apartment complex in north houston today. the victim, 28-year-old kay hafert was shot in the head after honking at another driver back on march 20. doctors had to remove bullet fragments from her skull but she is expected to make a full recovery despite being badly wounded she was able to give authorities a description of the suspect and officials say that is what helped lead to the arrest. a virginia fraternity at the center of a gang rape scandal says it will pursue all available legal action against rolling stone magazine. the fraternity was the subject of an article in the magazine last year. now the story detailed the brutal sexual attack of a woman only known as jackie by members of the fraternity. police say there is no evidence that chain of events happened. now investigators blame several people for letting the story go to print. >> it was the collective fault of the reporter, the editor, the editor's supervisor and

the fact checking department. >> it's unclear what legal action the fraternity will take. the author has issued an official apology and the magazine retracted the story. we're getting our first look inside kenya's garissa university after last week's deadly attack. you can see dozens of bullet holes on the walls of the building as well as bloodstains. abandoned shoes and clothing were also scattered around the campus. the islamic militant group al-shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack which killed 148 people. meantime kenya's military has launched airstrikes against al-shabaab in somalia. >> the campaign to reduce gun violence in america came to the university of delaware campus today. the university hosted the talk on the subject to mark the start of national public health week. attorney general matt den who has made gun violence a top priority spoke on statewide efforts and dan webster from the johns hopkins center for gun policy spoke about national challenges. up later this week there will

you allowed this data collection when you agreed to the lengthy privacy policy during setup. 47 screens of text with samsung. lg and vizio ask you to sign away your privacy. when people find out what they're asked to agree to many are upset. >> i think it's a modern day peeping tom. >> makes me uncomfortable. >> i don't like. it invades privacy. >> reporter: when consumer reports e-mailed the manufacturers to ask how they're using the technology spokes people from samsung and vizio didn't comment. lg says it has no current plans to do so. the consumer reports says that could change at any time. >> you might think why don't i turn these marketing features off. well, it's not always so easy. to do so you have to fight your way through menu settings. >> reporter: on an lg set go to settings then options then live plus. click off then close. with vizio it's a voyage

through three menus. to disability feature on a samsung it's a similar trip to find the box sink plus and marketing. consumer reports says disabling the marketing feature may cause you to lose offers but that may be a small price to pay for knowing that what you're watching remains private. for more detailed advice on how to stop your smart tv from tracking you go to 6abc.com. i'm nydia han channel6 "action news." >> overturned semi created big problems for drivers headed westbound on the schuylkill expressway today. it happened about 8:00 a.m. in upper merion between gulph road and route 202. chopper 6hd was there shortly after where just one lane of traffic was squeezing by. the chopper flew back over the scene later around noon. the traffic was not much better as you see. all lanes are now opened and fortunately nobody was seriously hurt. no word yet what caused the accident. speaking of traffic it's time to get a check on the monday commute. >> all right, monday's never that fun. matt and especially on the

roads. how is it looking. >> but at least we have the home opener to enjoy this afternoon. they're wrapping things up at citizens bank park and we're celebrating the needs this afternoon with a lot of red. a lot of red brake lights here in center city on the vine street expressway. westbound stacked approaching 76. eastbound no better. a solid line from 76 the whole way out to 95. and we're still dealing with issues like this in east falls the overturned trash truck that continues to block the ramp from kelly drive outbound and ridge avenue westbound to the southbound side of city a the city avenue bridge looks like the ramp is going to stay blocked for a little while. you can get to the city avenue bridge from the eastbound side of ridge avenue or take the falls bridge instead. we've had several issues in mercer county this afternoon. overturned vehicle crash on southbound one is cleared. water main break blocking the southbound 29. still have that overturned truck blocking lanes southbound, south of 7a on the new jersey turnpike. busy one mon can sharrie.

heavy coats even though they were sitting on the sand. it was cold at the shore because of the that wind off the water. it is going to get colder here. >> take iting. >> i got to tell you the truth, right. i can't fib the whole three minutes. as we take a look right now -- i wish i could sometimes but double scan live radar will show the high clouds moving in from the north and west, no precipitation right now. and after a couple of beautiful days, this picture was taken today. some of the buds on the trees are starting to open up. they're right on the verge so you get a couple of nice days, given that it is so late at this point for some of our trees and even some of the shrubs to bloom, that everything will bloom at once once we get a string of beautiful days. speaking of the spring beauty, in philadelphia 75 degrees today. allentown 75. wilmington 74. trenton 73. so pretty uniform temperatures inland but again at the shore, on the boardwalk, it was just 56 degrees this afternoon and we're still only in the 50's on every shore point even

parts of delaware, some of those beaches because of that wind coming in out of the south off of the ocean which is just 46, so it feels nice if you're in the shade -- or in the sun protected from the wind at the shore but if you're on that open sand it was chilly. as we look at satellite and radar, high clouds moving in from the west behind the edge of those clouds rain is beginning to break out in western and central parts of pennsylvania. so, overnight the clouds will thicken up. showers will come in after midnight. 49 to 55. so, it stays mild overnight tonight. and we have another mild day on tap tomorrow, despite there's no sun. you can see this round of showers coming in right around the morning rush and thereafter through 10 o'clock. that pushes to the north and east and we still see these on and off showers throughout the afternoon for the evening rush so some slow times on the roads tomorrow but notice the temperatures. they're still pretty mild no matter where you are. but high pressure to the north, which stays to the north tomorrow so we're to the south of this front.

this high will start to wedge to our north and east and sending a northeasterly wind our way pushing the system to the south by wednesday so's raw, it's damp and it is february-like with temperatures only in the upper 40's. so almost a 30-degree drop in temperature from today to the middle of the week. as we look at the seven-day forecast exclusively here, 69 with a few showers at times tomorrow. it's raw it's damp, it's chilly. wednesday and thursday with highs only in the 40's. and then by friday, we're back up to 73 degrees. so another huge jump at the end of the week but it still comes with a lot of clouds. some pops of sun but another round of downpours even a thunderstorm with a cold front friday afternoon. then we are pretty much precipitation free as it's looking right now saturday and sunday with highs in the low to the mid 60's and still fairly dry monday with a temperature of 66, so it was the best day of the work week

>> ♪♪ >> monday night, 80 philadelphia police recruits are the first to take part in a new training program and the city of philadelphia honors slain police sergeant robert wilson, iii. but the big story on "action news" tonight is the continuing search for three men who kidnapped and savagely assaulted a woman in center city philadelphia. "action news" has obtained surveillance video of the at terek's van driving into the parking garage at 733 chestnut and then the woman walking to her car after leaving work on jewelers' row. what happened to the woman over the next number of hours was truly brutal. "action news" reporter john rawlins is live outside the jewelry store where the woman works. john, what's the update here? >> reporter: jim, this is the first video we've seen concerning this rather disturbing incident here. it seems consistent with what the victim told police, that she was walking to her parked car which was parked in the lower level of that parking garage just across the street

when she was jumped -- well, three men jumped out of a burgundy van and abducted her. a surveillance camera in the garage picked up an image of what is thought to be the abductor's van complete with graffiti like markings. two hours later those who know her say it appears the victim is seen bidding goodbye to her boss. she walks down the ramp toward her car where she is grabbed. minutes after that, the burgundy older model ford van roars up the ramp. police say inside masked men will beat kick and use a stun gun on the 53-year-old victim in an effort to get a code to open safes at her work national watch and diamond. unable to get that the trio dumped the bound victim at this delaware county cemetery only to return and abductor her again rob her of her personal items and use her atm card before dumping her a second time. the victim a long time employee of the store is known by many in this close knit business district. >> whe
