times and fatally shooting walter scott in the back. slager has been fired and charged with murder. tonight, we have learned that he grew up in mount laurel, new jersey. wednesday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is word of local roots for former cop charged with murder walter scott in north charleston. "action news" reporter sharrie williams is live in front of the lenape high school in medford, sharrie. >> reporter: and jim, we have confirmed tonight that michael slager a attended high school here at lenape high but he grew up in the town over in mount laurel. neighbors there tell us that they remembered the slagers being a nice family. they also recalled michael as a young boy who went off to be in the coastguard. a police officer charged with shooting an unarmed a man in the back in south carolina lived part of his life right here in this mount laurel neighborhood. >> i think it is a same what happened. >> reporter: tonight neighbors shocked to learned such a big national story has ties to

their quiet street. >> it surprised me because i didn't know that it was connected to the street. >> reporter: michael slager has been fired from the north charleston police department and is now behind bars, facing murder charges after cell phone video surfaced showing final seconds of the fatal encounter between he and 50 year-old walter lemar scott. it started as a traffic stop but slager says things escalated and that scott reached for his stun gun. the department said slager feared for his life and opened fire. >> shots fired, subject is down. he grabbed my taser. >> reporter: but video tells a different story and shows scott running from the officer and then slager firing eight shots killing scott. scott's devastated mother said she almost could not watch the video. >> it just tore my heart to pieces. i pray that this never happens to another person.

state police say shot his father in the head while they were driving on the schuylkill expressway last night. troopers say the elder corbin was driving his son to a drug and mental health treatment center. kymere was in the back seat. seventy-six westbound was shut down or partially block for hours. corbin is now jailed on a half million-dollar cash bail charged with aggravated assault. his father elbert is in critical condition. police in chester county are concerned tonight that there are additional victims of an alleged sexual predator that they don't yet know about. that is because the the the suspect works as a photographer and a dj. twenty-eight year-old daniel milowicki has been accused of assaulting a 21 year-old woman after posting a modeling ad on craigs list. investigators say they found a stash of child pornography and up skirt videos in his chester county home, and also a human sized cage in his basement. the city of philadelphia
