firefighter and resident are treated for injuries after a blaze burns two homes in delaware county. and how temple's mascot and someone wrapped in bubble wrap are hoping to keep you safe when you cross the street. but the big story is potentially dangerous weather threatening a large part of the united states. the storms have spawned tornadoes and bringing down trees and reports of hail the size of baseballs 6700 people are told to stay on alert. here is more on the aftermath . >> reporter: good afternoon in the last 24 hours there are eight reports of tornadoes and more than 200 reports of extreme weather. hail wind and tornadoes tearing through the central states more severe weather than your average

april showers, today the big concern is the huge swath of states under tornado watch from illinois to texas. in missouri, the national weather service is on the ground today investigating tornado reports. >> they were like screaming out loud. >> this little girl was on a school bus when the storm hit. >> was freaking out and everything was going in circles and i saw a cloud going down in circles and i tried to get down low and tuck my head. >> in ohio 75 miles per hour winds ripped trees from the earth. >> look at the hail hitting the midwest. in kansas this windshield was shattered by balls of ice and in idaho six inches of hail filled the roads but in the midst of this severe weather a silver lining as a rainbow appeared in this tornado.

>> reporter: and in addition to that heavy rains and flash flooding is affecting a good part of the country and is headed to us. across the delaware and lehigh valleys, we are dealing with another chilly damp day sky 6 hd is looking at a dreary center city skyline. it looks to be clearing a bit this time but there are low clouds, meteorologist, david murphy, joins us at the big board with all the details. >> i would not call it clearing but we are seeing brighter patches in the clouds and ma may be the case over the next several hours that rough stuff with the warmer air in the central states staying out there today because we are still stuck in the cool air mass, we were not expecting much on stormtracker 6 live double scan and all we have really say is a

began at the back of one home and the second floor and roof were damaged by flames and the firefighter was treated for burns and the resident suffers minor injuries, the cause of fire is under investigation. in bensalem, buck county police believe that alcohol and speeding were factors in this deadly crash on mechanicsville road. a ford mustang struck a utility pole while he was trying to pass someone. he was killed instantly and the roads were closed while crews worked to repair the damaged utility poll. temple university grads had a chance to talk to 160 employers both large and small firms, sent representatives to look for potential hires, employers are most interested in hiring employees with business

mid-40s, between 4:00 and 7:00 not changing all that much and cloudy and cool, for the ball game, a repeat of last night as well. raw and chilly not quite as windy but a chilly breeze blowing at times and like last night we'll spend the day in the mid to low 40s and like last night i would recommend layers to the ball game and gloves would not be a bad idea. tomorrow a warm front shoots past us and we start out in the low 40s in the morning, we zoom to 75 for a high, the tradeoff is that a cold front is coming in and that will produce the chance for passing showers and late day thunderstorms and in some cases those could be gusty. during the day a couple of lighter showers possible by noon we may see something kicking in by noon and 4:00, we see the main line of precipitation come through and fire up a thunderstorm this spots. some could be gusty and off the
