by hail, and damaging wind and the the reason we're paying a good deal attention to all of this we could see the same weather pattern come tomorrow here. a substantial portion of the midwest and south were covered by tornado warnings and sirens today. more than 700 flights were canceled at chicago's o'hare airport, we're still waiting to hear about damage reports from the twisters themselves. hopefully they won't be severe. needless to say meteorologist cecily tynan will have her eye trained on double scan radar tomorrow, cecily, we should make it clear, that the fact, just because the same system is heading our way that doesn't mean we will be tornado alley come tomorrow. >> that is exactly right, jim. we're getting a piece of the storm system and it will be wakening heading east. live double scan showing what we're track ago this cold front that spawned 16 reported tornadoes today, that is over illinois. that system will be tracking east.

"action news" reporter sharrie williams is live from the satellite center tonight. as we have reported, sharrie the fired officer michael slager now charged with murder is a native of mount laurel, new jersey. >> reporter: yes, indeed he has ties to south jersey, jim. we now know as of today this dash cam video from the police cruiser was released today. it shows a brief exchange between officer slager and walter scott. it also captured scott opening his car door and then running away. this is the dash cam video from officer michael slager's patrol car. the footage captures what happened leading up to the traffic stop that ended in a deadly shooting. you see slager following

walter scott hoist driving a mercedes. according to the police report slager pulled scott over for a broken taillight north charleston police officer then approaches scott's car. >> can i see your license and registration. >> reporter: slager returns to his patrol car and then for a moment scott gets out of the mercedes. >> stay in the the car. >> he is instructed to get back inside his car. moments later scott bolts from the vehicle and takes off running. slager gives chase. the dash cam video does not show moments that follows or the deadly shooting. what happens next is known only because of this video, recorded by an eyewitness. the last seconds of scott's life were recorded by feiden san tan a slager radioed that scott grab his taser. santana says that is not what he saw.
