district attorney jack whelan says mary lynch ran a scheme. she says lynch commingled funds and used more than $60,000 of stolen money to buy tickets to bob dillon and taylor swift concerts. >> she sat in the front row of the flyers game and those flyers tickets were purchased on stub hub and on stub hub i believe the purchase price of those flyers tickets each was approximately $600. >> reporter: lynch is a 29 year employee of the d.a.'s office. investigators learned of the alleged thefts after launching an investigation into possible stolen evidence at upper darby police. the d.a.'s office has an independent auditor for forfeited funds but it failed to uncover the alleged scheme. >> miss lynch would create an and alter court documents would forge the judge's names onto documents.

>> reporter: whelan says lynch has admitted to the crimes. she's been fired and in convicted will lose her pension. his office is implementing new internal controls to prevent such thefts. >> we believe this would be the first starts of making sure that this doesn't happen in the future. >> reporter: and whelan has referred this case to the bucks county district attorney's office. lynch is out on $100,000 unsecured bail. i'm live in media, chad pradelli, channel6 "action news." jim. >> thank you, chad. video is just in of a brutal attack at a gas station in the olney section of philadelphia. police just released surveillance video of this fight in the 5500 block of north fifth street. the attack happened just before 7 o'clock on tuesday night. you can see a silver honda odyssey pull up, a group of men and women then gets out of the at -- and attacks a 51-year-old man with a hammer, mace and a piece of wood.

two of the suspects were arrested a short time later. they are charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. police are looking to identify the other suspects. the victim remains in critical condition tonight. a fire that killed one person in newark, delaware, this morning rekindled this afternoon. firefighters returned to the possum park apartments in the 600 block of old capitol trail to put out the smoke and flames. firefighters say the original blaze broke out in the first floor apartment at 10 o'clock this morning. a 60-year-old woman in that apartment was killed. another woman suffered two -- excuse me -- two broken ankles when she jumped from a second floor balcony to escape. one firefighter suffered minor burns. this is the way it looked today in logan circle in philadelphia. temperatures disappointed everybody today. never getting out of the 50's. but that allowed to us avoid

stormy weather. let's check out double scan radar and cecily tynan. >> and jim the warm air is just 90 miles south of us, so disappointing that the cold air just really didn't want to give it up. so, we have that warm front that's just to our south. georgetown it's 75 degrees but it's 56 degrees in philadelphia. that warm front advances out to the west and fortunately when you do have cold air in place, it's like kryptonite to severe weather. so the chance of thunderstorms tonight is minimal at best. satellite6 though, showing that we did have a lot of cloud cover. all these clouds ahead of a cold front that will be sweeping through tonight and that will lead the way to plenty of sunshine tomorrow and double scan showing that you really have to go well down to the south where do you have that warm air to see the severe storms. richmond virginia, this one cluster producing hail an inch in diameter and 60 miles an hour winds. that will well be missing us

office said the move was aimed at efficiency and tighter controls. one day you spend $82 million to buy the revel casino in atlantic city, the next day or almost the next day, you're paying thousands of dollars in daily fines because the massive building has lost its power. that's the world of glen straub. live in atlantic city tonight is "action news" reporter john rawlins and john, straub had to see this coming, didn't he? >> reporter: everybody else saw it coming, jim that's for sure. after months of contentious bankruptcy proceedings here the handwriting seemed to be pretty clear on that wall that the power company had signaled it needed to have some sort of deal in place if it was to continue to provide power or otherwise it was going pull the plug. it pulled the plug yesterday and that has brought the city into the mix. the city says with no power the building's fire systems including sprinklers won't work, that even a small fire could grow into a threat to firefighters. >> if it is a small fire it's going to propagate into a

>> she is no stranger to political drama and tonight paula brown finds herself in the middle of a firestorm in colwyn delaware county. "action news" reporter vernon odom is live at colwyn borough hall tonight. vernon. >> reporter: jim paula brown says she is now a whistle-blower exposing corruption here. the former mayor of darby borough has been colwyn's business manager for more than a year now. this morning county detectives seized more financial records from the colwyn borough hall. part of an ongoing investigation into how this tiny town's money has been spent by various public officials here. >> crazy. >> reporter: during a

chaotic borough council meeting last night a fashion of the council voted to fire borough manager paula brown who locked herself in the borough hall this morning saying she was ousted for cooperating with the corruption probe by gathering and protecting the reams of files going back years which she claims will show widespread misuse of public funds. >> there's been $1.1 million misappropriated funds in the last few years. so a lot of records inseed here and i have a duty to protect them. >> i hope the authorities step in. i hope somebody steps in, the d.a. the cid the state somebody. >> reporter: brown claims her firing was not valid because a four member majority took the vote after the meeting had been adjourned. also fired last night the borough's code enforcement director who claims his ouster was the result of a vendetta after he refused to be shake den down by a local elected official. >> he said you have a cushy job and if you want to keep that job, you know, i need

classmate connell harvey. the bo boy was recently diagnosed with leukemia. he's at children's hospital of philadelphia right now recovering from complications of a step infection. connell's brother says the prayers and support are lifting his spirits. >> reporter: what has this done for your brother. >> it's a lot better actually. we just saw him the other day. he's laughing a lot and he just moved up to a better floor. >> reporter:. >> at a mass in the boy's honor this morning his classmates donned connell strong t-shirts.

what were you doing at 21 years old? well, jordan spieth hopes to be celebrating more than just a big birthday. the golfer has a shot to become the youngest to ever win the masters. spieth is in line to do something not even tiger woods has accomplished. second round today tiger doing much better, much better dame on seven for birdie, got it. tiger two under for the tournament tied for 18th. spieth the best story at august today. he will be a senior in college instead he's knocking in shot after shot on 10 for birdie then spieth again on 13 for birdie. spieth is 14 under par the lowest score at the masters ever after two rounds. did i mention he's only 21 years old. well, what would a season in philadelphia be without a goalie controversy? and no we're not talking about the flyers goalie. there's drama in net for the union. the highest paid free agent goalie has been replaced by philadelphia native john mccarthy who started north catholic high school then lasalle.

atlantic city the sun trying to break through the clouds. the good news is we will get rid of these clouds in time for your weekend. the weekend is looking very nice. and the accuweather highlights will show you really the only downside to tomorrow with high pressure building in will get winds out of the northwest at about 12 to 25 miles an hour. so, future tracker showing 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon wind gusts around 20, 25 maybe even 30 miles per hour in the poconos. it will be a breezy day but remember last saturday. last saturday we had wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour. it won't be nearly as windy as last saturday. sunday the winds diminish and temperatures even a little bit warmer. tomorrow 62 degrees. future tracker showing 2 o'clock in the afternoon philadelphia up to 68 degrees. so, it's going to be one of those weekends you want to get outside. right now our winds have shifted out of the south. it's just too little too late. philadelphia 56. millville 62.

sea isle city 55. allentown 52. the poconos stuck in the 40's today, 49 degrees. satellite6 along with action radar showing the cold front is sweeping through central pennsylvania. here are just some clouds. you look to the south remember that cell i pointed out in richmond virginia there's a severe thunderstorm watch box with that now with hail and gusty winds. that's where the warm air was and that's actually what we would be dealing with tonight if we got some sunshine and if we had temperatures in the 70's. the good news is we don't have to deal with storms. could have a spotty shower mainly south of philadelphia as that cold front moves through. it will move through around 9 o'clock or so and then our skies will begin to clear. the overnight low 45 degrees in the cooler suburbs about 48 degrees for center city. so, not all that cool tonight. heading into the weekend this very broad area of high pressure builds in tomorrow. that brings us loads of sunshine, again breezy with winds up to 25 miles per hour. so, it will feel slightly cooler than that high of

62 degrees. if you're heading to the union game, it's looking really nice, though. we're seeing a lot of sunshine. at 4 o'clock it will be 61 degrees. by the 90th minute the end of the game 58 degrees. and then on sunday, temperatures up into the upper 60's and the winds diminish with high pressure right over us looks to be a beautiful spring weekend. so, the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, tomorrow breezy with a good amount of sunshine 62 degrees. sunday the pick of the weekend, 68. it gets even better on monday. another beautiful monday. 73 degrees but unfortunately looks to be another wet tuesday, a soaking rain arriving on tuesday 67 degrees. wednesday and thursday pretty decent. clouds and sun with a high of 70. and then on friday we cloud up with the possibility of some rain with a high of 67 degrees. so, today definitely a disappointment with the temperatures but the weekend should be beautiful. >> thank you, cecily. >> uh-huh. >> finally some young men and women in west philadelphia are ready to have a flight to remember this prom season. state representative vanessa
