county. winding brook drive and bristol road in bensalem. one of the ladderrer trucks has been perched above which looks like they're getting a handle on this one. this broke out about 5:00 a.m. about an hour ago. fire crews evacuated the structure. looks like everyone got out and it looks like at this point they prevented this fire from spreading to either side of this property. we'll keep you posted. >> all right, and to keep you poster on accuweather and traffic we go on over to dave murphy and matt pelman who is in for karen rogers. good morning. >> a little cool to start out this morning but winds are light and we are really seeing those clouds break up. you're going get some sun early. go ahead and take a look at satellite. the clouds starting to thin out a little bit across much of the region. they're high, they're thin and the sun is going to be able to get through. the rain from last night is gone. we've dipped to 49 degrees in philadelphia and we're at 45 in wilmington, 47 in millville and just below the 50-degree mark in trenton and as we roll through the day we're halfway through the week, kids.

49 on your storm tracker six app right now. up to 53 by 8 o'clock and then by noon 64 and by 3 o'clock 69 with a high today of 70. we'll probably hit that around 3:30 or 4 o'clock. matt pelman there are a couple can of chances of rain in the accuweather 7-day. i'll run that down for you and start looking ahead toward the weekend coming up. >> always good to be halfway through and getting over that hump on a wednesday. we like that. good morning to you david went like how things are looking this morning here on 76 the schuylkill expressway. didn't look this pleasant yesterday morning with that vehicle fire near here near girard avenue. this morning nothing like that. everything is opened and dry and ready for you. no issues either on the vine street expressway can which did remain opened last night but construction will continue tonight. so, expect closures starting around midnight. no problems so far on 95, just some dropping speeds. we're now down into the 40's by cottman and again through the work zone at girard. on the pennsylvania turnpike westbound still have that work near bensalem slowing us down a bit coming off the connector bridge and we've been telling you about the fire in bensalem along winding brook drive near

bristol road and that's where the presbyterian church s watch out for fire crews out there this morning. matt. >> thanks matt. new this morning a fast moving house fire injured two people in delaware. the action cam was on the scene late last night -- excuse me -- on the 100 block of south jackson street in wilmington. crews say the fire started in the kitchen. heavy smoke spread throughout the home and into a neighbor's house. a man and woman were treated for smoke inhalation. the fire has displaced two adults, two small children and two family dogs. philadelphia police are closer to solving the hit and run that claimed the life of a four-year-old boy. they say they have recovered the vehicle involved and the driver is expected to turn herself in as early as today. "action news" reporter annie mccormick is live at the police accident investigation division with more. annie. >> reporter: and, matt that's right police do have that suv that they do suspect in this deadly hit and run of that four-year-old boy. they said it is currently at a

police impound lot. now, they did get in contact with the driver of that vehicle through her attorney. her attorney is the one that is speaks to police and they are talking about a surrender like you said that could happen as early as today. this is the vehicle everyone has been looking for. it was captured on surveillance at 57th and litchfield monday suspected in the deadly hit and run. police released a description similar to this vehicle a black ford edge 2011 to 2014 model with distinct chrome lining under the window, chrome grille and smooth front with no plate holder. police say they found the suspected vehicle in a parking garage underneath love park. police say the 44-year-old darted into traffic and the video captured the impact that hurled the boy 15 feet down the road while he lay unconscious. police say the driver ran him over and sped off. tuesday evening a memorial in the boy's neighborhood near the scene grew. so many neighbors witnessed what happened. many have a message for the person responsible.

find the driver of this white car. it's believed to be a 2007 infiniti. happening today for 10 months the va benefits office here has been investigated and today we're going to find out what they uncovered. erin o'hearn is live in the satellite center. she's got a preview. good morning, erinism good morning, tam. a long time in the making. the report from the va inspector general is expected to reveal some disturbing conclusions after a sweeping investigation into allegations of shoddy recordkeeping poor working conditions and manipulation of benefit claims from the germantown office. congressional staffers have been briefed on the report but are not authorized to discuss it. after intense scrutiny va officials say the officers has addressed the deficiencies cited by internal investigators and a congressional committee has scheduled a hearing next week probing the allegations at the facility. the report was initially expected last fall but was delayed because employees continued to bring new complaints to investigators. at a congressional hearing

immediate regions so a light jacket probably not a bad idea. 49 in philadelphia, mid 40's in wilmington and dover and 40 on the nose in allentown, a bit of a cool start but we've certainly had worse. winds light dropping down out of the north and you see clouds really evacuating most of delaware and south jersey. most of what you see is high and thin and we're expecting that sun to do a pretty good number on those clouds and we'll wind up with a clouds and sun mix and fairly sunny for a good portion of the day. 68 up in allentown breezy but pretty mild. down the shore a little bit cooler right next to that cool ocean water a high of only about 63 but still pleasant enough the a-bit of a breeze dropping down out of the north today and in philadelphia, nice and mild later. we're going to go for a high of 70 a mix of clouds and sun breezy winds running north at 10 to 20 miles per hour. and here's how those temperatures are going to roll today. still kind of cool by 8 o'clock at 53 but by 11, a comfortable 62, great morning to get a walk in, maybe walk the dog or just do some

exercise. then by 2 o'clock 68 degrees and your high today is going to be 70 probably at about three:30 or 4:00 this afternoon before we dip back to 69 degrees by 5:00 so, beautiful afternoon for running errands or maybe just running. and then tomorrow we've got high pressure shifting off the coast. that's going to deliver a bit of a flow in off the coastline and that's going to cool us down. the high in philadelphia 64. but at the shore right along the water where that cool air is coming in off the ocean water you're probably stuck in the 50's tomorrow, okay, so a cooler day tomorrow. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, today warm, 70, clouds and sun not bad. tomorrow still nice but a little bit cooler with that high of 64. and then on friday clouds gather, 67 is your high and there is the chance of a couple spotty showers but it's not going to be a washout on friday, all right. saturday continues to improve. a lot warmer with a high of 67 degrees a mix -- excuse me, 76 degrees and a mix of clouds and sun very nice on saturday. and sunday still pleasant. we ease back to 67 degrees. that will be more clouds around and we do have to allow for a spotty afternoon shower

os and top of that roof looks you can like they've got it knocked down. it was a residential area. they have their hoses trained getting that fire knocked down but again chopper 6hd live over the scene here in bensalem bucks county. >> matt what's up with this car in the road. we just lost it. >> we're moving around. we're surveying the scene a little bit here and matt and tam. this is the schuylkill expressway. the schuylkill not cooperating once again this morning not so surprisingly. this is the accident scene westbound by gladwyne. a couple vehicles off to the side. we'll look closely and get the license plate that of particular vehicle but what you may have seen there was another vehicle in the left lane. that's what's really causing the hefty delay on the westbound side in a spot that would normally be jammed anyway. westbound side of the schuylkill expressway, good morning, friends, yeah, we're extra heavy now from the roosevelt boulevard on up to this point at gladwyne. we'll keep tabs on that. let's talk construction. northampton bucks county

worthington mill road going to close from eight until 3 o'clock by the advent lutheran pike and to the north at swamp road. you can use second street pike to get around that construction. this one in bristol they'll close 13 the bristol bypass between 413 by the wal-mart and bath road. otter street is a local alternate through bristol that can get you around that one. milling and paving work continues in moorestown burlington county along stan wick road close to allen middle school. stay up on westfield road to get around that one and in townsend delaware rat ledge road. >> police officer's daring attempt to stop a wrong way drive. he drove in front of the oncoming car on purpose. this happened in tempe arizona last month. police say that person in the car drove the wrong way on three different highways for 11 miles. she was charged with dui and reckless driving. >> it has not been the best

>> ♪♪ >> hillary clinton kicked off her campaign for president on a decidedly small scale. that was on purpose. clinton met way small group of iowaians yesterday. she said there are four goals to build an economy of tomorrow strengthen families, fix dysfunctional government ton protect the country from threats at home and abroad. new jersey governor chris christie took his presidential ambitions to new hampshire where he proposed dramatic changes in social security and medicare eligibility rules. christie said the social security retirement age should go up to 69 and medicare's eligibility age should eventually increase to 67. christie also wants to reduce and even eliminate social security benefits to more affluent retirees. we'll see how this plays. this is a group that talks and this is a group that doesn't like talk of changes to that

that means we're down to one lane on the westbound side of 76 which as you know is never a good thing. we're now looking at speeds like 8 miles per hour from approaching the roosevelt boulevard out to that accident scene at gladwyne so it looks like it's going to be another morning like yesterday morning with big delays on 76. you might want to think about using ridge avenue, ridge pike, route 23 conshohocken state road or route 30 lancaster avenue as some alternates. speeds also starting to trop although not quite that badly along 95. this is the southbound delay now in full effect from academy through this point at cottman again the betsy ross bridge into girard. still overnight construction on the westbound turnpike by bensalem. watch out for a right lane restriction and we have that fire location in bensalem along winding brook drive. it's in the neighborhood just off of bristol road. also watching a crash near schwenksville this morning along cross road at tyson road. tam. >> okay, thank you matt. developing overnight an arson investigation is under way in the logan section of

philadelphia. the action cam on the 1600 block of west nedro avenue just before 2 o'clock this morning. someone set fire to a second floor bedroom. one person is now in custody. his roommate suffered smoke inhalation and a trauma injury. he's in the hospital. also philadelphia police expect a woman to turn herself in as early as today. they say she hit and killed a little boy running him over as she fled the scene. "action news" reporter annie mccormick is live outside of police accident investigation division. good morning annie. >> reporter: good morning tam. and the investigators here at the accident investigation division have been working around the clock to try try and solve this case. at this point they tell us the suv they believe was involved in that deadly hit and run is impounded at a police lot. they're also in contact with the driver of that vehicle who they believe was behind the wheel at the time. they're in contact with her through her attorney and they do believe she could turn herself in as early as today. everyone was looking for this vehicle captured on

throughout the day. for now reporting live outside of the accident investigation division annie mccormick channel6 "action news." >> okay, annie, thank you for that. the fbi is now trying to run down a serial bank robber. there is a $10,000 reward for information leading to that arrest. 40-year-old rashon mitchell is wanted for four robberies in philadelphia and delaware county. three happened at td bank branches this past week. no one was hurt during any of the holdups. police hope to catch mitchell before he strikes again. >> dramatic video released showing how a police officer in arizona took out a man who was walking down the street way rifle. the department is backing up the daring way the officer put an end to a day long crime spree. "action news" reporter erin o'hearn is live at the big board with that video. erin. >> reporter: matt the armed man was walking down a crowded public street way rifle that he had allegedly just stolen from wal-mart. you can see him right here. this is a pretty public area. the dash cam video was released by police in tucson

and the police chief acknowledged that using a police cruiser to take down a suspect is not standard protocol but it may have prevented others from getting hurt. now, we have to warn you the video we're about to show you in this segment is extremely graphic as it shows the moment of impact. as we mentioned right before the incident surveillance video shows mario valencia stealing a 3030 rifle from a near why wal-mart a short time later this dash cam video shows officer dan rowan shadowing valencia as he walked down the street. at one point valencia fires the weapon but because it's a busy street police say a gun fight would have risked hurting other people and police body armor does not offer protection from this kind of rifle. watch screen right as officer michael rapico comes up and decides slaming into that suspect way 2-ton police car would be more effective and safer for the public than firing bullets. he slams into him who amazingly did survive the incident. valencia's lawyers say the officer offered no warning and

there was no attempt at engaging in a conversation to deescalate the situation. she claims her client was in distress and can be seen pointing the gun at his head and added that even though he had a gun he was no danger to the public. >> i find it ludicrous to say that we're saving this man's life who is suicidal by almost killing him. i mean, he could have died. it's miraculous that he didn't die given how hard he was hit. >> he comes around the corner. he knows several things, you know, that the guy is not obeying commands, the guy has a high powered rifle the guy has already cranked off one round and the guy is now very near to a heavily populated businesses. >> reporter: valencia's attorney also addd that her client made some suicidal statements but again, the video shows valencia firing that weapon in the air. the police chief standing by his belief that the use of a car to take down the suspect was safer than the officer firing a weapon. no charges have been filed yet

against that officer but really matt, these things are so hard because we don't know what's going going on in that suspect's mind. >> thanks erin. other recent officer takedowns prompted several protests against police brutality in the u.s. this new video from new york city where several demonstrators were arrested. in san francisco hundreds of marchers stormed city hall then tried to shut down a freeway. others blocked traffic downtown. the lapd arrested 15 people who had blocked a set of train tracks in los angeles. a total of 28 protests took place across the country. >> let's talk about the day we have coming 'cause it sounds great. >> it is going to be wonderful especially this afternoon and even this morning. storm tracker six live double scan first of all those shows you the rain from last night is is long gone. the great outdoors are pretty great with sunshine starting to help evaporate those high thin clouds and looks like we'll start out with a decent apartment of sunshine dan probably stay no worse than partly sunny as we move through the afternoon.

temperatures a little bit cool. 49 degrees right now some suburbs down into the low to mid 40's. but with winds only running out of the north at 6 miles per hour you throw on a light jacket and everything is good. here are the winds currently calm up in allentown right now but only at six in philadelphia and really not much higher than that. up in the poconos 13. the winds once the sun gets up over the horizon a bit more will start to mix down from the uner atmosphere and will get a little bit breezier but not horrible today. at the same time temperatures are going to rise as that air starts to cruise down out of the mountains descends and warms up a little bit. cloud cover out there but again high and thin enough to allow some sun in. here's the way temperatures are going to go. 53 degrees by 8 o'clock. of course we are going to see some sunshine and not just all cloudy skies there. 62 by 11 o'clock, 68 by o 2 o'clock your high 70 around 3 o'clock. so warm and very comfortable this afternoon. high temperatures pretty similar between allentown and philadelphia, only a couple of

degrees difference there. as you get closer to the shore you get into the mid 60's, maybe even low 60's in a couple can of spots next to that cool ocean water but generally speaking a pretty nice day ahead. then tomorrow high pressure off the coast a bit putting more of an on shore flow. that will bring cool air in off the ocean and knock that high temperature in philadelphia down to 54 and at the shore probably stuck in the 50's tomorrow but at least it will be dry on thursday. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, today no problems. 70 degrees, a mix of clouds and sun really good looking day. a little bit breezy but otherwise just fantastic. and then still nice tomorrow a high of 64 degrees, cooler at the shore. on friday mainly cloudy skies 67 is the high and there's the chance of a couple spotty passing showers not a washout on friday, though. and then saturday how about 76 degrees ahead of an approaching front we're going get a lot warmer, we'll see a mix of clouds and sun probably stays dry the way things look now and then sunday still pleasant with a high of 67 more clouds a-spotty shower is possible in the afternoon but you're mainly drive.

i wouldn't cancel outdoor plans. i think the union have a real good chance of being dry for that 5:00 p.m. game. later at night sunday though some steadier rain could arrive and then that spills into monday and monday looks cooler and cloudy and rainy with a high of 60. oh well. back up to 64 on tuesday with some sun returning. >> okay. >> oh, well. >> oh, well. thank you. it's 6:41. boston marks two years since the marathon bombing but one group of locals is not allowed to participate in memorial events. >> coming up all new police pursuit with some horsepower. matt. >> matt a crash just popped up here on 42 the freeway northbound side at creek road. police just pulled up to the scene. already it's causing a big delay and we have several of them on the schuylkill as well. we'll give you the details when "action news" continues on this wednesday morning.

>> 6:44. going all over the place this morning. following breaking news and now we are in trenton, new jersey where a chlorine leak has taken place at the water filtration plant along route 29 in trenton. chlorine is one of the chemicals they use to clean water there. building was evacuated. we saw some stretchers out there but no one on them. apparently no one has been injured but that trenton fire department remains on the scene for that chlorine leak at the filtration plant. >> let's go on over to matt pelman. it's that time of the morning when we see the roads getting heavier with the traffic. good morning. >> we're watching everything, watching a crash here on 42 this morning tam and matt in bellmawr camden county. it's on the northbound side

right here by creek road. you can see police and now a tow truck are on the scene but blocking that right center lane. so, this is a spot, of course, that would normally be busy headed up towards 295 and the walt whitman bridge. it's extra busy this morning as you come north of 41 through this point at creek road. more nj dot crews pulling up to the scene as we watch with that lane blocked things definitely extra crowded on northbound 42. we'll keep tabs on that. we've also been watching this accident scene along the schuylkill expressway. we've had not a lot of success this morning with good camera shots on this one but the bottom line is westbound on the schuylkill the crash is off to the side now. the speeds, though, still really slow. 8 miles per hour from approaching the boulevard out to that accident scene at gladwyne where you saw the pavement. 95 also has plenty of slow speeds just 15 miles per hour there by the betsy ross bridge same in the work zone at girard avenue. near schwenksville watching a crash along cross road at tyson road. we had one in north wales but

cleared pretty quickly on second street near the railroad tracks. construction worth in upper dublin they'll close welsh road near norristown road today and tomorrow from 9:00 until 3:00. steady use limekiln pike as an alternate. update in wilmington boxwood road eastbound reopening today but the westbound side is going to stay closed until after memorial day. >> no horseplay here. brand new dash cam video of police in hot pursuit of a suspect on a horse and this happened in the kentucky city of owens borough on monday. that man hopped on his pet horse and tried to get away. police eventually caught up with the fugitive. animal control is now caring for the horse. >> a judge threw the book at 10 of the 11 teachers convicted in the cheating scandal in atlanta. all but one received jail time some getting up to seven years. the teachers were convicted of changing answers on student tests to improve their school scores and most passed on a deal from prosecutors that

would have left them with a year of house arrest and probation because it meant that they would not be able to appeal those convictions. one of the convicted educators had a baby over the weekend and will be sentenced later. >> happening today boston will mark the second anniversary of the 2013 marathon bombings. the city is holding a moment of silence at 2:49 this afternoon when the first of two bombs exploded near the finish line two years ago. the attacks killed three people and injured more than two hung 60 others. a jury convicted dzhokhar tsarnaev of his involvement in the bombings and is awaiting the penalty phase. jurors have been warned to avoid anniversary events and this year's race which is on monday. >> 6:47 now. up next, a brand new consumer alert about a product used by millions of women in america.
