investigator says it's a suspicious death. and we'll have a live report for you coming up at 6:00. in other news, an oral surgeon is under arrest for feeding his wife's addiction by giving her illegal drugs. records show the wife used the drugs while caring for the couple's children. eva pilgram is outside of the office that is now closed tonight. >> reporter: the office is closed. it's locked up and there is no activity here all day, the dentist is in trouble for writing prescriptions for pain pills for his wife. this happened for ratting out an employee for snatching his prescription pad and writing her own prescriptions. when they talked to her they

found out what was going on inside. >> absolute oral surgery is not open as usual it's closed after the dentist here admitted to police that he wrote fraudulent prescriptions for pain pills. >> they were either directly for his wife or to staff members and the staff members would then get them filled and turn them over to his wife. >> rebecca who happens to be the sedation nurse for the practice that she also stole the very drug she was suppose to be using on patients. >> they were taking the fentanyl here and replacing it with saline so when they were suppose to be is he dated they were getting saline. >> she was shooting up at home while her four kids were in the

it happened monday night in the city's west kensington section, they are looking for this white infinity possibly with damage not front bumper and the right headlight, the woman mit was released from the hospital, her son david remains in critical condition if you know anything about this are you asked to call police. police in south philadelphia are looking for the men involved in a robbery at a gas station, it happened at the lukoil on columbia boulevard one man shot at a car while leaving the station and they got into a black chevy impala and drove on west garden street. police in princeton say that a man tried to lure a young boy into his vehicle while walking home from school. the man parked a gray minivan or suv on the curb and left the engine running, the man stood on

the sidewalk and approached the 11-year-old victim and motioned him to come toward hip and the child ran off. the police were called but the suspect got away. a teetering crane shut down a road in middlesex county the crane came close to tipping over after it drove off the road and the wheels sunk into the ground, emergency officials were called to the scene to investigate any potential fuel leak and they needed a crane to pull the stuck crane free. >> police arrested a man that landed his gyro copter on to the lawn of the u.s. capitol today. a robot bomb detector was sent in and nothing dangerous was found, the capitol visitors center was shut down for a short time. we'll have the latest including who the pilot is and what was

behind his stunt. turning to the forecast what a difference a day makes today, a real spring beauty out there, and lots of folks enjoying the temperatures here at fdr park in south philadelphia and tomorrow looks to be just as good, meteorologist, cecily tynan joins us outside with the accuweather details. >> another day and then a bump in the road on friday before sunshine returns for the weekend, but today what a gorgeous day. the high in philadelphia so far hitting 70 degrees and this is only the third time this year, with temperatures in the 70s, this past monday and the monday before that we hit 75 degrees, we did see more sunshine today and higher thinner clouds are beginning to thicken and still 70 and allentown 68 and wilmington 69 and millville 68 the e exception along the shore.

the sea breeze has a big impact temperatures there only in the mid to upper 50s. wind speeds showing it's breezy and winds 10 miles per hour in philadelphia, allentown 12 and lancaster 14 and millville 8 miles per hour winds because of the breeze and the low humidity there is an increased fire danger so tonight especially until 7:00 along i-95 corridor and west, where we didn't get much rain, you do want to be careful with open flames and cigarette butts because they can quickly start a brush fire. what is ahead tomorrow? a repeat performance of today more in the way of clouds and temperatures slightly cooler and friday we need the umbrella and it's damp and dreary and a splendid saturday and saturday we could experience something we haven't yet so far this year. >> thank you cecily.

former new england patriots star aaron hernandez will spend the rest of his life in prison for murder he was found guilty for the murder of odin lloyd back in 2013, lloyd was shot several times in the middle of the night in an industrial park near hernandez's massachusetts's home. this comes automatically with an appeal to the highest court. you'll hear from the jury coming up tonight on world news with david muir. back here tractor trailer philadelphia fire and police departments went before city council to present their annual budgets and the police department is in need of more funding to meet recommendations and keep up with crime fighting technology vernon odom is live outside of city hall with more tonight on that. >> reporter: good evening rick, it could take three years or more to fully outfit

philadelphia's 6,000 plus police officers with the body cameras. crime is enormous. police brass went through the budget hearing. commissioner ramsey wants 5% more from city hall and one member asked what the department is doing in the wake of the overuse of deadly force by philly cops, recommended reforms have already started. >> reality based is scenario driven and it's not just target practice, it's based on circumstances that the officer may be confronted with on the street and test their judgment. >> what about security and logistics planning for the visit in september no specifics offered in public any way. its not just police it's all the different city agencies all the

people participating in that and outside agencies participate in that and that will continue and become more frequent as we become closer. the diversity numbers are down for non-whites, the commissioner believes the video and questionable force is having an impact on the possible recruits. >> i don't have data to support that but it makes sense, you go through a period of time where the profession looking less attractive. if you have options you may kloos not to do that. >> the council sailed through the budget hearing presenting a spending plan 5% lower than the current one, controlled overtime they say. nearly all members of the city council are running for re-election this spring so none of them want to get into a dispute with the police the fire department or their powerful unions.

pink delivery for one family in texas. they had the first all girl quintuplets every born in the united states. danielle and adam welcomed the five girls last week at a houston hospital they were born at 28 weeks and the dumb did undergo fertility treatment and they thought they were having four girls and one embryo slit into twins and now the mom talks about eating for six. >> i had a 4500 calorie diet, that is laughable and i tried my best to try to do it. and coming from being feeling pretty fit having to eat 4500 calories a shock but any priority was the babies. >> the babies all need help breathing during their first week of life but they will generally healthy for preemys and they have one daughter named

is that the pollen is high, trees are the main culprit and mold spores are high, it's a tough time of year if you have allergies. i can certainly attest to that. you can see the clearing that is high pressure that is sinking down to the south and east and what this will do is bring us win off the ocean from the southeast, that means we'll see clouds and a little bid cooler and cloudy skies and seasonably cool and 46 degrees, allentown 37 and wilmington 44 and trenton 42 degrees, future tracker is showing as we head through the day we see winds again through the south-southeast. philadelphia 66 degrees and not quite as warm today and again along the coast with the ocean temperature still in the 40s, afternoon highs only climb into the 50s. quite a bit cooler at the shore again tomorrow just like today. the five-day at 5:00, looking

"action news" continues. >> hello again here is what is happening on "action news" tonight. a man on a political mission lands his gyro copter on the lawn of the u.s. capitol, we are live with the latest. dozens of officers and first responders are gearing up for a massive training exercise at independence mall and a battle is brewing over a school mascot some say offensive and some say the symbol of a long standing tradition. >> and from washington d.c., a pilot landed his gyro copter on the lawn of the u.s. capital late this afternoon. a man was sent in in full bomb gear and a robot. the pilot a post man says it's and act of civil disobedience. karen travers live with the details. >> reporter: hi rick, this was a

remarkable scene here at the u.s. capitol earlier today. that gyro copter landed behind me on the grass the west front of the capitol, an area familiar to most americans that is where the inaugurations take place every four years and you see kids sledding there in the winter time and the gyro copter was traveling slow and under 50 feet, that is important because it was not picked up by radar that is raising serious questions, what would have been do if this man was deemed to pose a violent threat. >> people started to panic and there was chaos a man said he was delivering a political message to congress and land tropical disturbance right there on the lawn, the capitol when on lock down and everything shut down. law enforcement officials brought in a robot to clear the scene and capitol police say one

man is in custody and charges are pending. the man piloting the gyro copter, was identified as a mailman that drove there from washington. >> i got a call last summer from a gentlemen that said i am going to commit an act of civil disobedience and i thought long and hard about this and how to make a show to bring a message to campaign finance reform. >> this is the latest of a string of incidents at the capitol. the capitol was an lockdown after a man shot himself a few blocks away after people flocked the national mall for the annual cherry blossom and a drone crashed on the lawn in the middle of the night the president and first lady were not there at the time, it turned out the man operating the drone was a government employee who admitted he was drinking when he

officer ramming a suspect with his vehicle firing into the air. the man was cleared of any wrong doing. world news will have more on the nation's marching against police brutality. you can watch it all at 6:30 following "action news" at 6:00. a former colwyn police officer accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and wounding her 15-year-old daughter will stand trial on first degree murder charges, he waived his preliminary hearing, and it was back on december 15th when he allegedly shot and killed valerie morrow and shot her daughter in the arm. he was then shot by morrow's husband a part-time officer in morton today he told the court perhaps. >> mr. morrow hit the intruder and the intruder went down in the hallway and mr. morrow unloaded his own weapon and realized the intruder was reloading, the only way to save

"action news." the philadelphia police department is creating a drill at 6 and and market tonight at 6:00 it involves a large scale operation with dozens of officers and emergency personnel it's only an exercise the public should not be alarmed. a new government report released shows that philadelphia's vetd rans affairs department is in need of a major overhaul investigators say that poor leadership and unreasonable policies led to unacceptable issues, it took over 150 days to respond. and they found please manipulated dates to make old claims look new and the va gave out duplicate payments in millions. and they will pleat to discuss the handling of claims.

a delaware high school is facing tough decisions about the future of the name of their mascot used since the 1930s. the feathers head dress and red skins part of conrad high school's tradition as long as we can remember. >> we modeled after the native americans that were here before the school it's nothing but respect. >> jeff and other conrad alumni wear their red skins pins and clothing with pride. >> never has there ever been any disrespect to red skins or any derogatory of red skins it's a feeling of pride and it's a shame that other people don't see that. >> but the retire the mascot committee made of up students and teachers and parents is looking to change the name because of its possible derogtory connotation what does it mean to use race as our mascot. >> if one person takes offense
