morning. storm tracker 6 live double scan a few pockets heavier in south jersey and dplompt and camden -- gloucester and camden counties. the rest of it in philadelphia, and areas east we have showers out to the west. storm tracker 6 live 3d we're dealing with early showers and later on when a cold front comes through we get a chance of a shower or rumble of thunder moving through. 56 degrees right now in philadelphia. 56 in allentown. 55 in millville. at least we can see it is nice and mild. salt -- satellite and radar showing how the rain moved in dealing with it in the morning hours. this afternoon high of 70. a peek of sunshine or two it's not too bad out there. wait until you hear tomorrow's forecast we're going in the upward direction.

[laughter]. we have an accident on the schuylkill expressway eastbound side near south street. they have it pushed off to the side. they have policen the scene. police there and people are tapping their brakes. one accident we're watching this morning. we're watching the closure of the westbound side of the vine street expressway. it is shut down between broad and the schuylkill expressway. there are the crews wrapping up their work. it should be out of there shortly, but for now, 676 westbound remains closed for the overnight construction. construction on i-95 by cottman they have restrictions there. we have a minor house fire in southwest philadelphia around 54th and kingsessing and paving work they are paving along the ridge ridge avenue and henry avenue in andora.

a serious accident in west oak lane intersection of 19th and west cheltenham avenue. the driver was trapped had to be extricated ogontz avenue and haynes street better bet for you. tacony-palmyra was up, now back down we're ready to go here as we kick off this friday morning. philadelphia police shot a man in frankford we learned new information about what drew officers to the scene in the first place and what they recovered after the gunfire. eva pilgrim is working this story from police headquarters, good morning eva. >> reporter: shots were fired in in frankford section police fired one shot sending a man to the hospital. two officers responded to the scene, a large crowd was at that

intersection when police arrived, those people began running. one man ran toward the officers carrying a gun with another tucked in his panels. >> we see the gun in his hand tells him to drop the gun he does not drop the gun the officer fired one shot, the individual was shot in the left leg, it was a glock 9-millimeter it holds 31 rounds and the male had a revolver. >> reporter: the suspect was taken to einstein for treatment. he is in stable condition. they found two shell casings at the original scene where they believe a shooting had taken place before police arrived. they are trying to piece together what happened and how the shots were fired. eva pilgrim channel 6 "action news." >> thank you for that. and they story is

developing police-involved shooting in lower potsgrove montgomery county. an officer shot a suspect who tried to hit a patrolman at a traffic stop. the injured officer was treated at the hospital. the suspect is still in the hospital. new this morning, "action news" has obtained new surveillance video of the striking car in the hit-and-run crash in west kensington that killed a 2-year-old boy. police are looking for this white infinity m with a broken headlight and front end damage. the car struck the child and his mother at master and lehigh avenue. friends and family gathered for a vigil. they remembered david alicia who died of his injuries.

his mother joe feen rivera has been released from the hospital. >> i would have pushed the kid off the way and jumped in front of the car for him. >> if you recognize the car police say was involved in the deadly hit-and-run contact police. within the last hour pope francis said he is considering a trip to cuba. if he does, it will be around the time of his trip to america in late september when the pope will preside over the world meeting of family in philadelphia. pope francis followed his predecessor in calling an end for u.s. travel and travel restrictions on cuba. authorities say a man traveled to syria to become a

terrorist and headed back to the u.s. to launch an attack. >> reporter: the fbi says this 23-year-old from columbus ohio returned from a terrorist training mission with a plan to do something big going to a texas military base to kill american soldiers execution style. he became a citizen last year and left ohio last april with a plane ticket to grease, but instead got off on a layover in turkey and slipped into syria where he joined an al qaeda affiliate training in explosives and hand to hand combat. mohammed flew back to the u.s. in june. >> the benefit of being an american means he has good paper. >> reporter: it's a travel pattern terrorism officials consider a chief concern as

americans are going to syria to fight with isis and al qaeda. just you last week fbi arrested another man from wisconsin who was caught in turkey before crossing into syria. and this woman from new york who was part of an online community aimed at recruiting women to travel overseas to join the terrorists groups. 180 americans are believed to have joined isis or al qaeda in syria or were arrested trying to to do so. abc correspondent pierre thomas will have a live report on "good morning america" after action. >> "action news" has obtained exclusive information on hazing allegation from st. joes. four women met with investigators yesterday. we've learned one of the

>> new video out of florida showing several high school students going on a joyride with a forklift. police say they broke into a middle school and adjoining business where they found the forklift and gave it a try. they found fire extinguishers and set off an alarm in the process. police caught them after they dropped the fire extinguishers in the wood. a baggage worker woke up in the baggage hole he called 911. i'm inside the plane it's moving in the air. get somebody to stop it. >> where are you in the plane? >> i'm inside the plane. >> the passengers on board heard the initial banging from beneath them. the passengers alerted the crew

and they made an emergency landings. a woman poked a fell passenger with a pen and woke him up because he was snorning. paramedics had to be called in to examine the man he is okay. the woman was accused of causing a disturbance and moved to another flight. a police-involved shooting in philadelphia puts a man in the hospital. we have two brazen bank robbers terrorizing anyone who gets in their way.
