of cheltenham at 19th. the cadillac plowed into a tree. the driver was trapped had to be extricated and taken to the hospital. the good news he is in stable condition. instead of cheltenham and 19th stick with ogontz and haines on friday morning. a philadelphia opened fire on a man who authorities approached the officer with a gun in hand. "action news" reporter eva pilgrim is live at police headquarters with the full story. >> reporter: police say not only did he have a gun in his hands but another gun tucked into his pants. that confrontation ended with police firing one shot and sending the man to the hospital. there was a large crowd at the intersection when police arrived, the people began running, one man ran toward the officers as we said carrying a

gun. >> two guns off the street, the revolver was fully loaded the glock 9-millimeter had a capacity of 31 rounds in it extended magazine. that suspect was danny to einstein for treatment where at last check he was in stable condition. police did find two shell casings at the original scene making them believe there was an original shooting. they are trying to piece together what happened and how the shots as with fired. eva pilgrim channel 6 "action news." >> thank you it's 5:04. new this morning smoke and flames damaged several stores in a camden county shopping center. crews were called to blackwood clementon road in lindenwald at 11:30. investigator are trying to figure out how this started. they believe the fire was centered near a nail salon nobody was hurt.

firefighters rescued someone from the north philadelphia row home. now police may want a road with him. the fire broke out on the 3500 block of north philip street. firefighters saved the resident trapped inside the second floor but inside the home, authorities found an illegal sawed off shotgun. fbi is on the hunt for armed bandits who struck three banks in the bit burger area. they believe they are may be former police or military officers, the way they holds their guns and their safety methods the command of the room indicate they are not typical robser. two of the robbers have pittsburgh act sentence. governor wolf was among the

more severe weather is heading toward tornado alley today. a woman faces charges after attacking a long island teacher. the teacher appears to be unconscious on the ground. police say a parent 34-year-old choked the veteran math teacher. several students kicked and punched the teacher lying on the ground. one was allegedly her 14 year niece who has been charged. the teacher is recovering at home. crews took 28,000 pounds of cocaine off the u.s. coast guard ship yesterday. navy crews from the u.s. an canada along with the coast guard ceased the drugs in 19 separate incidents near central and south america. phillies continue the series against washington. the phillies lost their 5th straight game dropping one to the nationals 5-2.
