>> good morning, it is 7:00 a.m., saturday, april 18. here's some of the stories we're following on "action news." philadelphia police make a quick arrest after two men are found, one hospitalized in critical condition. police search for women caught on cell phone video fighting in a center city store. plus, rebuilding a landmark bridge in montgomery and chester counties what you need to know before monday morning's commute. first, though, went know about the weather, david murphy is in for chris, it is outside it already looks amazing. >> reporter: it is it's a

beautiful morning and it's going to be a great afternoon eva. take a look at satellite, we had cloud cover overnight. it's filtering away to the south. we had fog at the shore area, but we expect it to be breaking up quickly. 57 degrees in philadelphia. 62 in washington. cooler in the upper elevations of western pennsylvania, pittsburgh 46 degrees. generally speaking the winds out of the west for at least a bit of today. should warm us up rather nicely. as we head into the afternoon around 4:00 p.m. we'll see a high of 7 # degrees, a couple of spots like urban centers. center city could hit 80. look at how far back and forth the average high that is, 65 degrees. we'll have a red-flag warning in

was hit by a romantic rival and lost her leg. "action news" was at the apartments on tremont street as they combed for clues a father and son were hospitalized for smoke, the firefighter was hospitalized for burns to his leg. two men were stabbed in logan. the action cam was on the scene. one victim was stabbed in the chest, he is in critical condition at einstein medical center. the other victim was stabbed in the face, he is out of the hospital, both men are in their 40s, investigators took a third plan into custody. so far no word what set all this off. about two dozen people were arrested in a child pornography crackdown that expand the five-county area. agents for the pennsylvania

attorney general's office carried out a day long raid for child predators. "action news" was there as they moved in. >> open the door right now. >> reporter: agents with the pennsylvania attorney general's office child predator units raided this home on bingham street before noon. their target, perez wanted for downloading child pornography. >> he had 25 files of child pornographying depicting a -- pornography depicting a little girl between 5 and 8 years old. >> reporter: we rode along. the raid completes a two week come minute -- culmination next 22 articles. >> that's the nice part of the

store it happened on the 1700 block of walnut street. police got multiple cars involving a fight involving a number of woman that were inside the store. officers got there but unable to catch up with anyone involved in the brawl. no customers inside were hurt. philadelphia police have made another arrest in last week's vicious gas station beating. surveillance video shows 7 people pile out of a minivan and pummel a homeless man with fists, feet a piece of wood and hammer. it happened at a sunoco at 5th an sommerville april 7. now kashia duggens has been arrested for attempted murder an other counts. the mayor of allen torn has announced he is running for the

u.s. senate. pulaski will compete with joe sestak to campaign against pat toomey in the fall. >> i think what people are upset with, what's happening in washington is the obstructionist attitude that's stopping progress from stopping. we need to get things done and change the culture that's occurring in washington, d.c. state democratic leaders are trying to recruit josh shapiro to run. all eyes are shifting to new hampshire in the race for the white house. potential republican nominees are there addressing a gop conference. marco rubio told the crowd that learning english is essential for anyone who wants to prosper.

new jersey governor chris christie pressed his plan to push back the age of eligibility for social security and medicare for future retirees. ten more potential candidates are expected to speak at the conference. hillary clinton will campaign in new hampshire on monday and tuesday. she is courting support for her economic plan. she will hold discussions with students educators and small business. mrs. clinton won the new hampshire primary in err first presidential bid in 2008. the struggle at the revel in atlantic city has taken another turn. last week the utility plant cut off service yesterday a temporary retraining order prohibits glen straub from

>> a suicide bombing overnight killed at least 30 people in afghanistan. more than 80 people were wounded in that attack. the victims were military personnel lined up to receive their monthly salaries. no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. isis militant have blamed responsibility for a deadly car bombing next to the u.s. consulate in iraq. three people were killed and five wounded in that attack. none of the casualties were

the delaware bay and the ocean a little bit on the shore communities. a little cooler down the shore. 79 degrees, lots of sunshine very warm, feeling like summer this afternoon. i could see a high of 80 in urban centers like center city. winds out of the west at # 6 to 12 miles per hour. so again not overall blustery. 77 is the 2:00 p.m. temperature. high of 79 hits at 3:30 or 4:00 p.m. dipping back to 78 by 5:00 p.m. if you have tee time, you picked a great day for it. 2:00 p.m., 77 degrees sunny skies and warm. we're encouraging you to put on sunscreen high near 80. all that sunshine will draw a lot of people out. but it's that time of year where a sunburn is possible. as we take a look at tomorrow, a couple of things will happen. the winds will come out of the

northeast and that cooler flow coming in will cool us down, we'll draw some of that cooler air from the ocean water and bring it in. you'll get moisture when you have the ocean flow. that will help us increase clouds as we go through the day. so sunday, increasing high clouds not too bad though, archdiocesan not only in philadelphia, but also in the evening for the union. they will play tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. looks like a cool evening but not bad. today, nice and warm, 79 is the high, lots of sunshine out there. tomorrow cooler with high clouds increasing as the day goes on, nice high of 64. 5:00 p.m. kickoff at ppl park, 65 is at the tart of the union match. -- at the start of the union match. monday, showers during the day 68 the high. 67 breezy and pleasant on tuesday, a slight chance of shower there. most of you stay dry.

>> reporter: good morning, again arc cool, but comfortable start with plenty of sunshine up over the horizon. in time northern and western suburbs, 40s low 50s in chester and center city and pretty much the same story in south jersey, 56 in avalon and 50s from hockessin in delaware. if you're out and about today you picked a good one. high of 78, some areas could hit 80. we'll be in for severe weather in the center portion of the county. if you're traveling out of town we have a chance of severe weather through wichita, dallas and the gulf coast. 60-mile an hour windy gusts and large hail not out of the question. a low chance of tornados, but we rule that out.

police think this may be the vehicle cruised in a horrific car crash that claimed a woman's leg. three people are hurt including a firefighter after a northeast apartment building goes up in flames. plus, big warmup! break out the shorts and sandal. dave you may not know this, this guy shows up every day by himself to play tennis at temple university. >> reporter: this is the perfect day to get out to play, because later this afternoon you'll be sweating. we have clouds shifting to the south. temperatures to start out cool 57 degrees in philadelphia. with winds calm across the region and just real light even where you are feeling it. it doesn't feel that uncomfortable at all. we're in the 40s in reading and 48 in allentown.

scene in fern rock where police think they have found the white durango that was used in a hit-and-run in tioga nicetown yesterday. that left a woman severely injured. police tell "action news" they received an anonymous tip. deedee spence lost her log after she was hit by a romantic rival on north 17 the street yesterday. walter perez has the details on the horrifying ordeal. >> reporter: family and friends of 24-year-old deedee spence said they cannot believe the circumstances that ended with her in the hospital with critical injuries. >> she ran her over, she ran her over. >> reporter: the same friends and family said they know who did it. they say deedee spence and a woman known as precious was employed in a bitter dispute over a man they both dated.

the woman waited for deedee spence to come outside her house on north 17th street. neighbors say they could hold the thing unfold. >> i heard a car rev up. i heard everybody scheming. >> reporter: the suspect drove on the sidewalk and drove over deedee spence and left her unconscious and badly injured. she came back and drove away. in a cruel twist of fate as mother stayed by her side in the ambulance, she left the stove on the home caught fire. >> she left the pot on, the whole house burned down because of that. now she has nothing. now she has nothing. this a catastrophe. >> reporter: the victim did undergo surgery she lost her leg and remains in critical condition this morning as of

right now no arrests in the case. anyone with information call philadelphia police. reporting from einstein, medical center. walter perez channel 6 "action news." >> this morning three people including a firefighter had to be taken to the hospital after an apartment fire in northeast philadelphia. the blaze broke out after 11:00 p.m. at the green terrace apartment in the 2200 block of tremont street. crews had to rescue a father an son from a second floor balcony. they were taken top hospital for smoke. a firefighter was taken to the hospital for minor burns to his legs. no word on what sparked the fire. a vigil was held for the little boy who was killed by a hit-and-run driver. they prayed for justice for david alleash i -- alcia. investigators think they know who is responsible for the deadly crash. they recovered the vehicle

yesterday, but the owner was not the one behind the wheel. a relative of the girlfriend borrowed the car and took off after the crash. >> our prayers are being answered in some way because justice is being served. you know, at the end of the day we'll get our justice for the baby. >> police have not publicly identified who they are looking for. a mother and her boyfriend from norwood delaware county have been charged with murder in the death of the woman's 2-year-old son mason hunt died february 3. the mother's boyfriend told police the boy died in the bathtub, but the medical examiner found that the child has been badly beaten to death. his mother has been charged with the murder. a former south jersey high school band director has been sentenced for sexually assaulting a student. 27-year-old jason konig received

concurrent five year prison sentences. he assaulted a 16-year-old female students twice in 2013. he was the school's band director at the time. he must register as a sex offender. former u.s. senate candidate and pennsylvania party favorite is firing back -- and tea party favorite is firing back at the federal election commission. it is alleged that she used $20,000 to pay rent and utility bills for her townhouse that was cruised as campaign headquarters. l.a. police have released this video of suge knight hitting two victims.

he has been ordered to stand trial on murder and attempted murder. his attorney said he was fleeing an ambush in january. from our new jersey newsroom the former atlantic city fire chief that was at the center of the pants dropping scandal will receive his 1,000-dollar a month retirement pension. he was put on leave following the march incident at the public safety buildings. he retired april 1 after searching 8 years as chief. moody's has downgraded new jersey's credit rating for pensions costs in the garden state. the governor and the legislature have sparred over the incident. despite the rating moody's calls

6 hours. apparently, because of a miss communication. the flight from kansas to denver had to be diverted to colorado st. patrick's because of bad weather. you can see the cell phone video showing passengers getting out of their seats to walk around. if you're sitting there for 6 hours. passengers say they were not allowed to get off the plane if they did, they would be left behind. >> a little bit of miscommunication between the pilots and the passengers stating that they are not allowed to taxi to the gate. that was not true. there was miscommunication on some end. >> passengers were finally put on a bus which took them to denver some 6 hours later. out west old man winter not going away quietly. whiteout conditions trapped scores of driver. 30 semi trucks and dozen cars

winds are rolling across delaware and lehigh valleys. satellite shows you there was cloud cover overnight it's receding to the south. anybody from north to south across our neck. of the woods are looking at early sunshine. 58 degrees by 8. 69 degrees by 11:00 a.m. 79 degrees is the high. probably around 3:30 or 4:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. you're sitting on 78 degrees. nice from start to finish today. high temperatures are toasty across the region, too. the even up in allentown we're going for 79. 80 in reading, center city hits 80, as well. down by the shore next to the cool ocean water you're a little cooler. 68 is the high in cape may. 65 inland at the airport in atlantic city. you're picking a great day if you're heading to the playground or anywheres outdoors, 69 degrees by 11:00 p.m. very comfortable there. warm in the afternoon.

2:00 p.m., getting sweaty, 77 degrees if you're heading out to do anything whether it's playing or gardening or walking around with highs near 80 lots of sun people being drawn outside don't forget the sunscreen. today is one of those days where you could pick up a burn. tomorrow we have the winds shifting out of the northeast coming in off the ocean as we roll through the day. while we start out with sunshine, future tracker 6 shows us the added moisture off the ocean will aid the development of some high clouds. it will be somewhat bright later in the day but a little bit cloudier as the day goes on. looks like that will be the story for the union too. high clouds filtering in during the game. light winds, it will be cooler because of the winds off the ocean. look for a game time temperature of 62 coming down from an afternoon high of 64 degrees, bundle up in a couple of layers. monday morning arrives so does the rain n form the morning
