it was a university is a -- fraternity event. students have been told to get inside, anyone who is not a student have been told to leave the campus, police are trying to sort out what led up to the shooting. a fire damaged a family home in mount holly new jersey. the fire started late last night during a barbecue on the back porch. flames spread to the wall up to the second floor of the home. the home was converted into apartments for the families, they are okay, the red cross is helping them out. st. joe's prep is mourning the loss of freshman football player ryan juliard who collapsed in front of his teammates. >> reporter: we spoke off camera with the father of ryan, he said

the teenager was simply a good kid and like so many he is waiting for autopsy results to find out how his son died. there was an emotional saturday on the campus of saint joseph's prep as football players parents and students grapple with the death of the young man. he collapsed in front of his teammates. his coaches ran to help, but they couldn't revive the teen. he was rushed to the nearby temple university hospital where he was pronounced dead. his grief stricken father told "action news" he was at the practice and the hospital when ryan died. he had no preexisting medical condition and has been playing football since third grade. st. joe's expressed condolences to the family of the

15-year-old. ryan was a great person and someone we were proud to have as part of our community. we'll do whatever we can to support his family and friends especially the members of the freshmen class and the football team of which he was a member. the coach and staff walked out after spending time with the players saturday. at the church on campus there's a private service scheduled for sunday morning to honor ryan. st. joe's said counselors will be on hand for students, faculty and staff on monday. kenneth moten channel 6 "action news." >> 20 years ago today terrorism rocked american soil 168 people were killed in the bombing of the federal buildings of oklahoma city. hundreds are forever scarred by the plot carried by an american

citizen. a memorial is planned for the victims in oklahoma city. >> reporter: good morning, to you, eva thousands are expected today to honor the 20th anniversary of an act of domestic terrorism that killed 168 people and changed this city for ever. it is often the first thing people think of when they hear oklahoma city. >> an explosion that happened at the federal court building in downtown oklahoma city. >> reporter: the explosion damaged 300 buildings in a 16 block radius and killed 168 people. >> the bombing in oklahoma maria city was an attack on innocent children and defenseless citizens. within days the two men behind the attack were behind bars. a oklahoma state trooper pulled

over timothy mcveigh 90 minutes after the i tack. he was recognized assist the bombing suspect his accomplice turned himself in. mcveigh was convicted abbey given the death penalty and and you telled in 2001. nickels was convicted and serving life in prison. in the years after the tragedy oklahoma city banded together to turn the tragedy into something positive. they built this solemn memorial on the site of the former federal building dedicate dedicated five years after the bombing took place. each victim is honored with a symbolic chair including 19 smaller chairs in honor of the children that died. the selfless actions that took after the bombing became knowns oklahoma standard.

organizers are asking everyone to recommit to that standard a principle that lives on two decades after terror ripped through this city. and a number of high profile speakers are expected today including the current director of the fbi and the current secretary of the department of homeland security. the keynote will be delivered by former president bill clinton who was in office at the time of the bombing. live from oklahoma city, i'm ryan nobles back to you. 59 degrees. a wildfire in california spread to 75 acres and threatened 200 homes. the wildfire is burning thick dry vegetation in the riverbed that hadn't burned in years. 255 firefighters and two helicopters and two air tankers are battling the blaze the cause has not been determined. a him or her saildz driver is hospital, -- a mercedes driver is hospitalized. the driver is expected to live he is being treated at jefferson university hospital. police have not said what caused the wreck. a dash cam video captured a close call for a female officer in new jersey. two officers rushed to the car the officers cut the victim's seat belt with the knife to free

the body camera after the shooting in ferguson, missouri. a 3-year-old girl was malled by this dog. the girl was being held by her 84-year-old grandmother. >> we're making the assertion that the dog go to jealous and the grandmother was holding the child and the dog attacked the child. the police rushed the little girl to children's hospital and taken into surgery. the girl's uncle owns the dog he was not at the home at the time. police say this appears tragedy nothing criminal. there was a funeral this weekend for a little boy killed by a hit and run driver. "action news" was invited to the greater bible temple church in west philadelphia. wilson dialed after running into traffic on monday night. police have made contact with

people on the delaware state campus we're developing details on "action news" sunday morning. police question a woman after taking off in an suv and serverring a romantic rival's leg. less go over to david murphy, yesterday it was hot. >> reporter: we got up to 81. first time we hit 80 since september. you're not used to it, that's true. as we look outside, we have sunshine out there, at the shore, high cloud cover overhead obscuring things a little bit. waiting for the fisherman to show up on the beach there. all we have is the light pole on the right side. satellite showing cloud cover rolling in the overnight hours it's high and thin, but it's there. it will get thicker as the day goes on. in the morning look for sun and the clouds getting thicker as we move through the afternoon. the wind have shifted out of the

university. the action cam was at the campus after gunfire left three people wounded. it happened at the fraternity cookout. the wounded are at the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. police are looking for suspects, students have been told to stay inside their dormitories. new this morning, a killer has gunned down a man inside a west philadelphia home. the action cam was on the scene shortly after 1:00 a.m. the 700 block of north preston street. the police say the victim was shot repeatedly. he was pronounced at the hospital, police have not indicated whether they have any motives or suspects. the action cam was on the scene after a car flipped over on east sandy ridge road in doylestown. the driver lost control and the vehicle landed on the roof.

two of the three people inside were thrown from the car. one is in critical condition the other two are in serious condition. so far no word on what caused the driver to lose control of the car. a love triangle ends with one woman mowing down the romantic rival the woman believed to be behind the gruesome hit-and-run is talking to philadelphia police. the victim's leg was severed. annie mccormick has the latest. >> reporter: saturday evening police drove a woman believed to be the suspect in friday's hit-and-run out of the 35th district. saturday morning, the victim's mother had this to say. >> all i want to do is get her ascertain see her in court. >> reporter: witnesses say this white suv driven by a woman identified as precious, mowed down deedee spence. the victim thought she was vying for her man.

>> she ran me over, mom and took my leg mom i wasn't even going with him. >> reporter: early saturday morning an anonymous tip led police to the discovery of the white dodge durango with front end damage. police believe the same suv caught on surveillance. >> i saw her coming 100 miles an hour, running up here. spenc etch -- spence's uncle was also hit they left the meal on the stove and the fire destroyed the home. earlier in the day on friday, they did have problems with the woman who was behind the wheel of the vehicle. they tell me she threw a brick at their home and they did file

a police report. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." >> bensalem police made an arrest in a child luring case, juan perez tried to get a girl into the car. he allegedly exposed himself to her. he drove away and crashed into a pole before captured. college students escape a burning bus in massachusetts. their desperation was caught on camera. >> reporter: 52 seniors from the university of connecticut scrambling to get out of a burning bulls running away to -- bus running way to a safe distance. moments before confusion inside the bus as smoke filled the cabin for the second time. the first time the bulls stopped the driver fixed the problem and the company telling the driver to keep going.

maybe you bring a couple of layers, i'll be down there dooping it up today. by the time i'm on the air at 4:30 we'll see rain beginning to build and heavier stuff coming in from the west. the morning commute looks wet with periods of time of heavy rain popping through. by 9:00 a.m. as the rush hour is done it's fairly welt, the main intense rain may be pushing toward the east. the rest of the day cloudy and damp with sprinkles and showers around, there's another chance of a shower later at night that could develop a thunderstorm. if that happens we could have thunderstorms that could produce gusty winds and hail. not a big chance of this, it's low, but again, that would be late in the day. that would be late in the day or the evening.

like many homeless he is frustrated when he is applying for services for help. >> catholic charities will help you. >> mind you we're homeless we don't have car fare to get anywhere. >> reporter: the city is homing a c center tarring chronically homeless sing adults. >> we'll assess an individual at the rescue mission and identified what they need to end their homelessness. anything that's not in the buildings there's transportation that will take them to the hep center, the board of social services. >> reporter: officials expect this to work, they used the same model to reduce family homelessness in mercer county. >> we want to house people not

students and staff showed off their creativity to ceramics and pen and personal designs. the annual arts fest made way for spur of the moment artwork. the room provided the little ones an opportunity to become a work of art themselves with a little face painting. children with special fleeldz are getting a play of their own playground in delaware county. the playground will have custom built equipment to give children with autism to have the sensory and social skills. donations for the autistic support playground can be made online. we'll put a link at 6abc.com. a veteran has his purple heart back, he hasn't seen it in decades. abc's news reporter, clayton sandel helped track it and get

it back. >> reporter: a purple heart is one of the most revered military honors. last week we bought one. at a military surplus store we wondered about the engraving on the back. i think he thought i was a tell marketer because when i called him he hung on me three times. we tracked down his brother who told us he with a captain in vietnam. wounded in combat awarded the purple heart but in the 70s it had gone missing. we traveled to over land park, kansas to pay him a visit. staff suffered a serious head wound during an attack. when his purple heart disappeared, are his wife bought him a new one, it wasn't the same. >> he would say that's not my purple heart. but we had the real thing. >> it's got my name on it. >> amazing.
