assigned to the 19th district. shot in his right arm while on duty. he was taken to penn presbyterian in stable condition he is recovering with his family at his side. >> we are very, very luck. >> reporter: lucky that 19th district officer daniel kostic survived after being shot in west philadelphia. last night around 10:15 the officer was on patrol with his partners around wilten and girard. they want to investigate a man inside a van for possible narcotics violation. >> they approached the male, the male backs up, they go to follow him and lose him. >> reporter: the officer caught up with him at 51st and master street, they had a brief discussion, daniel kostic on his bike. >> the male turns to him and i quote i don't want to have do this. he fires and strikes the officer

in the right arm. >> reporter: the officer strikes back. he was taken to hanheman hospital. a weapon was discovered at the scene. >> to have someone say something like that is highly unusual and fire at a police officer like that it makes you wonderful. >> reporter: police have not released the condition of the suspect, they are questioning a person of interest in this case. live at university city katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> developing this morning philadelphia police are still on the case of the shooting death of a chinese food delivery man. the 49-year-old man's car crashed at adams and bingham streets in crescentville section. he crashed after being shot in the shoulder at hill creek road. he was rushed to einstein and was pronounced dead there.

police are trying to finds if robbery was part of the shooting. we'll here from police on the investigation. people were on board the septa bus after a fire in the rear engine forced passengers and the driver to make an unscheduled stop. smoke and flames gutted the back half of the bulls. nobody was hurt. 5:35, now a beloved member of a south philadelphia neighborhood was killed by fire. it took crews ten minutes to knock down the flames on federal street yesterday evening. but they were unable to rescue the resident, joseph derossa. >> a former councilman was a close friend. >> he was the closest i had to
