the quake was so strong it was felt as far away as pakistan. damage has been reported in bangladesh. homes and centuries old temperatures have collapsed. there are reports of an avalanche at the base camp of mount everest. 150 people have been killed and 30 in other countries. dozens more injured. this is the worst tremor to hit the himalayan nation in 80 years. we'll continue to update you on "action news" an 6abc.com. back here in our area, a man was hit by a car in a shopping center parking lot in camden county. he was hit after walking out of the shop rite in lawn side. this happened along the 100 block of north white horse pike. the victim was taken to cooper university hospital in serious condition. the driver stopped police are sorting out if this was an

accident or a crime. well, philadelphia police are searching for a violent thief who attacked woman in south philadelphia. dann cuellar has details on the vicious attack. >> reporter: police say this was a vicious attack on a woman. she was walking home from the gym when suddenly her attacker comes up from behind and clocks her in the face and knocking her unconscious. police are hoping someone may recognize him from the surveillance footage. this is the man police are looking for captured on cameras near the area of the attack. take a look at the unique design of the hood of the jacket and the laces on the sneakers. >> bright red or orange laces in the sneakers and unique design on the hood of the jacket that appears to be camouflage. >> reporter: 8:40, the woman was walking home from the fitness gym in the 700 block of east passyunk on the 700 block of montrose near the 900 block of south 8th where she was punched in the face and knocked out cold. >> one of the witnesses was

the prosecution rested in the case of 6 former drug officers, they are accused of beating down drug deerlings -- dealers and lying in court to get convictions. a judge has sentenced the former head master of an elite prep school in wilmington. christopher wheeler was convicted of 25 counts of dealing in child pornography. he was the head master at the tower hill school. happening today protesters in baltimore are promising the biggest march yet on the city streets, they say stowed's manner will shut -- today's march will shut down the city. the city is simmering over the death of freddie gray who died staining a spinal injury. baltimore police admitted in the

philadelphia police are investigating an overnight shooting in juniata. officers found blood and shell casings behind the home on the 4900 morocco of castor avenue. investigators went to einstein medical center to talk to a man who showed up with a gunshot wound to the hand. no arrests. police are questioning two people after a military veteran and his girlfriend were victimized. police say it was an elaborate scheme to get rental cars. annie mccormick has the details. >> reporter: southwest detectives are making a lot of progress in the bizarre scheme saying a trio of women kidnapped a man and his girlfriend so they can rent cars and open a bank account unders name. two people were taken into custody by pennsylvania state police after they were found in

a rental car near belmont mansion and montgomery. [inaudible]. >> reporter: 55-year-old priscilla jones does not know the trio of women with the small child who allegedly abducted her and her 86-year-old boyfriend george saunders, a korean war vet. they are new to the southwest philadelphia neighborhood. they were on a walk thursday morning when a gray town and country pulled up next to them. >> the driver asked if they needed a ride they say no. the driver gets out and tells them to get into with the insistence with a female in the car. >> reporter: this woman took the veteran inside this td bank saying he was her father to open a debit car. she puts $600 of her own money

into the account and goes to this rental car company and rented a car. the women driving in separate cars at high speed go to this rent car on bartram road renting a truck in saunders name. finally around 5:00 p.m. they drop the couple off at home. >> the motivation was to rent the cars to use them for criminal activity. >> reporter: even though they were unarmed police say they pray on the elderly and master manipulators. >> i would tell anybody don't stop and the first policeman you see, tell him keep yourself out of trouble. >> reporter: the other car was found in cranbury, new jersey. they've charged with receiving
