her children. she may have gone too far. >> good morning, david murphy is here with matt pellman good morning. >> reporter: good morning, satellite and radar is showing clouds sweeping through to the north, temperatures are on the cool side, but not too bad. 50 in philadelphia. 45 in allentown. 40 in millville. 46 in sea isle city, a little bit breezy, but not too bad breeze-wise either, just yet. if you're catching the bus 46 degrees at 6:00, 49 at 8:00. the number turns around to a degree, but we'll be below average and at 3:00 p.m., 6 # degrees and we climb. there's a chance of spotty afternoon showers here or there. they don't look that heavy in most cases. in terms of of the pollen count that will run high and ease back into the medium range in the

street road in bensalem. watch out for restrictions. >> officials have just announced that the death toll from this weekend's earthquake has soared past 3700 people. the devastation you see behind us is incredible and awful to see. rescue workers are having trouble reaching the devastated village also. it's not unusual for the entire villages to be buried. >> reporter: tens of thousands of sleeping in the streets or in make-shift tents as the death toll climbs from the earthquake that rimmed across the himalayan nation. katmandu is i am passable. rescuers and aid workers are coming from as far as virginia. we're getting people who are extricated from the rubble and

handed over to qualified care. >> the earth is moving, everybody is running through the streets. >> reporter: authorities warn the worst damage and higher casualties might be in the vulnerable mountain villages rescuers are struggling to reached. beyond katmandu ancient temples and cultural gems are ruined. on mount everest climbers struggle to stay alive. the structure of the mountain as changed. >> reporter: the quake dislodged tons of snow. one of the climbers posted this video of the moment when the earthquake hit. three americans were killed.

an american military plane is on the way to nepal with tons of supplies for relief and teams of experts. >> the american red cross is mounting an international response to the earthquake they have committed $300,000. if you would like to donate head to 6abc.com. we have a link to the red cross save the children donation page. local families with relatives in nepal are reacting to the news of the earthquake. four students from muhlenberg college from the lehigh valley studying in nepal are safe. >> a philadelphia mother is facing charges authorities she punished four children by locking them in time basement. katherine scott is live outside the special victims units with more on the story. good morning katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam police say this was a punishment that the woman locked her four children in the basement with no

access to a bathroom or food for more than 12 hours over the weekend. she was taken to the special victims unit for questioning her children were taken to saint christophers for evaluation. the detectives at the home on the 1900 block of east atlantic street on sunday investigating. the siblings are between 9 and 13 years old. one of the trapped children was able to call 911 around 1:30 sunday afternoon. firefighters climbed through the second floor bedroom and opened the door for police who were able to get into the basement. a friend of the victim said she saw the mother and daughter arguing saturday afternoon neighbors were stunned. >> it's a shame. i love kids, i have two of my own, i can never imagine the kids being in this situation regardless, it breaks my heart. >> reporter: authorities were trying to work out who the

children would be staying with for the time being. the woman's name has not been released. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> detectives have descriptions of five men all wanted in connection with the shooting in the frankford section. the shooting victim was discovered lying on the 4700 block of dara street he suffered several gun shot wounds to the which i know, neck and back and rushed to the temple university hospital. no word on his identity or possible motive. happening today freddie gray will be laid to rest, he died from a spinal cord injury suffered at the hands of the police. gray's death is still under investigation. the 6 police officers involved in his arrest on april 12 have been suspended. >> they are extremely upset obviously they are frustrated and they want answers from the police department, but right now

their primary concern is burying freddie gray. >> gray's family is calling for calm after the protest are erupted into violence. fans inside camden yard were told me to remain inside until further notice. police arrested 34 people. the colorado massacre trial begins today. james holmes attorney acknowledge he killed 12 people and wounded 7 others in 2012, but claim he was in the midst of a sigh cockic episode. holmes has pleaded not guilty by reason of snainlt. insanity, if he is found sane he could get the death penalty. supreme court will hear arguments tomorrow

how are we starting off the workweek? >> reporter: a little bit cool but dry. storm tracker 6 live shows you we have no precipitation out there, as we look at the great outdoors not too shabby, there's our temple university camera looking down broad street. temperatures are cooler this morning. 49 degrees in philadelphia. we'll go down a few degrees from that over the next couple of hours before we turn it around. winds are light at 6 miles per hour. single digit winds across the region for now. future tracker 6 shows we have a breeze out of the north and even though we start out sunny clouds filter in during the lunchtime. the morning will care dry kids, no need for an umbrella or rain gear. by 3:00 p.m. in the northern suburbs there could spotty showers popping through and that is also an issue we go through the evening commute. it's pinwheeling around a low

pressure area in the north, it will increase clouds and give us a brush of showers for 6 or 7 hours. by 9:00 p.m. we're dry and starting to clear out again. temperatures, 49 degrees by 8:00 a.m. 56 cool by 11:00. 2:00 p.m., 62, a high of 63 which is a few degrees below average, but not too bad. there will be a breeze blowing at 10 to 20 miles per hour. as we look at high temperatures, 60 in allentown and close to the same? reading. 58 in lancaster. down the shore mid to upper 50s, a little bit cool and showers in the afternoon. the system that gives us the showers pushes away a little bit, high pressure comes in from the north an we get sunshine. tomorrow we'll be a little bit milder and looking nicer overall when the exception of a little

stocks finish higher on good corporate earnings on friday. right now futures are pointing to mixed open. apple is looking for quarterly results due out today driven by iphone sales. investors will look at how the apple watch is selling. it is predicted that 1 million watches shimmed and 2 million going out in the next two months. >> more news is still ahead including what we know about a deadly cash on a new jersey interstate. a kindergarten concert was interrupted by an odd protest details of what's going on here when "action news" comes right back.

in trevose bucks county a ruptured fuel tank on a tractor-trailer at street road and reading avenue. watch out for that. hamilton township atlantic county another crash that knocked out the power along harding highway at 32nd street. camden county a work zone at 168 collins avenue, and one past 295 restrictions in both those spots until 6. two young women were killed and three injured on a a crash on i295 in gloucester county. it happened near mile post 17 the deceased was the driver, gentleman's minute gonzalez of pennsauken and her passenger. it is not known how the crash happened or the conditions of those injured. police are still investigating. happening today the

defense will begin the witnesses in the penalty phase of the boston marathon bombing trial. the jury convicted him of all federal charges against him. the bombing killed 3 spectators and wounded 260 others. prosecutors argued that dzhokhar tsarnaev feels no remorals for the attacks. the defense is trying to save him from a death sentence. loretta lynch will be sworn in as attorney general of the united states. shell replace eric holder who served the first 6 years of the obama administration. lynch will be the first african-american woman to lead the justice department. >> 4:53. still ahead, two are dead and a coast guard search is still underway for survivors after a sailing event down south turned into a tragedy. >> gray's anatomy shocked fans
