to the north we'll squeeze out more sunshine before we get more cloud cover. 48 degrees in philadelphia. the 43 in reading and wilmington. 46 in sea isle city. the winds are out of the northwest, but light to start out. as we head out the door to catch the bus we'll be up to 50 degrees by 8:00 a.m. partly cloudy on the cool side. as we roll through the day, it will be a little below average. 58 degrees by noon, 3:00 p.m. 63 that's the high at 3:00 p.m. we'll be back down to 60 by 6:00 p.m. notice that there are a couple of spotty showers possible really anytime after lunch and straight into the evening, but they are going to be pretty widespread and pretty light for the most partly, the way things are looking now. also matt, the pollen count is running high today. what about roads? >> reporter: roads are not too bad on monday morning, this is the way we like to start the

week david. as we look live at the vine street expressway, light construction and light volume. headlights are coming eastbound through the construction pattern, but moving fine, i-95 through the great northeast no extra construction, moving well in both directions. heading into bucks county on the turnpike, construction taking out the right lane. we have a ruptured fuel tank on a truck street road bensalem. we have a crash that knocked out the power in the area, a bunch of traffic lights are out along 40. if you're heading to william davies school, that might be an issue. the center bridge over rancocas creek is blocked indently. they found problems with the

bridge. 295 or 130 as the alternates as you head out on this monday morning. >> new this morning a fast-moving fire damaged a house in north philadelphia. a quick thinking neighbor helped save the family. this broke out at north 18th street at 2:00 a.m. a neighbor smelled smoke and saw the house on fire and helped a man and woman escape. a young boy suffered smoke and needed oxygen at the scene. no word on a cause. philadelphia police rescued four young children from the basement from a home in the kensington section. police say their mother locked them down there as a punishment. katherine scott has more. >> reporter: matt, the mother was brought to special victims unit for questioning. the children showed no visible signs of injuries. they were taken to saint christopher's hospital for

evaluation. >> i'm surprised and shocked. >> reporter: surprised to hear that their neighbor would lock their children in the basement for 12 hours. detectives were called to the scene on the 1900 block of east atlantic street. >> she also quiet, kids come out and play all the time. never did i see her disciplining her kids in front of anybody. >> one of the trapped children called 911 around 1:30. investigators say the mother locked them in the basement with no food and no access to a bathroom. firefighters climbed through a second floor bedroom and opened the door for the police who got into the basement. they discovered a 1-year-old -- 13-year-old boy and sisters age 9 and 10 and 9-year-old brother. a friend reported seeing the mother and daughter arguing on saturday afternoon. >> i was like what type of person does this to your kids.

>> reporter: the neighbor said the alleged accidents are out of character for the single working most of them. >> if it is true, she made a mistake and needs counseling. >> reporter: as to whether something like this happened to the children. that remains under investigation. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> developing this morning the number of those confirmed dead from saturday's earthquake in nepal has soared to 3700 people. rescue workers are struggling to reach survivors. >> reporter: when you look at the rubble behind us you can see what they are digging through. the magnitude 7.8 earthquake triggered an avalanche on mount everest. it sent people at the base camp running for their lives. rescue teams are heading toward

nepal. >> right now the distance is killing me. conducting my normal life when everything is crazy around there. it's helpless. at least three americans are confirmed dead including a doctor at the base camp, marisa eve girawong, four students are safe, howell posted on facebook his path to cat -- katmandu is blocked. two people were found dead after a sailboat regatta. driving rain and winds hit before the regatta was supposed to start flipping boats and leaving many struggling in the

water. 18-year-old jameer bullard was walking with a friend along mechanic street when someone opened fire. he pushed himself to safety and realized he had been shot. he died at cooper university hospital. he was a linebacker and running back at woodrow wilson high school. his family said he had dozens of college offers including one from temple university. a philadelphia congregation remembered a long time neighborhood friend who lost his life to senseless violence. the african church in overbrook held a special service for james stuhlman who was shot and killed while walking his dog last month. three teenagers are in custody facing the charge of killing him. >> david murphy is here with

accuweather. >> reporter: storm tracker 6 live double scan shows us we're starting out dry, as we look outside, not too bad out there. the airport is dry not are a whole lot of wind, so the camera is not bouncing around all that much. generally speaking we're starting out fine if you have a little coat to grab. 43 in wilmington, 46 in allentown, 46 in millville and down the shore at this early hour. we'll see sunshine early, bus stop the clouds thicken up by noon. dry across the region, but as we get into the afternoon there will be showers pinwheeling around the area of low pressure off to the north. these could during the afternoon between 3 and 6:00 p.m. hinder a couple of spots. theythese do not look all that steady for the most part, but they are spotty. keep the umbrella around just in case. at 9:00 p.m. they are out of here and beginning to clear out.
