[laughter] >> reporter: you can see how satellite is pinwheeling up near albany. we have cloud cover overhead with sunshine breaking through by the way studio folks there's no clicker on the terrace. somebody on the weekend made a boo boo. if you could advance this that would be great. we're looking at 63 degrees is the high this afternoon. there's a chance the precipitation up north a spotty shower starts to build down during the afternoon hours. when i step inside in a little bit matt pellman we'll be talking about how the temperatures are staying cool today, but rebounding over the next couple of days, i'll have that story for you in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast.

okay? >> reporter: okay. >> reporter: remember how we were not complaining earlier this morning about the traffic? that has ended. we have a couple of big problems including on the boulevard. route 1 northbound blocking the traffic. it's approaching broad street you can see the backlog spilling back toward wissahickon after. the northbound side of the boulevard is not where you want to head. use hunting park avenue or northbound lincoln drive for your alternates. northbound side of the boulevard approaching broad street both lanes blocked as they work on clearing out an accident. we had an accident on the pennsylvania turnpike westbound approaching willow grove, a tractor-trailer climed -- clipped a vehicle all westbound lanes open toward fort washington. in mount airy a minor apartment buildings fire avoid upsal street. you mate want to stay on washington lane as the

alternate. big problems cropped up in delco, i-95 northbound side approaching curlin street by the commodor barry bridge, a crash is tairking out the two -- a taking out the two left lanes you know the right lane is squeezing by, it is a really slow go as we watch penndot and tow trucks arrive on the scene. we'll keep watching this and the boulevard in just a few minutes. >> a quick-thinking neighbor helped save family from a fire in north philadelphia. it broke out on north 18th street at 2:00 a.m. a neighbor smelled smoke and saw the house was on fire. a young boy needed oxygen at the scene. no word on a cause. philadelphia police rescued four young children from a basement in the home in the kensington section. police say their mother locked them down there as punishment.

katherine scott is live at the special victims unit in hunting park. >> reporter: the mother was brought here for questioning. the children showed no visible signs of injury. >> i am surprised and shocked she would make such a bad judgment. >> reporter: surprise the that the neighbor locked her four children in the basement for 12 hours. the detectives were called to the 1900 block of east atlantic street. she is quiet the kids come out and play all the time. never did i see her disciplining her kids in front of anybody. >> reporter: one of the trapped children called 911. investigators say the mother locked them in the basement saturday night with no food or access to the bathroom. firefighters climbed through a second floor bedroom and opened the door for police who got in the basement. they discovered a 13-year-old boy and sisters age 12 and 10

and 9-year-old brother. they are hungry and frightened. reports of seeing a mother and daughter arguing on saturday afternoon. >> i was like what type of person does this to your kids. >> reporter: a neighbor said these alleged actions are out of character for the single working mom. >> it is true, i feel she made a mistake and needs to get counseling. is to weather something like this happen before, police say it remains under investigation. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> thank you catherine. developing this morning, number of dead from the earthquake in nepal has soared to 3700 people. rescue workers are struggling to get to survivors. the earthquake triggered an avalanche on mount everest. this video shows the climbers

mechanic street early saturday morning when somebody opened fire. he pushed his friend to safety and realized he was shot. he died at the cooper university hospital. his family said he had dozens of college offers including one from temple university. >> 6:07. ford is recalling hundreds of thousands of cars for a potentially deadly problem. maribel aber has more on why they are taking this move. >> reporter: good morning, tam ford is recalling 400,000 cars because of the doors could fly open while the car is being driven. the problem is with a faulty door last month on some models, force fiesta and fusions and lincoln mkd distance. there's been complaints where doors have flown open while the

as we look outside not a bad morning, the sun is up bright. over by the shore there's not a lot of cloud cover. as we go through the day we'll call it a mix of clouds and sun 49 degrees in philadelphia. some of the suburbs are cooler than that. winds are picking up we're up to 9 miles per hour in philadelphia which is the highest speed we've seen so far this morning. we'll average a 10 to 20-mile an hour winds through the day. we'll see early sunshine. as we get into the afternoon the clouds will filter in more. afternoon will be on the look out for sprinkles and showers to build through. by 3:00 p.m., the model has these in the northern and western suburbs although we'll allow for one here or there closer to philadelphia. in the evening a few more pop through. this is not an inundateing washout kind of rain. by 8:00 p.m. or #-- 9:00 p.m.

they will melt away and we'll see clearing. we spend the afternoon in the low 60s we'll wind up about 5 degrees below average not too bad. we have to dodge the little spotty showers. 63 in philadelphia. 60 in allentown. the high is 61 in reading and trenton. 58 in lancaster and down the shore we'll be stuck in the low -- excuse me the mid to upper 50s today. everybody has the chance of a spotty shower overall you're looking at a mix of clouds and sun. the area of low pressure that's circulating the sprinkles showers through the day pushes away from us. the high will be far enough away to allow a breeze to blow through the region. with the sun coming out nice and bright we'll raise the temperatures a bit, overall it will be a much better day. today, 63, clouds and sunny breaks, a spotty shower can't be ruled out. sunny and milder high of 69.

>> welcome back you're taking a live look here, i-95 northbound in delaware county, we've been watching the aftermath of a crash here, matt pellman has had his eye on this one and letting us know what's going on what it means for the commute. >> reporter: things are rapidly going downhill, that's i-95 in delco, there's emergency crews on the scene hopefully indicating it won't be out here for too long. the pick up truck is facing the wrong way on northbound side i-95 by the commodor barry bridge as you head toward curlin street. two of the three lanes are blocked. just that right lane is squeezing by in this normally busy spot. that's not going to bode so well as we look live at the delay that's formed on i-95 this traffic is not going anywhere at the moment heading toward the

accident scene by the commodor barry bridge. you might want to stay local chester, 291 is a possible alternate. the boulevard and he thinks closing the northbound lanes of route 1 blocked for 15 or 20 minutes. the scene is approaching broad street. you can see the emergency crews that remain on the scene. actually i see a cargoing by. hopefully we'll see traffic moving. for the most part they have been blocking the northbound side of one entirely. hunting park avenue or northbound lincoln drive could be alternates. now we're getting word of a box truck fire lower providence montgomery county closing south park avenue. stay on egypt road to get around that. we're watching construction in king of prussia 8 to 4:00 p.m. each day they will close weedily road between cruise and gulf and

half-hour because of signal issues. >> reporter: matt, we're in the mid to upper 40s across the region. by 9:00 a.m. 51 degrees clouds and sun. 58 by noon, the high will be 63. it will be breezy through most of the day with a ten to 20-mile an hour wind there's a chance of spotty springfuls and showers especially after lunch into the afternoon and early evening hours. that doesn't look like to be anything more than spotty nuisance precipitation. looking across the country we have thunderstorms between it was and houston and cloud cover along the gulf coast and shower in northern florida and the showers pinwheeling around the low pressure in the northeast. best chance of severe weather appears to be along the gulf coast close to where we're seeing it right now near houston and new orleans miami a slight chance of gusty wind and hail. smaller chance of the hail.
