rioters hurled bricks and roxanne anything that they could pick up at police. law men broke formation and shields in hand had a hasty retreat. fifteen law men have been injured in baltimore today and tonight. monday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is the city of baltimore erupt nothing violence in the wake of freddie gray's funeral. police after rested 27 rye yeters today. protesters have set up a police car a police van and even a cvs pharmacy on fire. and that fire was set after looters ransacked the place. officials say that the violence erupted at the mannedoman mall, a shopping area northwest of downtown and also location of the main bus depot used by students. in fact, the unrest broke out just after school let out. this all happened after 2500 people gathered at baltimore shiloh baptist church for funeral services for freddie

gray. he was the in man who died while in police custody last weekend after suffering a mysterious injuries that resulted in a severed spine. eric garner's daughter erika was there and the reverend jesse jackson, but it was the reverend jamal bryant who eulogized gray and said gray's death would spur further protests and he urged the audience to join. outside the streets of one baltimore neighborhood became tense and broke out in confrontations between protesters and police. miles from the scene of unrest today a huge fire erupted tonight in east baltimore. officials a say that the flames destroyed a church owned senior center that was under construction. officials are not saying that the blaze was connected to the rioting. the the new attorney general loretta lynch condemned rioting saying those who have destroyed property have done a

disservice to gray's family. the governor of maryland has declared a state of emergency and called in the national guard on the request of the mayor. schools in baltimore will not be opened tomorrow. the violent clashes began just before 3:00 o'clock this afternoon at the mall. another hot spot was the at north and pennsylvania avenue, several blocks south east of there. even though orioles game was cans they had evening due to security concerns the the rioting was far removed from camden yard and baltimore's inner harbor more familiar to tourist of the city. fires burning out of control. we have also seen police, on guard, ready to respond. baltimore's mayor says that every resource will be deployed to gainful control of this city. the city of baltimore is on high alert just 3 miles away from the looting and destruction of businesses. baltimore's mayor announced a one week curfew, 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. police say riots in the northwest part of the city started with a group of teens vowing vengeance for 25 year-old freddie gray who died in police custody a week ago. >> too many people spent generations building up this city for it to be destroyed by thugs. >> reporter: police vehicles were set on fire and more than a dozen officers were injured prompting a state response. >> i had a long discussion with the president about this this evening. he supports our actions 100 percent. we talk about the fact that we have to find, have been believes we need to get to the answers and resolve this situation and the concern that

jack and barrett hebrew academy in radnor. police say ivan moore a former kitchen worker stab another worker and threw bleach in his face. moore got away and arrested after hopping on a septa train. the the victim remains in the hospital in serious condition. we are beginning to hear from the climbers who survived the avalanche at the base of mount everest over the weekend. said one mountaineer who has reach the summit, 17 times nothing like this has ever happened before. this is a huge, huge avalanche, he tells a new york times. eighteen people were killed in and around the base camp including four americans. meanwhile down below in the city of cottman do rescue teams continue to search for survivors. the death toll from the earthquake has gone past 4,000. the the united states has pledged an additional nine million-dollar in relief. a local couple in hatboro has a very close connection to the situation in nepal.
