>> good morning, it is 7:00 a.m. on this sunday, may 3. runners are warming up for the blue cross broad street run. the weather will be warm for their push to the navy yard we're live. >> a mother and son are injured in a fire in camden, details on their efforts to get out alive. >> floyd mayweather wins the biggest boxing match of the year. the details on the fight of the century just ahead. outside we go to meteorologist chris sowers with the accuweather forecast. everybody will want to get outside today. >> reporter: no excuses today. yesterday was nice, today is better. we'll be in the 70s and low 80s. no humidity out here, the sun is shining brightly. we're above from where he we where

we should be for this time of the year. levittown, 44. south jersey, gandys beach 53 degrees. glassboro, 45. cinnaminson, 44. satellite and radar it should be smooth sailing for the runners, the broad street runners. maybe if you're not a big fan of running in the sun wear a hat and put on sunscreen. otherwise perfection conditions out here. 10:00 a.m. 65. by lunchtime we're sitting at 75 degrees with a lot of the sunshine out there. we're forecasting a high of 80 degrees which would be only the second time this year. it will be nice and warm out here. the only negative in the forecast is this the pollen count just like yesterday will be through the roof. today and tomorrow it pulls back for tuesday, because of the showers that moves in and washes everything clean and climbs back

up there come wednesday. with a perfect week weather wise that's the only issue out there is the pollen. otherwise it's fantastic. get out there and enjoy yourself. if you can't do it today tomorrow is equally as nice. when i come back we'll talk about how warm it gets in the seven-day forecast and how long the pattern lasts. >> the blue cross broad street run steps off in north philadelphia in one had your. "action news" will be there from start to finish. >> tens of thousands of runners will sweat it out in a tradition that keeps getting bigger and better. >> reporter: let's go live to katherine scott at the start of the broad street run. >> reporter: about an hour to go before the race begins. we're seeing runners getting close to the starting line and let's take a look at what's happening at broad and fisher. you can see there's a lot of activity going on the runners

are getting closer, there's a prerace stretch happening about now, so the runners can get ready for this ten mile run down broad street. that ends at the navy yard. this is a popular race for runners, they love the support of the crowds, spectators line the course, there are bands playing and live entertainment. people are cheering. there are a number of good viewing spots. north broad i by temple university. broad and spring garden. west side of dilworth park. and south broad including the avenue of the arts. of course there are first timers, as well. i spoke to one as about her goals. >> not being at the end, i would like to be in the middle

pack. >> how did you train for that. >> reporter: a lot of 5ks. i did the bridge run. it was a rougher winner, i wish i had done more training, but getting out and returning in the neighborhood. >> reporter: fun and nerves as we gear up for the beginning of the race. about an hour from now the starting line at broad and fisher, you can see more and more runners starting to gather. some of them are warming up, we've seen some stretching as they get ready to go. race is at 8:00 a.m., make sure you're along the course, the because runners like that. septa says 40 bus routes will be detoured. express serve have i up and running. we have all the routes affected

for protesters to take stock and satisfaction. >> there's a big difference because of what happened yesterday. >> we have probably cause to file criminal charges. >> reporter: these 6 police police officers are accused in freddie gray's death three whites and three blacks. >> we never seen no justice. >> reporter: 25-year-old gray died of a severe spinal injury after his arrest. the driver of the police van faces the most serious charge of murder with a possible 30 year sentence. brian rice is charged with involuntarily manslaughter. others face charges of second degree assault and other offenses and involuntary manslaughter among others. a 10:00 p.m. curfew remains in force. a few protesters who defied the

curfew were arrested saturday night. jim ryan abc news baltimore. >> the candidates running for mayor of philadelphia are out for votes. all six democratic candidates will take part in a forum hosted by 6abc this tuesday at 7:00 p.m. our jim gardner will moderate. the republican candidate for mayor is unopposed. it was called the fight of the century, floyd mayweather remains undefeated. the fight was delayed 45 minutes because cable and satellite systems had trouble keeping up with the pay per view demand. 90% of pay perview orders came within hours of the fight.

the runners will have to contend with is a a lot of sunshine, make sure you're wearing a hat to shade yourself from the sun. high pressure moving in from the mason i can say did son -- mason dixon line. it will move off the coast of the carolinas. when the high pressure sets in the winds go clockwise around the high. the winds shift out of the southwest that's the set up all week long. if you're traveling to chicago there could heavy hitters expect winds in excess of 60 miles per hour. there's the probability of large hail and the storms could produce tornados. that's the only travel spot in the entire nation. it will stay that way for tomorrow. there's the high that's the good guy in control over the next couple of days. today looks good, tomorrow, equally as nice.

tomorrow. same thing for tuesday, watch out for the hit or miss thunderstorm. wednesday, cooler, 78 degrees, high pollen levels all week long. allergy sufferers keep that in the back of your mind. thursday friday, saturday, picture perfect 83, 82. there's an online scam that's dooping renters out of their money. a woman responded to a knock on the door to a woman who said they rented hadder she they had rented the home. the problem was the home was not for rent. they had to post a sign saying they were not renting the home. they are selling the home.

now officials call the scam scraping. they use pictures from legitimate postings and fraudulently post them on craig's list. no audio. i used to be able to have students come in and we do a social studies project and it was connected to language arts sidney educated the whole child. the testing shouldn't be in the driver's seat. i should be in the driver's seat. i should be directing my students in a way that's helping them make connections not just for an assessment but for life.

philadelphia 80 degrees, we're forecasting a high of 80 degrees which would be the second time all year that we've hit 80 so far. wilmington 77. trenton should top out at 78 or 79, the model has you at 76. the shorepoints will cool down this afternoon. by 1:00 p.m. 2:00 p.m. they will be as warm always inland locations and then the sea breeze conviction in and you'll pull back -- kicks in and you'll be pulling back. somewhat cooler numbers down there thanks to the cooler ocean temperatures. satellite and radar nothing to talk about, other than a few clouds up there right now. otherwise it's bright and sunny. tee time spectacular lightest breeze, 65 degrees by 10:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. 77. once again we're anticipating a high of 80. if you're out on the greens wear a hat and shade yourself from

suffice it to say energy is high. the atmosphere fuels the runners. there are a number of good viewing spots for spectators, among them, north broad by temple university, the west side of dilworth park by city hall. packer and jackson anywhere along broad street you'll see the runners run it by. this is a popular lace. they love -- popular race, i spoke to the blue cross ceo and how much it's it's become a tradition. >> we're happy that people are so happy to be out here for their health and what the city has done, the police, how they prepared for the day. you have 40,000 people running in a straight line down broad

street for ten miles it's quite a bit of work. >> reporter: the race will get underway in 30 minutes. some people are milling around, some people are taking a looked like off while they can before that ten miles. others are jogging up and down getting a good stretch in doing all this stuff to getting ready for the race that's going to start very, very soon, have fun to all the runners and 6abc will be covering it. back to you. >> the broad street run will generate almost $7 million for the city of philadelphia. most of the money will go to bookings for the hotel rooms. the city will get another boost when pope francis comes to town in september. adam joseph will be running. look at the starting line. we're sending out our chopper to give you a bird's eye view to give you a look, as well. a shout out to moms in training courtney started the fundraiser for leukemia and limp lymphoma society and raised $175,000 in two years, good luck, ladies. police have arrested a man in the stabbing death of his brother. investigators say the 52-year-old suspect got into a heated actor with his 36-year-old brother after watching the mayweather pacquiao fight. now police say during the argument the older brother pulled out a knife and stabbed his brother several times, the victim was pronounced dead inside the house. the action cam was in

camden, new jersey where a vacant warehouse went up in flames. when firefighters arrived they found flames shooting through the roof. crows brought the fire under control. there were no reports of injuries and no word on a cause. >> it was a huge turnout in delaware county for a now 12-year-old boy. josh kramer celebrated his birthday with a party that turned into a team effort. annie mccormick tells us why this day was particularly special. >> reporter: that smile on josh crairms fails is hard to -- crairms face is hard to kramer's face is hard to get. >> i can't even come up with the words i'm so grateful. >> reporter: not many 12-year-olds say they had 100 show up to the their birthday. josh has social anxiety and he is shy. nobody showed up for his original birthday party in april, including classmates.

all shorts are short right. short sleeved shirts and shorts, that's what the folks are wearing this morning. you can see guise with the viso rs on and the hats. we'll start you out with the shot of center city. look at all that bright blue, high, thin clouds, that's about it. 51 degrees, the winds are light out of the east at 5 miles per hour. look at the dewpoint it's the only in the 40s that means there's no humidity. pressure reading steady. atlantic city, 53 degrees, maybe more in the way of clouds, but they are exiting off the coast. winds a little bit stronger but generally light out of the south. the ocean temperature is 52 degrees. 45 in allentown. lancaster, 49. dover and mill ventricular -- millville coming in at 47.

wilmington, 5-mile an hour winds, beach haven, 6 miles per hour. satellite and radar all is quiet across the mid atlantic and the northeast. the only trouble spots high plains minneapolis omaha and des moines. this area here i could see heavy thunderstorms here, but for everybody else, high pressure in control. bermuda high setting up shop off the coast of the coral -- carolinas, that pumps in all the warm weather. 9:00 a.m., 58 degrees, lunchtime, 75. later this afternoon we'll top things out you saw the 79 quickly. right around 79, 80 degrees today, and then tomorrow it gets warmer, we're up to 84 degrees for the high, the model has us
