included a prophet mohammed cartoon contest. katherine scott is following the latest in the satellite center. >> reporter: good morning, tam it's early on in the investigation, so police are trying to determine if that shooting is connected to the event going on inside. police are interviewing witnesses and working to clear the scene of any potential threat. >> we evacuated businesses that were close by. >> reporter: a bomb squad in garland texas is searching a car for explosive devices after two men drove up to a controversial free speech event and opened fire. >> get back in the buildings. >> reporter: it happened before # p.m. in a dallas suburb. police say the two men got out of the vehicle started shooting hitting an unarmed security officer in the ankle. >> garland officers saw what was going on engaged the two men shot and killed them both at the scene. >> reporter: this happened outside a contest hosted by the
