now the mother of allentown has been formally charged with attempted murder aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child that after she allegedly pushed her one-year-old baby off the hamilton street bridge you see right there before jumping in herself in what authorities describe as an attempted murder-suicide. >> this is inexplicable. i don't know how any mother could do this. >> reporter: lehigh county da is talking about the alleged actions of the 19-year-old who according to witnesses kissed her baby boy then pushed him over the railing of the hamilton street bridge where the one-year-old fell more than 50 feet into the lehigh river yesterday afternoon. ly moments later perry climbed over the railing and jumped in herself. by the time police arrived perry had already made it to shore but the baby had traveled nearly half a mile downstream. responding officers jumped in pulled the baby out and performed cpr. >> lehigh river at that

juncture it usually moves pretty rapidly and it's not shallow at that section of the river so they performed their jobs heroically. >> reporter: the baby was transported to lehigh valley hospital where he's listed in very critical condition. neighbors say perry and her boyfriend had been getting into heated arguments as of late and she seemed dejected on the morning of the incident. >> she looked sad that day. she did act like crazy and she was walking and she was sad. nobody talked to her that dame ironically perry was seen having a good time with friends during a cookout the day before. willie lopez was among those who saw her there with the baby. >> saturday it was a picnic. little boy was just playing with that little boy. playing with him. in my yard and just tragic. >> reporter: perry remains hospitalized in stable condition with minor injuries. soon she'll be transported to lehigh valley hospital or lehigh valley prison where she'll be held on $100,000

bail. her preliminary hearing is scheduled may 11th. reporting live from allentown walter perez channel6 "action news. >> breaking news right now. let's go live to chopper six over the scene of a fire in the city's hunting park section. a house fire. in we look below at the bottom of your screen you can see fire crews on the scene there. this is the 3800 block of north ninth street. just moments ago we saw one person perhaps a resident being put into an ambulance from a stretcher. no word yet on what started this fire but again fire crews are on the scene. we have been told that the fire was put under control just minutes ago but the investigation is now under way into exactly what caused the blaze. again, we know of one person being rushed to the hospital and again, we will continue to follow this story for you. this is the 3800 block of north ninth street in the hunting park section of philadelphia. we'll keep an eye on the situation and bring you more updates as they become available to us. >> three women were killed in

this house fire in chester county today. officials say several children made it out of the home alive. the fire broke out about noon in the 300 block of hill road in westtown township. the home was gutted. two adults also made it out of the burning home okay. "action news" reporter chad pradelli will have a live report for us from the scene coming up at 6:00. >> firefighters in south jersey are still working to contain several wildfires tonight and officials are calling those fires suspicious. five wildfires began this morning just before dawn. dry conditions and low humidity helped the fires spread quickly. by the afternoon they scorched more than 80 acres. in the past half hour officials said four of the fires were 100 percent contained. the fifth fire we're told is 80 percent contained. meantime the cause of the fires still under investigation. no arrests have been made. we are learning more tonight about two suspected islamic extremists who opened fire at a dallas area event before authorities gunned them down.

abc news reporter marci gonzalez is live in new york tonight with more. marcy. >> reporter: suspects were roommates from arizona, one of them was on the no-fly list and police say they were determined to ambush this controversial event where one of the speakers was reportedly on an al-qaeda hit list. wearing body armor and carrying loaded assault rifles police say two men were intent on attacking a controversial event in texas where artists gathered last night competing for a $10,000 award for the best cartoon depicting the prophet mohammed. >> obviously they were there to shoot people. >> reporter: after police shot bruce joyner in the leg. another officer returned fire killing both suspects. >> whole bunch of gun shots. >> reporter: one of the suspects elton simpson who was convicted in a 2010 terror investigation apparently tweeted this with the #texas attack just a half hour before

the teens as you approach quakertown because so many people were stopped there for so long being forced off and then we had an accident on 309 which was the detouring route to west end boulevard portion at independence place. that's still out there still cleaning up but the lanes opened once again on the northeast extension northbound. now southbound we've got two new accidents between quakertown and lansdale. one of them involving an overturned vehicle taking out the right lane so i expect to see southbound delays now as you head down towards plymouth metering. we're also watching a crash in willow grove along 611 easton road near knock knowles circle. 95 camera time northbound delay by allegheny avenue. a crash up by the betsy ross bridge that's gone as is our broken down truck on the southbound side here by allegheny so things clearing out but the delay is still intact and in runnemede watch out for a wreck along the black horse pike at clements bridge road there by the rita's busy spot on an afternoon like this. sharrie over to you. >> thanks matt. a mixd bag right now. the newest royal has a

>> what stunning day. time for accuweather at the "action news" big board. let's get all the stat activity from meteorologist cecily tynan. >> some people complaining this is a little too warm too soon. a lot of people saying this is nice 85 degrees, loads of sunshine, low humidity that's 15 degrees above normal and the warmest day since

september 28th when we hit 86 degrees. right now it's 84 in philadelphia allentown 84, wilmington 82 millville 82, trenton 82 and you think wow what a great beach day but with the winds out of the south off the ocean it's a lot cooler at the beaches close to 20 degrees cooler, sea isle city and the boardwalk in atlantic city currenting 64 degrees. the problem with this warm air, low humidity, the sunshine and the fact that we haven't had a good soaking rain in the past two weeks. a red flag warning has been posted until 8 o'clock tonight. really you have to be careful with any open fires. don'ting tossing your cigarette butts out the window because it can spark a brush fire very quickly. satellite6 along with action radar showing we have a system that will bring some midweek changes on the way. this is a cold front. you'll notice not a lot of moisture with it. it will bring us scattered showers perhaps some thunderstorms tomorrow evening and then behind that we have slightly cooler air moving in,

temperatures still little bit on the warm side all week long. so tonight a few patchy clouds on the mild side, 62 in philadelphia, 56 in millville 50 in trenton and in reading 59 degrees. future tracker showing tomorrow morning by 11 o'clock temperatures already in the low 80's in philadelphia, some clouds across the northwest suburbs as that cold front moves through. it will be coming through philadelphia late in the afternoon. you'll notice that we're seeing broken band of some showers likely not severe thunderstorms but there could be a few strong thunderstorms em bedded in that line and then behind that system temperatures will fall into the 70's for one day. so the five day at 5:00 showing the summer time in may continues. 85 degrees tomorrow before a round of some afternoon thunderstorms. on wednesday it will be cooler with an isolated thundershower, 74 degrees but still though that's slightly above normal but then we're back to 80 degrees on thursday with loads of sunshine a beautiful day and temperatures start to climb after that.

the republican field for the 2016 nomination is expanding. more on the two new candidates who never served a day in public office. >> now the details. two men agreed to fight each other in middletown new castle county nearly 10 days ago. just after that confrontation one of the men ends up dead. investigators say the evidence so far shows no crime occurred but the family of the man who died say they want some answers. "action news" reporter vernon odom live outside the new castle headquarters in minquedale with that story for us. vernon. >> reporter: the parents of the deceased say they are not satisfied at all with the police investigation because they want his adversary locked up and charged with murder. so far police are not going in that direction at all. >> i just want the truth that's it. >> reporter: parents do in the believe they're getting the truth about the death of their son 20-year-old tai sawyer who died two sundaysing a after what police described as a mutual agreed upon fistfight way man he'd known

since childhood. his parents say ty would not have agreed to a fight. >> i know that this kid was harassing my son prior to the incident at the party. on various occurrences he was -- it wasn't just one occurrence where he harassed him it was multiple times. >> agreeing to fight, we know this from five very detailed accounts from witnesses. and we don't believe that the fight itself, not based on the autopsy, that that's the cause of death. >> reporter: police say the fight took place at a party. after talking to their son's friends, sawyer's parents believe he was beaten and kicked to death. police say they have already ruled out homicide in the death of ty sawyer reason waiting for a toxicology report from the state's medical examiner. >> the trauma is not there to say this was a homicide. >> didn't want to fight this kid. like we had already talked about it before when like the kid had came to our home and

like bashed up our mailbox. >> it just haunts me right now as his father to see my son dead and they do nothing about it. >> reporter: the friends and family of ty sawyer told me tonight that they are planning a protest march through middletown this coming saturday morning. the toxicology report police say is expected sometime later this week. live in minquedale, delaware, vernon odom, channel6 "action news. >> all right vernon, thank you. also from our delaware news room tonight delaware state police have identified the elderly man who was hit and killed while crossing the street early this morning. he's been identified as 71-year-old leroy core of newark. according to police he was attempting to walk across the westbound lanes of pulaski highway when he walked in front of a car. core did not survive the impact and died at the scene. the driver of the car remained on the scene and was not injured. new castle county police are looking for the man in this surveillance video tonight.

they believe he broke into a car that was parked outside of a newark home and stole the resident's purse. authorities say the victim noticed unauthorized traffic's owe -- transaction on her bank card. they believe the man is driving a gray nissan xterra. if you recognize him you're asked to contact new castle county police. >> two men are wanted in connection with an armed robbery in philadelphia's port richmond section. the surveillance video shows the suspect walking into the cluck kells bar in the 3000 block of frankford avenue last monday. they placed an order but when the employee gives it to them they pull a gun right there and demand money. one of them pulled the cash register off the counter forcing it opened. they took that money and walked out. if you recognize either of them please call philadelphia police. two construction workers in a lop after a roof collapse in bucks county. this is a scene about 2:00 p.m. today in the 3200 block of bath road in bristol

township. officials say the workers were puting a new roof on when the wooden trusses fell apart and smashed to the ground. authorities are not commenting on the extent of the workers' injuries. >> wilmington officials have announced they're looking for two people of interest in connection with the bancroft mills fire. they want you to take a good look at the two people in these pictures. authorities say they may be connected to the fire at the 184 abandoned mill early saturday morning. took crews several hours to get the flames under control due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area. if you recognize either person wilmington police would like to hear from you. authorities in berks county are looking for a man caught stealing hard earned cash from a reading restaurant. surveillance cameras at russo's pizzeria captured the suspect casually dropping their tip jar in a bag saturday morning. the owner of the restaurant is calling on the thief to turn himself in or at the very least get a job. >> this guy, you know, be honest and get a job and work,

you know what i mean? >> well, that owner says the tip jar contained about a hundred dollars. if you recognize the thief call reading police. >> national guard has begun to leave baltimore one week after those violent protests shut down the city. nearly 4,000 troops were sent to the city after last week's unrest. almost half of them have left now. officials say they will all be withdrawn by the end of the week. the city's curfew was lifted yesterday and maryland's governor says he plans to lift the state of emergency after the troops leave. officials streaks help may be leaving but there is still work to be done. >> we're here for the long term. we're not here for a quick fix and also for [inaudible] we're here to stay. >> today a scare with police caused a crowd to gather. there were reports of a police-involved shooting in

and the northeast extension reopens to traffic after a deadly accident. plus, the big story on "action news" tonight is the latest information on that hill road fire in west caln township chester county. authorities are report throwing people were killed in the blaze. the fire broke out at 12:07 in the 300 block of hill road. "action news" reporter chad pradelli is live at the scene of the blaze. chad. >> reporter: jim, we're up the hill from where this fire started. it was a double wide mobile home that caught fire. this blaze destroyed that home. three women died like you said and this is still very much an active scene as the fire marshal's office is here determining cause. this is what's left of the west caln home that caught fire around noon a shell of charred wood and siding. it's where three women lost their lives trapped by the smoke and flames. authorities say relatives had gathered at the house after another family member passed
