stuff in lancaster county. i am getting a hint of some thunderstorms in central pa. this might also try and push through later in there morning. the wide view on satellite shows you a fair amount of cloud cover over the northern half of the region, southern half less so and kind of a mix in philadelphia with those showers on the way. temperatures right now aren't bad. 66 degrees in philadelphia. 62 in wilmington. up in the lehigh valley 66 and 67 in trenton. and as we roll through the day it won't be as warm as yesterday but it will still be not bad temperature-wise. by noon we're up to 75. by 3 o'clock 75. coming down from a high of 76 around 2:00 and by 6 o'clock 70 degrees. again a spotty shower or perhaps a brief thunderstorm here or there particularly in the morning. and as we take a look at the pollen count we're still in the medium high range today. word to the wise, thursday, friday, saturday we'll see that pollen climb under the sun. i'll have the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast letting you know when we return to the 80's. that's coming up.

karen. >> we're seeing a touch of fog. you get that idea looking at this shot here in chadds ford. this is delaware county, route one baltimore pike at creek road. very light volume and traffic really moving fine so the weather conditions aren't creating any big problem there. we have downed wires in middletown township closing elwyn road closed between new middletown road and baltimore pike. stick to rose tree road as your alternate. newcombing in a report of an accident on the northeast extension southbound past lansdale. that's exit 31. an accident off to the side. you can see it in the shot here with police on the scene. this is east falls abbottsford avenue near fox street just off of the boulevard northbound watch for that one. not affecting traffic too much out there. on the vine street expressway the overnight construction there has cleared so some better news right there. and also let's take a look here at i-95. we've got a problem right by penn's landing. you see penndot on the scene with this disabled vehicle. it's off to the left shoulder. i-95 southbound as you head towards the walt whitman bridge you're going to run into that one tam. >> thank you karen. the search is on this

morning for man who kidnapped and sexualing assaulted a woman at gun point. philadelphia police released a sketch of the suspect. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live outside of special victims unit. she's got the latest details. good morning katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam. detectives here at the special victims unit are working this case. they're hoping that someone recognizes this sketch and gives them some tips to track this man down who they say is responsible for a sexual assault last week of a 22-year-old woman. let's get to that sketch. you can see the ma and that police are looking for. they believe he's between 21 and 25 years old about five-seven to five-10 around 160 pounds brown hair nan row strip of hair on his chin. the attack took place friday morning around 5:30 in fishtown. the victim was walking along the 20's hundred block of east york street when he approached her. ed a black handgun according to police and forced her into his minivan. he drove her to an unknown location and sexually

assaulted her at gun point later dropping her off at almond and boston. the suspect's early 90's dodge or chrysler minivan was caught on surveillance video. >> what's unique is she said inside the minivan the rear seats, the rear seats had been removed. and she was able to describe the inside of the minivan because she spent some time inside of that minivan at least an hour. >> reporter: anyone with any information is urged to call the police who posted a number for you on our web site at 6abc.com. we're live in hunting park, katherine scott channel6 "action news." >> thanks katherine. a freight train managed to stop just short of hitting a septa bus that had been stuck on the tracks. the csx train had been blocking across overtraffic on columbus boulevard in south philadelphia last night. witnesses say the driver of the route 29 bus turned onto the track to try the detour around the train and got stuck. the train was moving slowly toward the bus but managed to

stop in time. the bus driver and two pus passengers were tweeted at the hospital. they're expecting to be okay. septa is investigating that driver's actions. the six democratic candidates for philadelphia mayor took part in their final broadcast debate right here on 6abc before that may 19th primary. they mostly talked about education and the relationship between police and the community. erin o'hearn is live at the big board with a debate break down. erin. >> reporter: good morning matt. the hot topic was the leadership in the philadelphia police department and practices used by officers which is also at the for front of the national discussion as welly all six candidates said they would put an end to the department's stop and frisk policy. as for the candidates thought on the current leadership of the ppd by commissioner charles ramsey. >> commissioner ramsey is out of here. number two, we would hire somebody from within. >> i like him. i would keep him the question is would he stay. >> if he stays or if he goes the new commissioner in my administration will be within

the police department. >> person who uses the stop and frisk the most the current commissioner would be changed. >> reporter: the other big issue, schools. a viewer by the name of laura submitted a question asking how each candidate if elected would solve the school funding crisis. kenny and abraham said the real responsibility is on harrisburg but both touched on raising funds through taxes while anthony williams said he would not raise taxes insisting the answer is managing city's assets more efficiently. nelson diaz claimed school funding is a matter of shifting who gets taxed. meanwhile doug oliver raised concerns over the debate over public and charter schools. >> we tax the wrong people in the wrong places. we should be taxing the whicher shall real estate taxes, we should be reducing our wage taxes. >> i think the conversation about charter schools versus district schools is the wrong argument. i think it needlessly divides us. i think a better conversation is high performing schools versus under performing schools. >> reporter: we profiled

worst city for drivers in the u.s. this is according to a sued dee from nerd wallet. drivers are 61 percent more like to get into an accident in the city than elsewhere. more than 100 days of rain or snow and higher insurance costs also contributed to the lousy driving conditions in philly. but matt and tam thank goodness for david and karen who have got you covered for weather and traffic. >> yes they do. thanks maribel. boston was number one. new york city was number 10 am i thought that was surprising. >> on our shift chance of accidents go way down because nobody on the road when we come in. storm tracker six live double scan no real active rain out there right now. you might see a little bit of a sprinkle creeping into the western edge of chester county and areas where it isn't raining of course up in the poconos there's more extended shower activity. might have damp roads because of some overnight precipitation that's now well off the cost but that's the next stuff coming and right now it doesn't look like all that much. as we take a look outside we have a fair amount of cloud

cover over philadelphia international airport. notice that the camera is not really bouncing around much because the winds are in the low single digits this morning. 66 degrees in philadelphia. 62 in wilmington. even up in the generally cooler lehigh valley we're at 66 degrees. 63 in reading. 67 in trenton and low 60's down the shore. so pretty comfortable conditions out there despite some of the areas seeing a fair amount of cloud cover early. future tracker six does show some clearing to the south more clouds to the north as we move through the early part of the rush hour. toward the end of the rush hour between about eight and 9 o'clock there's a chance of showers coming through. might even hear a rumble of thunder occasionally as this drops past. then we get into midday and looks like we're back to clouds some sunny breaks and maybe a real isolated shower and that's pretty much the story the rest of the way. going up to 6 o'clock a mix of clouds and sun maybe a couple of little spotty showers. so the morning would probably be the best chance of seeing something. this afternoon not so much. up in allentown 69 degrees is your high today some sun a-spotty shower cannot be ruled out. and as we take a look at the

shore pretty much the same story. clouds some sun 67 degrees is the high in atlantic city and we can't rule out a spotty shower or even a rumble of thunder through the day. and in philadelphia we'll go for a high of 76 degrees today. a mix of clouds and sun a spotty shower can't be ruled out. but dry most of the time. winds northeast seven to 14 miles per hour. not all that strong. rolling through the day, 66 by 8 o'clock. 74 by 11 o'clock and the afternoon is going to be fairly mild, just not as toasty as it was the last couple of days when we got up into the mid 80's. today the mid 70's and that 76-degree high is probably fairly early in the afternoon. tomorrow high pressure sits off the coast. that encourages more of a southwesterly flow. that will bump us up to 81 for a high with that milder southwest wind, partly sunny skies. and we're also keeping our eyes on an area of low pressure that will likely develop over next couple days and potentially begin to form what could be the susan's first tropical system off the coast of georgia and south carolina.

this looks like it will move away from us maybe throwing in clouds toward the end of the weekend. if it does get a name it will be ana just 1n. your exclusive accuweather 7-day clouds some sun today 76 degrees a-spotty shower at times. and then warmer tomorrow back up to 81 and for the aberdeen dad vail regatta great weather. friday and saturday 85-degree highs both days with a fair amount of sunshine. second half of the weekend looks even warmer with a high of 87. that's mother's day so we've got the bouquet of flowers and there is a possibility of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon sunday but most of the day looks okay. a little bumpy monday, tuesday with some more showers around. >> okay, we'll be ready. thanks, david. 6:11 now and we are following a developing story. new video is just in from a serious crash involving a police cruiser on the new jersey turnpike. >> a sweet treat turns sour when a bus rider picks a fight over ice cream. karen. >> drying out here in chester county over the 30 bypass at 322 but we're jamming on i-95 when we have two new accidents

>> ♪♪ >> welcome back. taking a live look there over penn's landing over at the ben franklin bridge and delaware. beautiful start to your wednesday, 6:15, 67 degrees. >> not moving very fast here. >> no. we're jammed here on i-95 as we're looking live here i-95 at cottman no big accidents causing the problem but you can see that southbound jam from academy to cottman and from the betsy ross bridge to girard. a 26 minute ride southbound on i-95. we do have an accident coming in to us in trevose bucks county. browns mill road closed. stick to old lincoln highway as your alternate. another accident on welsh road at north wales road. so a couple of accidents coming in and a report of an accident here northeast extension, that's southbound past lansdale. earlier we had some construction on the northeast extension and that has since cleared but an accident reported out there on the northeast extension causing a problem as well. with just a touch of fog in the area. in the city itself 8-mile visibility.

but 1.3-mile visibility in wilmington so that's one spot where you're catching a little bit it. saw some earlier in millville but not looking too bad. but .3 in lancaster. it's out to the west. we have a couple sprinkles or showers out there north and west as we're looking live on storm tracker six live double scan we can see it's not causing a big problem out there. we're watching for the chance of a shower pushing through right now like you're seeing not that far off from coatesville matt and tam. >> thank you karen. developing this morning in north jersey two pedestrians were hit and killed on the new jersey turnpike in a crash that involved a police vehicle. this happened just after 1:00 in the morning in secaucus near the vince lombardi service area. a police vehicle with a smashed front window and front end damage was parked on the turnpike there at the crash scene. now let's take a live look over the scene. this is coming to us from our sister station wabc. as you can see it looks like just one lane of traffic -- well two and they seem to be merging together are able to

get by. if you know this area you know it is incredibly busy this time of the morning. so, this is a bad scene north to us almost right there in new york city. >> this is new on "action news." police say a berks county bus passenger took a licking from a woman who was licking an ice cream cone. the bus driver had told her to stop eating her ice cream cone on the bus. police say allen refused so the bus driver stopped the bus in wyomissing. then police say allen began arguing with another passenger who was holding a child and punched her at least 10 times in the face. allen faces simple assault and harassment charges. it is unclear if barta has a no food policy for passengers. >> it is 6:17. still ahead six things to know. an odd photo of a fish tells a disturbing tale of what's really in one pennsylvania river. david. >> guys, we have t-shirts on the kids going to school and on the way home. maybe a light jacket but you are looking at temperatures in the mid 60's in most neighborhoods this morning and light winds.

watch for that left lane being blocked and it already is creating a jam eastbound on the schuylkill from the boulevard to montgomery. that's a new problem out there right now on the schuylkill. septa trolleys route 101 will not run between monroe street and orange street from 4:50 today to 11 o'clock tonight because of the dining under the stars in media event dave. >> sounds fun. we're in the 60's right now staying in the 60's by 9:00 there's the possibility of a brief shower at times during the morning hours. then the afternoon looks like a mix of clouds and sun. we'll be in the mid 70's with a high of 76 probably around 2 o'clock this afternoon and still holding onto 70 by 6 o'clock. across the wide view little bit of shower activity down off florida. we have this line of showers developing with some possible thunderstorms coming later on and this is the area of the country where you expect the best chance of severe weather today, so if you're flying out toward omaha wichita oklahoma city maybe dallas and down towards santonio maybe some delays there later on. on the big board at the airport all green aircraft this morning with no major drains only weather issue is
