firefighters have their work cut out for them right now, can you see the smoke and flames billowing hire out of the forest you see behind me that is the command center we have seen heavy smoke here along route 206, we don't know if they are backfires being set to stop the advancement of this fire we don't know if it's the fire itself moving forward. as of 2:00 p.m., the forest service says there is no containment, state police say there are few evacuations and this is not a populate the area and a forest station where we are at are some of the buildings being threatening but we are okay at this time. it has ten brush trucks and a fixed wing plane and a helicopter too dropping water on this fire, of course the trucks and tractors are digging around it and trying to get this thing contained.

as of 2:00 p.m. there is no containment. i am here with carlton montgomery you have been evacuated. >> i run the organization that runs the canoe and kayak renal up the street here. >> what is your concern now if the fire comes across 206 it could threaten the houses and our businesses there. >> are you concerned? >> yes but i have confidence in the firefighters. >> talking to state police the main concern is traffic, this is 206 shut down at route 230, they say this will really bottleneck. but as you see the firefighters have their work cut out for them and they don't want it to cross this busy road here.

the firefighters are coming to this lake behind us taking the bucket and getting the water and dropping it on this blaze. so far no real urgency, they say they are used to this and they are fighting this fire, and the conditions this area did not get rain over the last few days, so it's very dry conditions here, but i'm told that the wind is not too bad at this time. and that is playing a better role than the fire the last few days the wind is not causing them many problems we'll follow this story throughout the evening newscast live in the wharton state forest chad pradelli channel 6 "action news." >> we can confirm the winds are calm but dry conditions we have seen all week are only feeding the fire, lets go outside to cecily tynan with more on that as well as a look at the accuweather forecast. we needed rain like yesterday.

>> we sure do it's been dry and warm and it's humidity has been low and that is all added up to an elevated fire risk, unbelievable. we have less than a quarter inch of rain, this time of the year the air is dry and that drys out the branches and leaves and that creates kindling. and we usually use stormtracker 6 live double scan to show rain but we can detect the smoke particles around 206 in it actually looks like that fire is decreasing its intensity. hopefully that is the case, and like chad mentioned the winds are light and pushing the brush fire along. the problem though the

temperatures it's warm and feels like summer, 80 in philadelphia and 75 in millville, and 82 in allentown and reading 80 degrees, it has the low humidity of spring time. stormtracker 6 live double scan shows the low pressure off the coast of georgia, that low pressure is trying to work to the north but the high pressure will keep us dry through the weekend and the high pressure is keeping the storms across the plain states from moving east of the same areas that saw the tornadoes and have a risk of more severe weather we'll have more details of what to expect over your weekend in the accuweather forecast. >> as you mentioned that weather pattern is bringing us dry conditions it left much of the midwest reeling from wet storms. erin o'hearn is live in the traffic center with where they
