a weapon. katherine scott is live in darby borough with the latest, katherine. >> reporter: matt, it's still early on with the investigation police are trying to piece this together. they are trying to notify the family members, they have reopened main street it was closed for hours during the police investigation. it happened at 1:00 p.m. the victim was shot until hallway near the front door, he was pronounced at the scene. police are working to contact the family members. they don't have a detailed description of the suspect but they say he might be carrying a rifle or long gun, they are working to confirm that. the building had been evacuated. resident it is were waiting it out on a septa trolley they were allowed back inside. >> we took them out because we were not sure if the shooter was inside the building, but then we got information that someone ran down the street. >> reporter: and back here live

reporting the smell of smoke. they are fighting with fire, lighting a series of backfires around the main blaze to starve of it of any more fuel to burn while a special chopper from above dropped water from atizon lake. >> a lot of hair -- area has not burned for 20 years. >> reporter: firefighters remain on the scene and continue to douse hot spots and patrol the area. >> 12-year-old boy is recovering after he was stabbed in the back in the frankford section of the city. police say this happened while he tried to protect his sister from a group of girls during a huge fight. the brawl happened along pratt street. police took two witnesses possibly juveniles in for questioning. the stabbing victims -- the

stabbing victim is in stable condition. dover delaware police officer kicked a suspect in the face it happened in 2013. thomas webster iv was arrested monday. he was indicted for second degree assault. the charges are are the result of a lawsuit brought by the aclu after another grand jury declined to indict him last year. jury selection begins in the trial of four former police officers. prosecutors built their case on testimony from a former colleague jeffrey walker. walker pleaded guilty last year. tornado alley is braising for more severe storms today and tomorrow. this is video of several tornados tearing through texas over the past 12 hours. wednesday's outbreak is responsible for one death and more than a dozen injuries.

and now this looks like snow, but it's hail covering a highway in colorado. interstate 25 in colorado springs had to be shut down so crews could get the quarter size ice pellets off the road. >> we haven't had that around here. >> reporter: and tam you've been saying we could use the rain, we'll have to wait until monday, possibly tuesday before we see the rain. we have an issue with fog down the shore mainly. areas highlighted in red that's the quarter mile or less visibility. that has filled in up and down the coast now, cape may half mile visibility but that could change. look at how the red is spreading toward southern salem county mainly the areas down by the shore where it's worse. in harrisburg, fog forming out there, as well. oddly enough you go outside in philadelphia right now there's a good chance of seeing stars out. as we take a look outside, we

warmest. the closer you are to the shore and the ocean water the cooler it is. along the coast we're looking at highs in the low 70s between cape may and atlantic city. dad vail rat -- dad vail regatta, it's going to be a warm one today and tomorrow. phillies 77 for the mets, 68 at the end of the game. a good day for baseball. ana has been declared a tropical storm. tropical storm you would have rain bands evenly scattered but the sub tropical storms it's scattered and farther away from the center. but we're anticipating rain heavy at times along the south carolina and north carolina coastlines. this is where the main rain will be over the next couple of days

the emergency aboard this plane that filled up with smoke. a passenger snapped this shot from the delta flight yesterday. an engine problem created all the smoke. the flight from fort lauderdale was heading to new york city, it diverted to charleston, south carolina where firefighters were waiting as a precaution. the plane landed safely and no injuries were reported. new a brave 13-year-old california girl fought off an attacker who police believe has a history of attacking woman. police released the picture of the man in the hopes the man will be stopped. he followed the girl to the front stems and said he was lost. the girl ran in he followed her in. she hit him in the face. the same man is wanted for assaulting a 28-year-old woman in a supermarket restroom last month. cameron is seen as winning
