>> good morning, it is # a.m., here saturday, may 9. police in montgomery county search forea robber who held up a 7-eleven overnight. we hear from a brave 12-year-old boy who was stabbed after he came to his sister's defense. plus, rowers hit the water in the dad vail regatta. first, let's head outside to chris sowers and see what the rowers are facing. >> reporter: it's not bad out here, i have noticed a slight increase in humidity. the only thing going on around the delaware valley is the patchy dense fog inland locations until 9:00 a.m., if you're on the coast it's up until noon. because of that we have issued the yellow caution flag you want

to drive slowly and keep both hands on the steering wheel more importantly keep your beams on low. closer to the water you go, the visibility excuse me becomes less and less, we're down to .3 in beach haven and atlantic city. the number on the beach is probably close to zero at this point. 2 1/2 miles in wildwood. 2 1/2 in millville. 3 miles for philadelphia. that number comes to us from the airport. allentown you're in the clear at 8 miles. 2 1/2 for the poconos. once the cloud lifts and the fog burns off, that will happen around late morning or lunchtime. the sun comes out and the temperatures soar to 80 degrees. the golf forecast looks like if you're in south jersey and delaware, keep it on the greens or in the fairway or have fun trying to find it otherwise. we'll have temperatures climbing

out of the low 60s into the low 70s. this afternoon we'll see a decent amount of sunshine. when i come back in a few minutes, that's tropical storm ana. it's stationary heading toward the coast heading toward the delaware valley. how close it gets before the pulls out so sea that's in question. what impacts it will have on the area, that's in question, i'll have more in ten minutes. >> a robber hit a 7-eleven in lower merion on the 100 block of city avenue. no word how much money he got. the suspect fled in a minivan the clerk is okay. a 1-year-old boy who was stabbed in the -- a 12-year-old boy who was stabbed in the back trying to protect his sister is out of the hospital. "action news" talked to the brave boy his sister and father. >> ho how do i tell me son it's okay, it's not.

>> reporter: lloyd divine got the call his 12-year-old son was stabbed while protecting his sister from a group of girls when they attacked her on the sidewalk. these siblings were leaving elementary school and going to their grandmas. >> they were punching i forget they had a knife. i forgot they had a knife and they punched me, i didn't know they stabbed me. >> reporter: only "action news" was there when police arrived to bag potential evidence frustrated after no weapon was recovered, divine went to the park and found the knife in two

pieces and the blood left behind his son. dad is proud of his son but said his kids love school and not used to violence like this. >> my daughter doesn't want to go to school no more. >> reporter: police believe the female was responsible for the stabbing they were there were more involved in the fight from local high schools, they are no as you surveillance cameras around the park, they are looking for witnesses to come forward and contact police. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." >> a ridley township man is facing child porn charges when police showed up at his home, 20-year-old michael deal admitted he downloaded child

porn he has been arrested. animal control officers removed 40 dogs from a garbage filled house on spruce street in lakewood. the dog's coats were so matted and dirty the dogs had to be shaved. >> it was like walking through 6 inches of slippery mud. >> neighboring say they've complaining for months about a stench coming from the house. it is likely the woman who had the dogs will face cruelty charges. the dogs have been sent to shelters and rescue groups. state senator pat brown was hurt after his motorcycle hit a guardrail in allentown last week. he said he is extremely grateful that no one else was hurt. he is getting a solid grasp on

alcoholism which he battled for years. he will not lose his license because his last dui was more than ten years ago. new jersey governor chris christie spoke about the bridgegate scandal during a town hall in new hampshire. christy said the arrest of two former political allies felt like he was hit by a 2 by 4. he added that leaders can't guarantee that the people he hires will never make mistakes. he added that he acted decisively and it's time to move on. he is considering a run for the white house. tyana finch walked into her film hearing. she also charged with murdering mark hudson who work for the

darby police department for four years. she claimed that the shooting was accidentally, but later said she fired in self-defense after being attacked. wilmington mayor dennis williams said his police officer will be equipped with body cameras they will improve transparency and trust between officers and the public and reduce complaints against officers. mayor williams signed an order to study the implementation of the cameras. officers may use them by the end of the year. one south jersey mom said a present she never thought she would get back. she recently moved to willingboro and left family in charge of her belongings, but she moved away and the someone broke in and stole all the

>> thunderstorms are expected to rumble across the southern plains today. >> there it is. >> storm chasers spotted two tornados forming in texas. residents took shelter as the twisters blew through town, no injuries or damage were reported. more storms may pop up

there today. oklahoma could get pummeled by more tornados and hail today. power lines already down there. look at all hail piled up in norman oklahoma. flooding the threatening some homes. dozens of tornados and severe storms plowed through the plains this week. waves up along the north carolina coast thanks to tropical storm ana. the first named storm of the season is expected to come ashore in charleston south carolina. it's bringing heavy rains and dangerous rip currents. watches and warnings are posted for parts of carolinas. >> reporter: it's only may 9th. june 1 is the official start to hurricane season we already have a named storm. >> that's not good. >> reporter: hopefully that's not a sign of things to come. doesn't look like an overall

aggressive tropical season. sometimes things don't work out the way we see. a little bit of patchy drizzle is showing up northern portions of atlantic county and southeastern burlington county. we'll see that over the next hour or so, as the fog rolls in. there's the view at the airport in philadelphia. 64 degrees dewpoint, 61. it's noticeably more humid out there this morning a light breeze out of the northeast at 5 miles per hour. they are socked in really good at the shore. 58 degrees in cape may. dewpoint, 57. a light breeze out of the northeast at 7 miles per hour. ocean water temperature climbing 57 degrees, there's good news there. dense fog advisory remains in effect until 9:00 a.m. for interior south jersey and the state of delaware. and then right there on the coast from wildwood to sandy hook in monmouth county up until noon, we'll see vis -- visibility dipping below a

quarter mile. 3 in dover. 3 at the airport in philadelphia. 64 degrees in philadelphia. 58 on the boardwalk. 63 in millville. 60 in trenton. 59 in sea isle city. one thing you'll note today if you're traveling down the shore temperatures inland will be close to 80. you get on the water you're topping out in the mid to upper 60s. temperatures in the 50s it will be cooler on the water. satellite and radar, nice and clear, nothing going on, once the fog lifts we turn our attention down to the south. one of the last several frames you can see the jog toward the northwesterly. it's pushing closer to myrtle beach. ana will turn toward the north an northeast and work its way out to sea. and it should spare the delaware valley. even if it were to move into the area. it doesn't appear as if the impacts will be that great.

60-mile an hour stained winds -- stained wind. movement to the northwest. # 70 miles southeast of myrtle beach south carolina. we'll see prolonged southeasterly winds because of the storm and that will increase the fog over the next few days. some of it will be dense. it will be noticeably more humid, especially tomorrow, mother's day monday and tuesday, the humidity sticks around, as well. no direct impacts but we'll see the humidity increase and the patchy fog. future tracker # skies -- skies brighten up later on. same thing for mother's day patchy dense fog and skies brighten up. the only problem with the humidity tomorrow there's a chance of pop-up showers in some locations. morning fog, otherwise sun and clouds, a little humid

>> reporter: welcome back everyone, 7:24 saturday morning we're talking about how tomorrow will be a bad hair day because of the humidity. what's going on is this, we have tropical storm ana sitting off the coast. the counter clockwise winds will team up with the clockwise winds around the high. the high is preventing ana from shooting up the coast. that's good news. the combination of the two drive a southeasterly wind from this area here. from richmond to new york city each and every morning you'll start out with fog and patchy drizzle. eventually the humidity starts to increase. later today we'll see dewpoints in the low 60s and that

>> a dozen patients at a philadelphia rehab facility are rushed to the hospital after an apparent overdose details ahead. a woman is dead after she was hit by a duck boat ride that was filled with tourists. and we'll have a foggy start for the delaware valley, and nothing but beautiful sunshine. meteorologist chris sowers is outside, you can see the sunshine already soaking up the area out there chris. >> reporter: some areas are socked in pretty good with patchy fog. the question is how quickly do we transition over from the dense fog to bright sunshine this afternoon. we're seeing wet weather as we go over to double scan live. most of the region in the clear if you look toward the right-hand side of the scene you see green on the radar. atlantic county and southeastern

burlington county from speedwell to absecon. you can see blips of yellow east of egg harbor coming down pretty good. this will continue over the next hour or two, as the southeasterly wind eases up and the fog lifts the showers will pull away. half mile in beach haven. four in trenton, 8 in allentown. the dense fog advisory remains in effect until lunchtime for areas close to the coast and inland locations around 9:00 a.m. it should lift around lunchtime for everybody. same thing tomorrow morning we'll start out with fog, some of it will be rather dense by afternoon skies brighten up and it's nice and sunny. lunchtime, 73. we're out of the fog still clouds around, in the afternoon

wall-to-wall blue, temperatures closing in on 80 degrees. look at the sunset, 8:03. somewhat dreary morning transitions over to a beautiful afternoon. same thing tomorrow and the heat cranks up next week. i'll have the details in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> two people were hurt when a driver lost control and slammed into a telephone pole on choose landing road in front of the firehouse in gloucester township, camden county. two people inside the car were trapped. both victims were rushed to cooper university hospital. no word on their conditions. as many a as many as a dozens patients were rushed to the hospital after reportedly overdosing on synthetic marijuana at the diagnostic rehabilitation center in east falls. we're told as many as 12

patients had bad reactions to k2 or synthetic marijuana. >> i got back from work and ambulances were everywhere. cops were everywhere, people overdoses on k2. people leaving here. craziness. >> the patients were taken to temple and einstein medical centers. one of the popular ride the ducks boat tour rides is in the spotlight after a pedestrian was hit and killed. it happened in broad daylight while the boat tour was full of tourists in chinatown. dann cuellar has the details. >> reporter: tourists in chinatown was enjoying a beautiful evening when tragic struck out of nowhere. it appears the victim a 68-year-old tourist from texas never saw it coming. the horrific scene police had to use a yellow tarp to cover the mangled body. >> the 68-year-old female was

trapped under the vehicle. >> reporter: police say the duck boat being driven by a 72-year-old man was traveling westbound on afternoon carrying tourist and a tour guide. >> the 68-year-old female was crossing the street against a steady red light. >> reporter: witnesses say the woman was looking down and doing something on her ipad and did not see the duck boat coming at her. >> be aware of your surrounding. >> reporter: it was back in july 2010 when we had a serious incident when it was in the delaware river and lost power and struck by a barge. two tourists were killed in the mishap. this left some visitors shaken. >> she was crossing the street and the duck came along it's a sad day. >> basically it's a tragedy tharnld -- that should have never happened.

>> reporter: the matter is being handled by the philadelphia police. no charges are pending against the driver. it appears to be a tragic accident. in chinatown, dann cuellar channel 6 "action news." >> police in delaware county say a freak accident led to a crash that killed a pedestrian. chopper of was over the scene on the 300 block of chestnut road in drexel hill. police say a driver lost control and rode up a driver way crashing into a garage. the victim was caught in the path of the vehicle and killed instantly. the driver was not hurt. no word on what caused the driver to lose control. philadelphia police have identified the suspect they are looking for in the kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman in fishtown. this is manuel cintron. they also the minivan they he was using was caught on surveillance video. the 22-year-old was abducted at gunpoint. police think cintron tried to

attack another woman an hour earlier in the city's logan section. she was able to fight him off and run for help. an fbi agent was shot while serving a warrant in colorado. the agent was part of a somewhat operation going after an alleged serial bank robber. as law enforcement moved in, the suspect fired two shots one agent was shot in the leg and suspected to survive. the gunman took his life. police never fired a shot. a police officer killed in the line of duty has been laid to rest. officer brian moore was remembered during funeral services yesterday. he was shot while chasing a suspect in plain clothes. thousands of officers from across the country lined the streets to show solidarity with their brothers and sisters in blue, officer moore was 25 years old. 6 police officers charged in connection with the death of freddie gray are asking the judge to toss the case.

the officers say they are the victims of an over-zealous prosecution riddleed with conflicts. they also the prosecutor should be replaced. gray died after injuring his spine in police custody. mean while u.s. attorney general loretta lynch announced the justice department will conduct a broad investigation into the baltimore police department. it comes in the wake of riots and unrest. the probe will identify practices that are you think constitutional and violate civil rights. >> this investigation will begin immediately and focus on allegations is that baltimore police department officers use excessive force including deadly force, conduct unlawful searches and seizure and arrest and engaged in discriminatory policing. >> a second federal investigation is probing the

death of freddie gray. philadelphia police gathered in the frankford section of the city to remember a fallen officer killed in the line of duty. this is the 9th anniversary of gary skerski's death shot and killed while responding to a robbery at pat's cafe. his killer is serving a life sentence. there's increased security at military bases across north america. the security level has gone from alpha to bravo. it's the first time it's been that high since 9/11. the changes came after the fbi director said there are possibly thousands of isis followers online. the head of the north american command shares with the fbi concern about the potential threat posed by homegrown violent extremists. more than 9,000 students graduated from temple university

on the garden state parkway you'll see showers from lower bank to beach haven. a quick hitting downpour is possible in the next hour or so. looks like we'll see a few spritzes and sprinkles as the late morning hours wear on. slightly humid across south jersey and delaware. north and west, dewpoints in the 50s. reading, 61. poconos closing in on 60 degrees, you were down in the mid 40s early this morning. philadelphia, 65. millville, 63. sea isle city and atlantic city 60. so low 60s translates to slightly humid conditions. south jersey and delaware you'll notice the slight increase in humidity that's pretty much how it will go later this afternoon as well. these dewpoints skyrocket tomorrow into the upper 60s
