"action news" speaks with the victim and her mother about the frightening ride. >> sent to the sidelines the nfl comes down hard on the new england patriots and its biggest stamp we'll break down the deflategate punishment. >> we'll find out which of the four of us are standing in a little bit of humidity right now.

>> we're actually only in the 60's. satellite and radar shows you that there was some shower and thunderstorm activity in central pennsylvania last night but it largely fell apart by the time it headed to the east. now we're looking at a mix of clouds and sun to start out today. we are looking at temperatures in the 60's. we're up to 68 in philadelphia, 65 in allentown 66 in wilmington and when you check out those dewpoints for the second straight morning they're over 60 and that means somewhat humid air with that dewpoint of 64 in philadelphia. as we roll through the day a couple can of changes on the way. the first, a rise in temperature. by 8 o'clock we're at 70. by noon 85. and then we get a very warm high today of 88 degrees. that's just 3 degrees off the record high for this date. but at the same time the humidity levels going to start to drop so that while it might feel a little muggy through lunchtime during the after you should feel more comfortable. we're also looking at a real strong wind building in. and karen rogers the pollen count is running high again today so keep those allergy medications handy if you do suffer from that sort of thing. what about roads early on? >> we're looking pretty good

here road condition-wise. no big weather related problems but we're starting to see that slower go now. this is i-95 approaching cottman and you watched this southbound traffic as you head towards center city jamming approaching cottman and again from allegheny to girard. that was i-95 looking live at the schuylkill to update you we had some debris right here. you can see a little bit of it right here but it's still moving okay. no problem on the schuylkill at spring garden. earlier we were watching as some cars were swerving around this westbound as you head towards girard but it's looking better right now with most of that debris clear. also cleared this accident in penn wynne on haver rod fred. a two alarm house fire causing restrictions this morning. we have old baltimore pike blocked here in new castle county. it's blocked at main street. if you're in this area stick to 273 as your alternate. a lot of emergency workers coming to the scene right now with that two alarm fire. burlington bristol bridge should be going up around 6:30. we earlier saw an up bridge at

the tacony palmyra. burlington bristol going up. stick to the turnpike connector instead, at a many. >> thank you karen. breaking news this morning, a magnitude 7.3 earthquake that hit in nepal overnight less than three weeks after that quake that devastated large areas of the himalayan nation. the u.s. gs says the earthquake was centered about 50 miles east of kathmandu near the border with china. it was a deep earthquake which means much less damage at the surface. so far just reports of about four deaths. now there have also been five strong aftershocks. people there describe it as feeling like they're constantly in rough seas and people are out in the streets they're shouting, they're crying. already they're shaken up again by that 7.8 quake that hit nepal on april 25th. that one killed more than 8,000 people. back here police are looking for suspects in the attack on a school bus in west philadelphia. it happened as special needs

students were on their way home from the school of the future. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live outside of southwest detectives. she's got the very latest on what and who they're looking for. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, that's right and one of those students ended up in the hospital. now detectives hear at the southwest division are investigating this case. they're hoping to be able to release some surveillance footage that will help them track down who's responsible. >> boy threw a brick through window and hit my daughter. >> reporter: 20-year-old special needs student courtney clancy had been riding on this school district bus in west philadelphia yesterday. suddenly a rock came crashing through the window. courtney was hit by the broken glass. >> i can't see out of one eye. >> reporter: there were nine special needs students from the school of the future on the bus that had been approaching 47th and aspen around 4:30 p.m. when at least two juveniles ran over from this rec center and started throwing rocks and construction debris. >> just driving down the street and he hears the bricks

hitting the vehicle and then he hears people screaming so he stops the bus immediately does the right thing. >> reporter: southwest detectives were the ocean and quickly discovered these surveillance cameras. courtney was taken to the hospital where doctors flushed broken glass out of her eye. >> i want these boys prosecuted, i really do. >> reporter: and courtney will be back to see her doctor today. if you have any tips police want to hear from you. we're live in west philadelphia, katherine scott channel6 "action news." >> katherine, thank you. new england's quarterback tom brady could be spending the beginning of upcoming football season much like the rest of us, watching the games at home on tv. the nfl handed down harsh penalties against him and his team for deflategate. erin o'hearn is live at the big board with more on what the team stands to lose. >> reporter: hi matt. the four time super bowl winning quarterback is taking a big hit hand the a four game suspension next season without play but he has no plans to stay down the his agent making

it clear he will appeal the decision now the 243 deflategate report wasn't pretty. it stated that it is more probable than not that tom brady was at least generally aware of the activities of releasing air from patriot game balls. the nfl told brady your actions clearly constitute conduct detrimental to the integrity of the public confidence in the game of professional football. brady himself has said very little about the nfl's report but the new england patriots chairman said the report was "based on circumstantial evidence." the patriots are also being fined $1 million and are losing two draft picks. the two staffers accused of deflating the game balls are being suspended indefinitely. back in january brady denied guilt after the balls in question were used in the afc championship game against the indianapolis colts. brady den need guilt again. during the nfl's investigation officials say he was not totally forthcoming.

>> he impeded the progress and the process of the investigation. this will be part of his legacy as well. >> the nfl is serious about not messing with the integrity of the game. >> reporter: now in light of the tom brady spot major league baseball pumped up security. starting this year a mlb official watches as the balls are carried from the umpire's room to the field. >> keep your eye on ever. thank you erin. an arsonist set the blaze in kensington that killed one man and injured others. this blaze broke out yesterday morning. sources say an incendiary device was used to ignite the blaze and that an accelerant was poured on the stairs. a 31-year-old man was killed when he jumped out of the window trying to escape the fire. a 21-year-old woman is in extremely critical condition with severe burns. another child and a man suffered injury.

officials say the home has no spoke alarms. >> there's a chance your model suv didn't do so well in the latest crash tests. stacey delikat is in for maribel aber and has our market watch report live in times square. good morning, stacy. >> reporter: good morning, matt. the insurance institute for highway safety has some tough new standards so tough that only three of seven mid-size suvs it tested performed well. the nissan murano earned top marks followed by the ford flex and jeep wrangler unlimited. stocks opened the week with losses and light trading. all three indexesload down yesterday and right now futures are pointing to a lower open. mention the brand name olive garden and you'll likely think of pasta maybe unlimit edsall lad bowls but al live garden wants you to think of sandwiches. on jew first they'll introduce meat ball and chicken parm sandwiches served on the restaurant's famous bread sticks albeit a slightly wider version of those bread sticks.

matt and tam. >> thanks so much stacy. dave murphy. >> all right, so. >> what's going on? >> we are mainly dry this morning but storm tracker six live double scan has just started to pick up in the last 10 minutes a bit of a shower that has popped up down south of philadelphia. in fact south of wilmington. this is more or less moving toward the northeast. you can see it's just forming and folks between smyrna and middletown are probably going to see that and then we'll see if it survivors all the way to the delaware bay into south jersey. as we take a lookout side everybody else dealing with clouds and some sun. in fact you can see some sun reflecting offer the center city sky scrapers at this early hour. numbers are in the 60's from north to south. 68 degrees in philadelphia currently. allentown 65. 64 in trenton. 66 in wilmington and low 60's down along the works in the jersey shore. we had a line of showers and thunderstorms out in western pennsylvania last night actually produced some severe watch boxes late yesterday but you can see how this falls apart as it heads east and the only thing we have is that little pop-up shower that i just detected over the last couple minutes.

looks like most of the day will be largely dry. it's going to be warm, too. up in the lehigh valley, 86 degrees clouds and sun a bit humid in the morning. during the afternoon the winds pick up and that humidity will start to drop off a bit. at the shore not as warm but still pretty nice on the beach today. 78 degrees a bit windy and a mix of clouds and sun in atlantic city. perhaps in the mid 60's the farther south you go along the coast. and in philadelphia a warm high of 88 degrees this afternoon, a mix of clouds and sun. a little sticky in the morning but during the afternoon hours as the winds start to get real blustery gusting to 30 miles per hour that humidity will begin to lower and it will feel a little bit more comfortable. it will be warmer but not as humid. here's how numbers are going the roll today, by 8 o'clock 70 by 11:00 82. still kind of sticky in here. by 2 o'clock 87 with that high of 88 around 3 o'clock and the mid 80's by 5 o'clock and 6 o'clock tonight and for the ball game tonight pirates with the phillies, game two of a four game set, partly cloudy and pretty comfortable 82 degrees for the first pitch, 72 in the ninth inning. humidity will be out of that

what we consider humid range and it will be a little bit breezy at the ballpark but those numbers will be treating you pretty well. tomorrow a cold front off the coast, the winds shifting out of the north side west around an area of high pressure to the west and that is going to cool us do you know. we'll get up to what i suppose is a somewhat mild high of 70 but nothing like today's 88. windy and much cooler tomorrow. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, 88, warm today with that humidity dropping off a bit during the afternoon. blustery winds. tomorrow windy and cooler, a-70. in fact in the morning we'll be in the 50's before climbing to that high and then sunny and nice on thursday, 74 and nice again on friday, partly sunny and 76. if we get any rain on friday, it looks like it will hold off until late at night. saturday an iffy day 78 degrees, lots of clouds. there will be some showers at times. and then sunday back to a clouds and sun mix a high of 80 and nothing more than a real spotty shower, so it looks good for phillies baseball in the daytime. union soccer at ppl park in the evening. >> thank you david.

>> ♪♪ >> welcome back. taking a live look across philadelphia international airport. little muggy out there this morning but it will clear up as the day goes on. it's 6:15, 69 degrees. >> let's check traffic with karen rogers. >> you know what time it is, time to see a jam on i-95. like clockwork here. this is 95 approaching girard. that's your southbound traffic already heavy at this point approaching cottman and again from allegheny to girard, a 21 minute ride from woodhaven to the vine and certainly that's going to build as time progresses and you know what day it is today. it's penn moveout day and that means closures here. so we'll watch for spruce street. it's going to be closed between 34th and 40th and it's going to start early shortly here at 6:30 in the morning until 8:00 p.m. so watch for that today and tomorrow here.

stick to walnut or you can use sansom as your alternate. this is also affecting septa bus routes 40 and 42. they're going to be detoured through the area so look for that and the phils play tonight at seven:05. extra congestion there in south philadelphia. we talked about an accident on city avenue. that has since cleared so everything looking a little better city avenue right now at haverford. a water main break is causing a problem in upper dublin them to watch for crews on pine town road throughout near highland avenue there and they are trying to fix the water as we speak. camp hill road will get you around that. in christiana this fire location has old baltimore pike blocked at main street. stick to 273 as your alternate. we watched this storm just kind of pop up, not seeing lightning currently with this but i wouldn't be surprised if we dodge this is in delaware headed near route 13. if it holds together we'll see if it hits salem. other than that looking at a mostly dry day today and you want to watch out for some reduced visibility like .3 in millville tam.

>> thank you karen. we've got some brand new video just coming into the news room from the scene of a breaking story. take a look at this, all that smoke. a two alarm fire gutted a house in christiana delaware this morning. the action cam was just on the scene. you can see the flames popping up there on the unit block of north old baltimore pike around 4:45. we're told everybody made it out safely and as karen has been telling us you can expect road closures because of all of this in this area. >> the president's foundation has just announced officially that the barack obama presidential library will be built on chicago's south side. the exact site is not known. the chicago mayor rahm emanuel will release new details this afternoon some suggest that the university of chicago has been selected as the academic partner to host the presidential center. >> 6:17 now. still ahead the push to legalize medical marijuana in pennsylvania, it's one of our six things that you need to know. >> ♪♪

>> a bolt bus smoking on the side of a highway did not stop traffic on the massachusetts turnpike. but this did. when it blew up in dramatic fashion. the explosion knocked windows out onto the road and flames shot from all sides. this happened right at 5 o'clock during the busy evening rush hour. the emergency response snarled traffic for about two hours in boston suburbs. all 46 passengers thank goodness they had told the driver they heard a ticking sound and he got them out of there and they guilty out of before the blast. >> whew. >> hard to imagine they got out of there okay. did you see how the cars at first were driving so close. if police aren't there yet and slow it down stay away from something like that. i want to show you what's going on in southwest philadelphia. mid span on the platt bridge, no problems between 26th street and 95 you're looking

good. the burlington bristol bridge they canceled the bridge opening scheduled in about 10 minutes now you're good to go if you want to take the burlington bristol bridge you can do that. mass transit patco will run on an adjusted midday schedule so watch tore those changes dave. >> we like to see all those green bars on traffic. that's nice. 76 by 9 o'clock, it's a little bit muggy to start out the day and by noon still a bit humid and temperature getting up to 85. good news today is that while numbers climb during the afternoon the humidity levels are expected to drop. we're going to get a blustery wind blowing at about 30 miles per hour at times and your high today will be a warm 88 degrees around 3 o'clock. had some severe weather to our west last night that's now done. there are clusters of thunderstorms down below houston along the texas coastline. a little bit of instability in the northwest. in terms of severe weather storms that could produce 60 miles per hour gusts or more, a lot of that down along the southern gulf coast now but much of the areas that got ravaged by tornadoes earlier this week will be clear. little bit of problems out in idaho and down in coastal

>> can he continue to watch the aftermath of the latest earthquake to hit nepal. that is topping our six things you need to know today. let's head to erin o'hearn to take a look at the lit on the big board. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tam. we start with our breaking news. at least four people have died after a 7.3 magnitude earthquake and several significant aftershocks hit nepal two weeks after a major quake killed more than 8,000 people. coming up at 6:30 i'll have new video from inside parliament the moment the quake struck. after two police officers were killed in mississippi over the weekend the fbi on monday released a report showing that 51 members of law enforcement were killed in 2014. that's an 89 percent jump from 2013 when 27 officers were killed. but the fbi points out an average of 64 officers were

killed in the years 1980 through 2014. and that the lowest total during that 35 year period was 2013. the defense rested yesterday in the penalty phase of the boston marathon bombing trial. a roman catholic nun was the final witness. she met with dzhokhar tsarnaev five times since the trial began. she says she believes tsarnaev was "genuinely sorry for the pain and suffering he inflicted on his victims." closing arguments are tomorrow. george zimmerman the neighborhood watch volunteer who has had a series of run ins with girlfriends his ex-wife and random strangers since killing an unarmed black teenager narrowly missed getting shot monday in his car. the dispute this time was with the same man that authorities say was involved in a road rage incident with zimmerman last year. a newly expanded medical marijuana bill is expected to pass the pennsylvania senate although its prospects remain unclear in the house. on monday the senate amended
