four police officers they are pretty banged up but in good spirits the four district officers were injured as the suspect used his vehicle as a weapon to flee the scene mayor nutter says they suffered back and leg injuries and one has to undergo a cat scan because his injuries were more serious. he had a neck brace on and the other three officers are basically together they're -- the deputy indicated and i saw them they are banged up and they have scrapes on their legs and arms and one officer has pretty sore shoulder. >> pedestrians had to jump out of way and the suspect struck a fire truck while trying to flee. >> and indication that some of the dangers that philadelphia police officers encounter on the streets of our city trying to do their job and trying to make

small community park, officials tell me the swimming hole is 22 feet deep where the young man went in, it's extremely cold and he struggled and drowned. it's peaceful location in the woods a short walk here in chester county localed say people come back here to swim in the creek beneath the railroad bridge. >> families come back here and swim and everybody has get togethers back here. it's just known as the swimming hole. >> this morning things turned tragic for a group of friends, a young man was swimming with a group of other men and two women and children. he was struggling went back under the water and his friends tried to rescue him, they jumped in after him and he was taking them down and they tried to the

rope swing to help him up but they couldn't. by then they called 911 and police and medics arrived but the manner resurfaced and they tried using poles and ladders but could not. at 1:00 this afternoon they recovered the body. >> the man was 22 years of age this shows of what can happen in a split second. >> there are incidents back here before but not a drowning i don't think and i have lived here my whole life. >> this is not an authorized swimming area, but officials tell me that very, very popular with young people especially this time of year in the early evening, we just saw a group of young people leaving the swimming hole, and officials say they are not aware of the dangers here and a deceptive 22 feet deep in spots. i'm sara bloomquist, channel 6 "action news." >> all right sara thank you.

overseas the death toll for the second earthquake to hit nepal continues to rise and at least 37 people are killed. u.s. officials say that a marine corps helicopter is now missing. the helicopter carrying six marines and two nepal soldiers when on a mission delivering aid, there is no indications that the aircraft crashed and it's under investigation at this time. well, the latest quake there is another one, it registered a 7.3 hit that is the hardest area it hit in the foothills of the himalayas and it shook the capital badly and the oinl that hit on april 25th killed 8,000 p.m. and flattened entire villages. >> all volunteers in nepal from delaware are safe after this morning morning's earthquake, they arrived on saturday to bring relief and volunteers that

"action news" at 5:00 continues now with the lightest on the violent confrontation between philadelphia police officers and a motorist the cell phone video shows a dram attic struggle that sets off a chain of events ending with four officers in the hospital and the suspect in critical condition. we are getting a clear picture of how this unfolded this afternoon. it started when officers responded to a reported car crash in the olney section. authorities here is a that the driver was in disstress and taken out of his red car partially and then the man begins to fight with officers and manages to get back in his car and drive off and then around the corner at the 700 block of chu here the driver allegedly hit four officers responding to the scene and then went to another area, stenton and ogontz where the driver hit a fourth officer, and they opened fire on the driver

dragging the officer with it. and a witness described what happened at 700 chu street. >> it happened really kind of fast, i was just kind of working right here and i seen him hit my car. boom. turned around and hit the cop car and made a left out of the driveway. >> the witness tells us the cop was in shock as they ran to the officer's aid we ran to the cop car and he was leaning over and helped him out and he couldn't even stand up. and we got him the chair and got him water, and even holding the water, he couldn't even like -- he was shaking bad even trying to drink the water i gave him, like a nurse checking his pulse just sweating really bad and vomiting, it was just shocking really, i hope the guy is okay. i heard he was shot. i hope they are both okay.
