awe a septa train engineer who was talking with 188 shortly before derailment taking being about their trains hit by a rock or being shot at in the moments before the fatal crash. >> an unknown object made contact with the train shattering the windshield. >> in it they were responding to reports that trenton septa line train number 769 was hit by unknown object. >> let those personnel know they put out a report the train was shot at. use caution. >> all units copy. >> ntsb says at the time of the incident the engineer of septa train was talking to engineer of train 188 saying his train was also struck according to conductor interviewed by agency and the conversation was captured and tape and is being tushdz over to ntsb. investigators would determine the septa train was not shot at but hit by unknown object.

>> a southbound acela train was struck in the same general area same time frame. they are examining the whipped shield of the doomed amtrak train to determine if they're pullet holes. amtrak engineer brandon bostian who suffered a concussion said he cannot remember anything before the crash. >> my take there had to be impact on the window to get that kind of damage. >> michael calahan works as a conductor in connecticut and used to work 188 traveling the same route five years ago. he believes an outside force was responsible for kicking the speed up to over 10 0 miles an hour. >> we have had our trains stoned before. i mean all kinds of stuff happens on northeast corridor if you name it i've seen. it baltimore we've had children zoning train. throwing rocks at train. and that particular area north philadelphia is a bad area.

>> back here live, amtrak is still hoping to have service between philadelphia and new york restored by monday or tuesday. meanwhile federal officials today announced amtrak must immediately expand use of speed restriction system on northbound rails here where the speeding train reached 106 miles an hour. and amtrak says it will abide by that emergency order. that's the latest live in port richmond i'm dann cuellar "channel 6 action news." >> dann thank you . >> an investigation is underway to what caused a fire at popular shop on ocean city boardwalk tonight. fire broke out at 7th street surf shop. crews arrived to find flames shooting from the store. they were able to get it under control in half an hour, though, no injuries reported and we're told the shops sustained heavy damage. sadly comes one week before the summer vacation season begins. >> investigators in montgomery county are trying to piece together the moments leading up

next dar and there was a flower pot there. pull the pot over your head don't look at me or i'll put a bellet in your head. >> the man called 911 and when police arrived they were able to track the ping from the man's stolen cellphone and that led police to the suspect back at the casino. thieves june dumped cash and phone and into the casino where he was arrested hiding in one of the bathrooms. >> police in camden county are investigating a sooting that unfolded outside a motel in cherry hill. early it morning police respond toyed call of shots fired at the inn of above motel on route 38. when they got there they learned that a 24-year-old man was taken to cooper university hospital after being shot repeatedly. he remains in stable condition tonight. investigators think the shooting was the result of a fight inside one of those rooms where a big party was taking place. no arrests were made just yet. >> and overseas now and for the first time u.s. commandoes had killed a senior isis leader in battle that turned so intense it ended what military officials

craig. the members of engine 64 have done a great job trying to keep her memory going and we want to make sure that we honor her family by the memorial. >> joyce craig left behind a teenage son and a 3-year-old daughter. the fraternal order of police held annual survivor's fund benefit in northeast philadelphia. there was plenty of fun, dunk tank, live music and auction. money raised will benefit the families of fallen philadelphia police officers. 70 college-bound students from our area received scholarships tonight to help them pay their way through school. 2015 empowerment gala in center city this black tie event hosted by urban league of philadelphia. more to come on "action news" tonight, a paddle and seattle to protest arrival of oil rig. they have more man activism planned on the bay. >> eyes on the skies high above the ground with a look at the rise of the drones.
