the driver did not stop. >> good morning, everyone, 6:30, monday tam is off. nydia han joins us and we have weather and traffic with david and karen. >> good morning everybody clouds trying to block out early sun. there's also breaks and some of are you seeing that sun as we look at satellite and radar. there's been a couple sprinkles south of philadelphia this morning and going to be off the map before too much longer and later this afternoon soupy clouds and sun mix will probably fire up additional showers and thunderstorms. as we look at numbers right now 71 in philadelphia. 65 allentown and 68 trenton and 6 9 ming ton and comfortable on the terrace. if you start to move around you'll notice the humid side this morning. as we look at your smart phone app stormtracker 6 app shows 71 now. up to 74, 8:00, by noon 84. high today 85 at 2:00 and by 3:00, up to 83 and 79 at 6:00. during the afternoon after three through six and evening

hours there's a chance of shower or thunderstorm. pollen count by the way is medium today and getting a little better the next couple days. weather turns for the better in the exclusive accuweather it 7 day. karen we'll have details in a couple minutes. >> big news this morning amtrak trains running again between philadelphia and new york city. service there is resumed. so is service with septa trenton line. trains are not stopping at philadelphia station. outbound trains headed to trenton not stopping at bridesburg and tacony. expect changes with the trenton line and also expecting up to an hour delay. septa says we want to warn you there could be up to hour delay as they continue to work on this and expect those delays to pill spill out chestnut hill east line. expect delays as service resumes again this morning. other big issue with traffic open the roads. looking live at the schuylkill expressway an you can see this accident scene. so this car facing sideways right here on the schuylkill eastbound at girard. now you can see a tow truck on the scene. they hooked it up. no longer facing sideways but

blocking the two left lanes. only one right lane getting by on the schuylkill eastbound. so this is creating a big jam-up here jammed from past belmont to girard where we have accident scene. stick to mlk drive or kelly drive instead. look at travel time. 44 minute ride on the schuylkill eastbound between blue route and vine. huge delays on the schuylkill this morning because of that accident scene. and an accident cleared here in douglass township gilbertsville road just reopened and traffic moving get better there and burlington bristol scheduled to go up now. stick to turnpike connector instead. >> amtrak train 110 now open route to new york city having passed through same area where another train derailed last week leaving eight dead and dozens injured. katherine the northeast corridor is fully operational. >> it is matt, it did take off a few minutes late. the train this morning we were speaking to passengers awaiting

to board and most of them felt comfortable getting on the train with additional safeguards in place. they were lining up at gate 3 over. there you can see another train lining up at this point. but they were here earlier. mayor nutter was hereof to great passengers as they boarded. hundreds were working to get the north east corridor up and running today. investigations continue. eight people lost their lives last tuesday and more than 200 were injured. investigators are also looking into reports that object may have struck the windshield of that train before the crash. on saturday, federal regulators ordered amtrak to expand the use of automatic train control system to northbound trains near the crash site and this morning amtrak spokesperson told us that technology is in place and most passenger we spoke to this morning tell us they don't have nerves about boarding that first train from philadelphia. >> there's risk in driving an

flying. i don't see any difference with the train. plus it will be even safer now. it's all new tracks. >> back live at 30th street station things getting back to normal. septa trenton line resumed operation and look for delays of up to 60 minutes on track and trains in both directions as amtrak crews keep making repairs. live at 30th street station katherine scott "channel 6 action news." >> thanks, katherine. funerals scheduled today for two of the eight people that died in amtrak crash. services for bob gildersleeve junior will be held in monmouth county new jersey. also rachel jacobs will be laid to rest today in suburban detroit. some of the other victims were remembered over the weekend including during funeral services for laura finamore yesterday. >> local state and federal leaders gathered at the site of the derailment for a reflection ceremony yesterday. mayor nutter read the names of those who died while doves were released in their honor.

>> the city of philadelphia is planning to host a memorial service at a later date. >> new this morning. four people were injured in a nasty crash in burlington county and it happened along route 73, green tree road in eavesham township late last night. two cars were stopped at a relate when a third vehicle rear ended them. two people had to be flown a nearby hospital and ambulance transported other two. route 73 is back open this morning. >> police in waco texas stepped up patrols. they're worried about a retaliation from a deadly shootout from motorcycle gangs. it sent patrons running for cover. no customers were hurt and nine bikers died. members of five rival gangs got together to settle differences and a fight broke out. police detained more than 100 people for questioning and made several arrests. president obama is scheduled to make a stop in camden today.

there's independence hall. and we are looking at muggy pattern this morning. pretty much continuation of the humidity we felt yesterday. temperature in the city is 71 degrees. dew point well above the 60 degree threshold for what we consider humid air. def in thely sticky side especially as you start exerting yourself this morning. winds calm. not much release from whipped. future tracker 6 looking at clouds and sun mix through the morning and mainly dry conditions. we get up to noon and on the lookout for couple of spotty sprinkles and showers and between noon and 3:00 we're looking at development of some potentially heavier downpours. there could be just showers and we could see thunderstorms mixed in and this pattern continues right up until 6:00. looks like center of action is out to the west of philadelphia and about city out to the western suburbs. everyone should keep your eyes out for this and this is 6:00 vuxt not everybody is seeing this those that do could see a downpour. later tonight 11:00 really by

york city for the first time since tuesday derailment last week. >> karen rogers looking at traffic trouble for us on the schuylkill expressway right? looking live open the schuylkill expressway look at this jam up on schuylkill expressway eastbound jammed to girard. accident at girard just cleared a second ago a vehicle facing sideways blocking two lanes. 6:30 44 minute ride and already grown look at this. 55 minute ride that point and on the schuylkill 5 five minutes eastbound blue route to vine. it's a huge delay this morning. you can seat traffic jammed at this point as you travel towards center city with this accident that cleared a second ago at girard. the vehicle was facing sideways jammed past belmont to girard with the accident on the schuylkill expressway and delay keeps growing at this point.

now that all lanes are back open hopefully delay eases and damage is done. stick to mlk or kelly instead to get around problems open schuylkill. other issues around as we look at big picture. upper darby. township line road nair west chester pike a tractor-trailer fire extinguished there and crews remain on the scene. you may see delays in that area with the tractor-trailer fire. university city penn's commencement at 10: 15. you'll see extra congestion because of that as well. >> slow speeds, how about i-95 with normal volume looking at 12 miles an hour southbound near girard. this is bucks county. we're looking at mincey trail at 313 dublin pike watch for accident new this morning and reduced visibility and fog not bad. five mile visibility at philadelphia international and three mile visibility mill three mile

i'm lynne abraham. when i became philadelphia's da, child victims had to face a judge ...a jury...the public... and testify eye to eye with their attackers. it wasn't right. so i got a constitutional amendment passed allowing children to testify remotely. i'm running for mayor for the same reason -- our children should come first. jim kenney and tony williams are fighting over public schools versus charters. i disagree. we have to improve education for all of our children.
