meteorologist, david murphy. >> it's 5 o'clock on this wednesday, may 20th. we have news you didn't see last night. >> toxic fumes make a family sick there their delaware home overnight. >> the favored in the democratic primary for philadelphia mayor absolutely destroys his competition. >> there's an effort under way to track down the plan who lured five young boys away from pains park in philadelphia. >> how about a pleasant day from accuweather. let's see if we can deliver that with david and karen. good morning. >> did get warmer and more humid late yesterday afternoon. today weary versing that pattern. we've got a lot of sunshine on the way, lack of cloud cover in the immediate region and this stuff out to the west probably melting away. only had one little shower pop through areas just south of philadelphia last night and that was it. 63 degrees right now in philadelphia. notice how the winds are now coming down out of the northwest which is generally a cooler more comfortable source region for us rather than the south where we were drawing from yesterday. 60 in wilmington. just 55 in allentown and 62 in millville. some of you are experiencing a little bit of a breeze this

morning and so plan for that on the bus stop this morning. between six and 8 o'clock, 59 by six, 69 by 8:00 a.m. in philadelphia a bit on the breezy side but mainly clear and generally speaking pretty comfortable. as we roll through the day 61 by 9 o'clock, 66 by noon and definitely cooler this afternoon, 71 by 3 o'clock and a high of 72 that i think will probably slide in around 3:30 or 4 o'clock and 69 degrees by 6 o'clock a-bit on the breezy side with winds gusting as high as 20 to 25 miles per hour. your pollen count is a little bit on the rise but only staying in the medium high range the next several days into the holiday weekend. speaking of which we'll have new details from accuweather on just what your weekend looks like, memorial day already here karen, can you believe it. >> i can believe it because i have been counting it down since winter. looking outside on the schuylkill under 30th street. traffic moving fine, construction clearing out. just a couple cones left over in the right lane eastbound heading under 30th street. lots of construction elsewhere in the region out there. northeast extension near quakertown we've got it,

southbound blocking the left lane. southbound approaching lansdale as well blocking the left lane and northbound approaching quakertown blocking the right lane. so, the eighty two us are out there working hard. no problems on the ben franklin bridge, though. we're seeing traffic moving very nice unlike yesterday where we were really stuck with a lot of fog. we're not seeing that this morning. in bellmawr camden county 295 northbound between 42 and 30 we've got construction blocking up to two lanes. so that will slow you down with two lanes blocked. that should be clear in another hour. as we look outside live 42 is looking good so far. matt and tam. >> thank you karen. this is new this morning t-carbon monoxide september 4 adults and two children to the hospital in delaware. this happened in christiana around 12:30 this morning. firefighters detected high levels of carbon monoxide throughout this home. so far there's no word on the conditions here or the source of that leak. >> it has been a violent night in the city of philadelphia. a 22-year-old man was shot and killed along the 2900 block of frankford avenue at 8:30 last night.

a second victim was wounded but will survive. another double shooting turned deadly in west philadelphia. gunfire erupted along the 1500 block of north red field street yesterday evening. police say the 26-year-old man died from a gunshot wound to the back. a 28-year-old woman survived a gunshot wound to her buttocks. >> it's 5:03 and police are on the hunt for the man behind a creepy encounter near the philadelphia museum of art. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live at pains park with more details. good morning, katherine. good morning, tam. this park is normally pretty busy. people here are pretty surprised to learn about this. the boy apparently waited several days to tell his mother what had happened because he was afraid he would get into trouble and then they went to police. >> it's little unsettling. >> reporter: a creepy encounter has left skate borders at pains park feeling a bit on edge. they say they typically feel pretty safe.

>> skate. i don't pay attention to everybody walking around. i have had people steal my phone. i haven't had something like that happen. >> reporter: so they were stunned to hear about what police say happened on sunday may tenth. an 11-year-old boy told police he and four friends ages nine to 11 were at this skate park when a man offered them free cokes and bacon sandwiches if they could come with him. they did. they followed him up the art museum steps to a grassy hill behind. the 11-year-old said that's when the man asked him and his friends to pose in various positions so he could photograph their bare feet. when it was over the man told them he would pay them money if they would return the next week. older skateboarders at the park say they wished they'd known the boys were in trouble. >> yeah, i feel like if anyone was here seeing it, it would have been stopped right there. >> reporter: the man apparently told the boys he worked at a sneaker store. the child was only able to give a vague description to police but if you have any tips the special victims unit wants to hear from you.

live at pains park, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." >> katherine thank you. beau biden the son of vice president joe biden is undergoing treatment at walter reed national military medical center. but there's been no indication what the former attorney general of delaware is being treated for. the younger biden had a brain lesion removed in 2013 and suffered a stroke in 2010. again, it's unclear if that is what he's being treated for now. >> ♪♪ >> jim kenney scored a resounding win in a six-way race for the democratic nomination for mayor of philadelphia. >> it was a blowout. he won about 57 percent of the vote in the primary yesterday. kenny a former long time city councilman will now face republican melissa bailey in november. >> i think the positivity, i think the issues that we talked about, which is all centered around poverty prek and blue collar jobs and reentry all surrounding neighborhoods, every neighborhood in our city having difficulties i think that's what resonated with people and we ran a very effective campaign and did

extremely well without going negative. >> today bailey and kenney will join together for fund rivers for the broad street ministry. the victory all but abinsures kenney will be the next mayor since democrats outnumber republicans nearly seven to one in the city. head to 6abc.com for more election coverage. we've posted other results of other primary races that matter to you there as well. >> the former src chairman bill green had talked about possibly running as an independent in november. we'll see if kenney's showing scares him off. >> but you know he looked at turnout and he said i think the people still may be open to something else. so we'll see. >> the other thing to remember it was 27 percent turnout. >> that's what he looked at, yeah. >> right. so, we'll see what happens. >> well, storm tracker six live double scan right now not much is happening at all as once again we are not seeing a lot of rain and really only got one cell south of philadelphia last night so a lot of you hoping for rain on the lawn did not get it.

looks like more watering in line. as we take a look outside, we have skies clearing. there are a couple of high clouds but those are going to tend to evaporate as we go through the morning and we are looking at mostly sunny skies today. we're starting out a bit cool, 63 degrees in philadelphia, 60 in wilmington, still in the 50's in trenton allentown reading and out in lancaster 62 in millville and the humidity is much lower. there's a little bit of a breeze dropping down out of the northwest as well, kind of a comfortable refreshing morning. there are some clouds out to the west of us that will probably tend to erode as we go through the day and i think mostly you're looking at sunny skies today, so get the shades ready as you plan to head out this morning and throughout the day. lots of sun up in the lehigh valley breezy and cool, 68 degrees is all you'll see in the lehigh valley. quite a bit cooler than yesterday when we did get up to about 80 or so. mainly sunny breezy and cool, 69 degrees at the shore. a breeze, maybe a light jacket as you're walking the boards today. and in philadelphia, cooler, 72 degrees lots of sun breezy, low humidity, a pretty

comfortable day overall. winds, though, out of the northwest gusting to 20 to 25 miles per hour at times. so a little bit of a breeze blowing, again rather refreshing. as we roll through the day, 60 at 8 o'clock, 64 by 11 o'clock. looks like as late as 2 o'clock we can still be in the 60's with that 69-degree temperature. and then a high of 72 probably around 4 o'clock before we dip back to 70 by 5 o'clock. pretty comfortable. now, tomorrow we've got an area of low pressure that will be centered done to our south but as it passes by, it will throw more clouds into the picture and that will actually cool us down into the 60's tomorrow. there's also the chance of a passing shower particularly in the afternoon. future tracker six has this after one or 2 o'clock and it is all down south of philadelphia in fact even wilmington may stay dry tomorrow but that southern storm system throwing a couple of light showers through the region and then by 7:30 tomorrow night we're beginning to wind down. we may see a little bit more sun up in northern areas like the lehigh valley tomorrow than we will in philadelphia and points south. 72 is today's high. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast breezy and

cooler but pretty nice. tomorrow cloudy and cool. down south some showers. then friday breezy and getting warmer through the day with a high of 78. pretty nice day as we kind of kick out the work week and get ready for that holiday weekend. saturday sunny and nice but a cooler high of just 71. partly sunny skies with clouds on sunday. might feel more humid in the afternoon. still a pretty nice saturday-sunday combo. monday probably stickier, 82 degrees is the high. there's a the chance of a spotty shower or thunderstorm on memorial day but it does look very spotty so i wouldn't cancel my plans. i would keep my eyes on radar and of course you can do that with the storm tracker six app on are smartphone. >> thank you david. 5:09. developing this morning thousands of passengers spent the night stuck off the coast of bermuda. their cruise ship ran aground. >> several nationwide cancer charitys are busted for pocketing millions of dollars in donations.

>> for the most part we've got light volume. we're clear and dry. no fog like we had yesterday so that's sounds pretty good, right. here's what it looks like in bensalem bucks county, route one at the pennsylvania turnpike, very light volume. traffic moving nicely. route one is clear between morrisville and northeast philadelphia. and on the pennsylvania turnpike we had some construction and that is cleared as well, so you're good to go this morning and looking pretty good in bucks county. let's take you to the maps here in princeton mercer county mount lucas road will close between cherry hill road and poor farm road from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and that's each day through friday. so watch for this construction going on in princeton, just stick to 206 and that will get you around it. in egg harbor township atlantic county from 9:30 to 3:30 today mill road eastbound will close at old zion road. you can stay on old zion road to avoid the problem with construction crews working through the day. on your commuter traffic report we have someone talking about a pothole on i-95 southbound as you travel through the city and i really like the person who reported it. a member of our 6abc team so

that's cool, chip meow. he likes cats. curious about that chip. 63 degrees right now in philadelphia. 55 in allentown. 62 degrees in millville. nice and comfortable out there today. yesterday it was quite warm at the end of the day, 83. not today. 72 for your high, nice spring day. matt and tam. >> thank you karen. and developing this morning a cruise ship is waiting to be inspected in the waters off bermuda after being grounded on a reef for nearly six and a half hours. the rising tide helped to free the ship late last night. nearly 3500 passengers are on board but the company says nobody has been hurt. the cruise line says the ship had just set off for boston yesterday when it ran aground. officials say a temporary malfunction in the steering system forced it slightly off course. agents pulled off a record heroin bust in new york city they seized more than 150 pounds of heroin from mexico worth at least

$50 million. agents also arrested two men and recovered $2 million in cash. they say the drug ring was a main source of heroin for users in new york city, connecticut, massachusetts pennsylvania and rhode island. and a worker on a scaffold managed to somehow get out of this situation unharmed. jalen bolton was stuck eight stories up while power washing the bank of america building on king street in wilmington yesterday. the scaffolding lost power and it took about half an hour but crews were finally able to get that power back on and get him down to the ground. >> the phillies continue their series in colorado tonight. pitcher severino gonzalez will be recalled from aaa lehigh valley and will step in for the injured chad billingsly. the colorado rockies took the win last night snapping the phillies six game winning street. aaron harang allowed three runs in the first after that harang was virtually untouchable giving up one hit over the next five innings. michael franco notched three rbi's. rockies won six to five.

your high right around 3 o'clock is actually going to be 72. might slot that in over here and a few clouds digging in as the day goes on but generally speaking breezy, basically sunny and low humidity so a nice one. across the country your eyes are drawn to the central states where there are some showers and thunderstorms that could hinder travel to places like little rock arkansas later today, saint louis perhaps des moines. the only chance of severe weather would be down the southern areas from memorial miss alabama louisiana houston and dallas included. the only chance of tornadoes far to the west of dallas and houston. locally we're not looking at any major delays on the big board at philadelphia international airport. there are some clouds out in chicago and down in orlando but nothing that would appear to present any big travel issues for you this morning, tam. >> okay, thank you, david. going on to health check now making regular dental appointments is about a lot more than just your cleanings and fillings. dentists also screen for oral cancer. it often affects long term

on this wednesday may 20th. let's find out what you can expect in accuweather with dave murphy and karen rogers of course is watching the roads. good morning. >> well, good morning and it's cool and comfortable out there today, too. we have a lack of any real significant cloud cover. just a couple little showers come through last night but that was it so we stayed mainly dry and this cloud cover out to the west is likely going to erode before it gets here so i'm expecting mainly sunny skies. starting out in good shape. 63 degrees currently in philadelphia. just 55 in allentown. cool up in reading and lancaster and trenton too, in the 50's in those spots and 62 in millville, 60 in wilmington. notice how the winds have shifted from the south where you draw that humid air from the northwest now and that's drier more comfortable air coming into the region. as you head out to the bus stop you might find it a little breezy out there at times between six and 8 o'clock. 59 degrees by 6 o'clock, 60 by 8:00 a.m. so a little bit on the cool side, maybe a light jacket a good idea. as we roll into the afternoon it's still going to be a little bit mild but a bit below average for this time of year. 61 by 9 o'clock, 66 by noon and then
