just arrived over the scene of a trash truck fire on the pennsylvania turnpike you see it there. >> firefighters have put it out, they used some type of foam so extinguish the flames this is happening in charlestown township, chester county. a line of cars stretch down the westbound lanes for miles. >> a busy thoroughfare. >> reporter: here's what we can see that's changed right now. allowing traffic to get by in that left lane right there. you can see the trash truck fire, the foam all over the road. the crews are out there. we've got a two mile backup, it was blocked approaching downingtown. that was a big problem this morning. right now they are allowing the traffic that's been stuck here to get through at this point. i would avoid the pennsylvania turnpike westbound. they may need to block it again as they deal with the situation

and pull the trash truck out of there, it was fully engulfed. it was a mess of a scene on the turnpike westbound. i want to take you to the maps and show you how to get around it. 202 southbound to 30 westbound to route 100 northbound to avoid the delay, a good two mile delay even though traffic is squeezing by on the turnpike westbound just one lane approaching downingtown. other problems out there an accident involving a deer warrington, county line road near 611. i-95 southbound jammed traffic from academy to cottman and the betsy ross bridge to girard. we have a salem accident fatal a single single-vehicle accident, the accident brought down wires in pits grove township, salem county. i talked to the police they said they have to deal with the down

they are working to clear the scene. they are towing a vehicle involved in the investigation. officers heard gunshots they rushed to 42nd and girard in parkside where they found a 29-year-old man lying in the street. he had been shot multiple times collapsing in the road. a pontiac unrelated to the shooting hit him. the police stopped the pontiac and said the 79-year-old driver was drunk and taken into custody. a nearby nissan was hit by stray gunfire. the 52-year-old driver and the passenger were not injured. police say two inches in another direction it could have been a different story. police hope surveillance cameras give them more information on the case and gunman. >> we did find a nearby business in the area that has exterior surveillance cameras. hopefully they recorded something that could help us with our investigation.

nchts and back here live you can see police are working to clear the scene and tow away the vehicle involved in the investigation. police are talking to witnesses. as for the 29-year-old shot and hit by the car he was pronounced at the hospital. and police say a gun was found in his possession, as well as what appears to be crack cocaine. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> police in ocean county new jersey say a dog was trying to help an infant but ended up seriously injuring the child. it happened in west tuckerton. the mother went inside the home and the pitbull thought the 2-month-old girl was left unattended outside. so the dog carried hear into the house. the baby suffered a puncture wound to the chest and was flown to the hospital in serious condition. authorities say the dog is well behaved. animal control is investigating. california governor is

declaring a state of emergency to clean up an oil spill. workers busy shoveling black goo off the beaches. booms are in place that stretch nine miles long. pick up rain in the morning hours, as well. we'll probably stick with this on and off through the afternoon and evening. as we look outside we have sky6 live hd down the shore failure cloudy skies overhead. ahead of the rain we're seeing thinning of the clouds here and there, a brighter spot here and there, we're seeing that off the coast of south jersey right now. as we look at the current profile. 5 degrees it's cool as you step outside. jack or sweatshirt a good idea. it will take a while for the rain to take over the dry air and produce rain at the surface. winds out of the northeast at 6 miles per hour not that strong but coming down out of the cool northeast. as we look at future tracker model wants to suppress the rain to the south until noon, i think it will make it into philadelphia by then and the northern suburbs could get something in the morning hours. the general idea as we go through the afternoon the farther south you go the

steadier the rain. the farther north the lighter rain. allentown could get something but the trend is to the south. it's being forced in the area by a system that is well to the south moving off the coast of the carolinas. steadier stuff down south and less and less as you go north. the whole thing is off the coast by 9:00 p.m. we're not looking out of for a whole lot of rain unfortunately. we do need the rain. some of us might get a quarter inch. delaware and new jersey will get a quarter inch or more. temperatures are cool under the clouds. 55 degrees by 8:00 a.m. 60 by 11:00 a.m. 63 around 1:30, 2:00 p.m. by 5:00 p.m. back in the 50s.
